Question of the week: Is ok to indulge over the holidays? My philosophy
is yes. Why shouldn’t we partake in the pleasure's life offers us? Like
everything, this is a question that is answered differently depending upon
the individual. Indulging for some is having a slice of pumpkin pie with
TG dinner. Others a six pack of Bud. I don’t think one day of indulgence
is going to affect the overall outcome of your strength and fitness. Allow
yourself to be human and enjoy the fruits in your basket.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Safety Tip of the Week: Ride One or Two Across-Ride single file or double
file as appropriate to the roadway and traffic conditions and where allowed
by law. Even where riding double is legal, courtesy dictates that you
single up when cars are trying to pass you if the lane is wide enough for
them to safely do so.
When riding with us:
· wear helmets and ensure your bike is in good working order
· stay in bike lanes and no more than two abreast on them; single file
otherwise
· not overlap wheels
· descend carefully! Look out for debris, animals, potholes, tight
bends, and slick spots
· pass slower riders on the left
· ride predictably: signal when changing lines and call out hazards
· avoid bunching up
· respect all traffic rules and the rights of motor vehicles,
cyclists, and pedestrians
· always use proper hand signals to indicate to drivers and other riders
your intentions
· we are a "rules of the road" cycling club
· Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is
either actively raining
or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club
ride.
Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions;
however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride

Please consider bringing a donation for Manna to our holiday party. Please
bring: non-perishable items such as cereal, soup, canned meats, rice,
beans, cake mix, gravy, canned fruits and vegetables. They also appreciate
cash or check donations and we will have a box or envelope for that as
well.
“Getting Food Into The Hands Of *Those Who Need It”*
Manna: Some 47 million people across America struggle with hunger every day
and more than 20,000 live right here in the Conejo Valley. Getting food
into the hands of those who need it is at the core of Manna’s mission — “To
feed hungry people in the Conejo Valley.” For more than 40 years, we have
acquired and distributed millions of pounds of food to friends and
neighbors in need throughout the Conejo Valley.

Question of the week: Should I bike in to the Landing? Yes! If you live
within 5 miles of the Landing, you should ride in. It will take you longer
to load up your car than it does to ride over. It gives you a nice warm up
since there is no one pushing the pace, and cool down for the same reason.
It's also easier to stop off for a doughnut on the way home if your name is
Jim.
Safety Tip of the Week: Stay on the right side
<http://www.marc.org/bikeped/sharetheroad.htm> of the lane-Ride in a
single-file line with other cyclists (not two or three abreast) if the
street is too narrow for cars to pass. Cyclists are allowed to ride in
the middle of the lane to increase visibility. Keep an eye out for parked
cars (or rather, doors from parked cars opening into the street). Avoid the
dreaded door-into-cyclist snafu by staying a little bit closer to the
center of the street if there are parked cars. Also, move towards the left
side of the lane when turning left. Stay out of drivers’ blind spots

especially
at traffic lights or stop signs.

Too unpredictable. We probably will get those 14 drops of rain after other
14 drops we got this morning but in any case you can't tell so I'm going to
cancel.
Sent from my phone that doesn't know what I'm saying. Sorry for all the
mistakes.
I have been hesitant about putting out a ride, as I know it is so hard to
believe there is something called RAIN.
BUT... if those weather people are wrong... let's meet at the Landing as
scheduled at 3:30. That would be IF it is dry and not raining.
If you want to check in with me, here is my number 818 621-1713.
Thanks all,
Would love to see you all tomorrow, but... also want to see a little rain,

Question of the week: Question of the week: Will I reach one million
miles cycles at age 82? We can all be inspired by this goal, but it does
take a lot of commitment. Russ Mantle of the UK recently did just that,
cycling an average of 14,700 miles per year for 68 years. I’ve pedaled
33,000 miles at age 50, so it’s not looking good for me.
Safety Tip of the Week: See and Be Seen-Whether daytime, dawn, dusk, foul
weather, or at night, you need to be seen by others. Wearing white has not
been shown to make you more visible. Rather, always wear neon, fluorescent,
or other bright colors when riding day or night. Also wear something that
reflects light, such as reflective tape or markings, or flashing lights.
Remember, just because you can see a driver doesn’t mean the driver can see
you. Make eye contact with other road users, especially at junctions, then
you know they’ve seen you.
