WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENT
Hey CVC,
The weather looks great this weekend - with temps in the low 80s! But it's still July, so drink aggressively and don't push yourself too hard.
On Saturday we have three rides. The Red Ride is heading out Hidden Valley to drop down Potrero and the coast before returning up Yerba Buena and Lil Sycamore. The Orange Ride is riding out the same direction through HIdden Valley, but will turn inland as CSU and come back up Santa Rosa Valley. The Gold ride is doing the 3 Lakes Ride featuring Westlake, Sherwood and Lake Malibu.
On Sunday we've got three ride options as well. The Red Ride will be heading for the Rock Store, shooting down Encinal Canyon and hitting out-n-back loops on Lil Sycamore and Carlisle Canyon on the way home. The G.O. Ride is doing a ride out to Wood Ranch in Simi Valley, including Long Canyon and a challenging climb back over Erbes. And the social ride is heading up through Thousand Oaks to Wildwood Park, before looping back over Westlake Boulevard and home on Lakeview.
We've also got midweek rides on Tuesday and Thursday morning and evenings, including the our famous Rock Store Race Ride (with moderat-paced options), our wildly fun Thursday night Pub Ride and destination rides Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
When riding with your groups, please be very verbal and watch for debris in the bike lanes. Always warn riders behind you of everything approaching! You are their eyes when you are on the front. When calling out, be loud, especially around vehicles.
Our Purple and Newcomer rides are getting a good turn-out. Please help spread the word and bring friends! Our Purple rides are scheduled for the first weekend of every month. We can also put together a Purple ride anytime. We may also add Purple rides every weekend soon. Contact me or Sheri. Come join us and bring family and friends.
Let me know if I can help with anything bike or ride-related. I always have extra gear, nutrition, supplies and my toolbox, pump, etc.
And let's ride!

SAFETY REMINDERS
If there is a marked bike lane, cyclists may ride shoulder to shoulder. Single file otherwise. There is no three or four abreast at any time while moving. If you are wearing a CVC kit, you represent the club, so please be sure to follow the rules of the road. When riding with CVC, you agree to: * Wear a helmet and ensure my bike is in good working order. * Ride to the right, pass on the left. * Ride in the bike lane (where available) and signal when moving into another lane. * Ride no more than two abreast in the bike lane, single file on narrow roads, and avoid "Swarming" (bunching up and multiplying the chance of accidents) * Call out and point if I see a traffic hazard * Respect ALL traffic laws and the rights of all autos, bicycles, and pedestrians* Ride predictably and remind other to be safe * Be a bicycling ambassador
PARKING
Please remember when parking at The Landing for any weekend morning rides to park and congregate towards the far end of the lot away from the street and use the middle row. Do not park next to the homes.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
The Purple ride is considered a no drop. Having said that, please note that if you are falling behind or slower than the average pace, you may be dropped. All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). If you get to a regrouping spot and no one is there, consider yourself dropped. As always, we will try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together.
If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader.
Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.
This Thursday is THE most special Thursday ever... it is Lisa Gutman's

Come celebrate after WITH Lisa, or any combo above!

reason to celebrate!

CVC Members,
CVC Board is looking for volunteers who want to be involved with the club
in a more in depth way.
We are always looking for members who want to step up and lead, whether it
be ride leadership, (from leading a purple ride once a month, to a gold,
orange, or red) to weekday ride leaders, and even those who want to step
forward and serve the club in other leadership positions that may be more
"behind the scenes). This would certainly involve a time commitment out of
the saddle.
If you are interested in serving your club in one of the leadership roles,
please contact me and let's talk about it.
Thanks so much,
Sheri Leiken

Hi,
I hope you can attend the BAT meeting on Wednesday July 19th at 4:00 in the
Park Room.
If you can't - you can always send an interested cyclist in your place.
I've attached the draft agenda and meeting notes from the May 3rd meeting.
If you would like me to add any item to the Agenda please just drop me an
e-mail and I'll put it on the Agenda.
Of note is the Rancho Road Sidewalk Project that is also going to the
Traffic and Transportation Advisory Commission (TTAC) on the same day, at
6:00 in the Board Room. It's the first item on the TTAC Agenda and the
purpose of the item is to receive public input. You are encouraged to
attend and provide comments. This is the same project that was presented
at the last BAT meeting - but with changes based on BAT recommendations.
Have a great rest of the week and weekend.
