by Kent Koral 08 Feb '12

08 Feb '12

Hi All, This week the Orange ride will make it's way to the coast and back via Mulholland. I will not be riding with you this weekend, so would someone please oversee the group?? Have a safe, fun ride. For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/303626 As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride announcements promptly at 8:30AM prior to splitting into our groups and departing. The Orange ride is an intermediate/advanced recreational ride 40 to 50 miles in length with an average pace of 15+mph. It is not a "no drop ride" but as always let's try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. After the ride, please join us at one of the many refueling options available at the finish such as Natural Cafe, Sea Casa, East Coast Bagel, Sprouts Market, etc.. Please remember to park in the area along Westlake Bl.(between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the Shops/Market. If we don't respect the requests of the lease tenants, we could be asked to park elsewhere. See you on the road or trail! Kent Koral Ride Director Conejo Valley Cyclists 818-802-0826

CVC Tuesday Night MTB Ride 2-7-12 6pm
by Kent Koral 06 Feb '12

06 Feb '12

Hey MTB'rs, This Tuesday we are showing a chance of rain, so we will ride as long as the ground doesn't become too saturated. With rain in the forecast, lets plan on Space Mountain. If it is raining of relatively wet out side we will cancel. we will meet at 6pm at the south end of Moorpark Rd. Most of our rides are approximately 10 miles and last under 2 hours. The Tuesday MTB night ride is a intermediate paced ride. lets stay together and have a fun safe time. Be sure to have a light capable of lighting a dark trail and lasting at least 2.5 hours and bring a spare tube & pump at a minimum. See you out there. Kent Koral CVC Ride Director 818-802-0826

CVC Red Ride Feb 4th
by Jim Doane 04 Feb '12

04 Feb '12

Hi Club members and Red Riders: I wanted to acknowledge and thank again Club member/Red Rider/Race Team member Nick Steel for hisprevious suggestion to me for today's Red Ride route. Adding the Juan Bautista de Anza Park part at the beginning of our regular: Rock Store - Encinal Canyons- Mulholland Hwy ride gave us a nice diversion and added variety to one of our regular Red Ride routes. Nick's suggestion was very much in line with what our Ride Director, Kent mentioned at our group start today. We'd like to encourage Club members of all colored club rides to suggest and even lead new and varied routes to our existing club rides. As Kent mentioned this morning - he plans on announcing a Club Ride Committee meeting soon.We encourage your attendance and participation at this meeting where we'd like your input to improve our club ride experience: 1) Creating new and varied club rides ( all colors & Away Rides) 2) Establishing a rotating core of club ride leaders - so no "one" person has too much leadership commitment Can be "leaders", "mid-pack leaders", "sweepers" all with the purpose of keeping riders on course & riding safely Along with the current ride leaders it would be beneficial & valuable to the club to include otherclub members who'd like to contribute some of their time to expand the fun ride and camaraderie experiencefor all which is consistent with our club motto: "The Friendly Club" Jim Doane - CVC Member & Red Ride leader

CVC Sunday Social / Recovery Ride -- Sunday February 5th - 9:00am Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Hidden Valley / Green Meadow MUP Route Come out and join us for a social paced recovery ride (14 Mph Average Speed/Pace). 30 miles maximum and stay a while to socialize afterwards by having an after-ride beverage and snack. Please remember this is a social paced recovery ride and while that may mean slightly different paces for different people, I attempt to keep the group together as a whole on these rides. The theory is to recover from our Saturday training rides and socialize. Off we will go through Hidden Valley and climb up the hill to Treasure Hill Ranch. A quick descent to a right on Reino Drive where we then take Lynn Road to Green Meadow Drive and cut though the well hidden Multi Use Path behind the Los Robles Golf Course which runs us out on to Moorpark Road. Down Moorpark Road and up our new favorite hill, Las Padres Drive which connects un into the surgical center on Halland Drive which parallels the 101 FWY to Rancho Road. From there up Rancho Road to La Granada Drive where it connects to Conejo School Road. Down Conejo School Road through a few more lightly traveled residential streets and back. After ride socializing - Natural Cafe' Restaurant - Patio and/or front grassy courtyard area. Many options at this location for beverage and food establishments.
