Hey CVC Members,
We are in the process of putting together the silent auction for our
Benefit Ride. We need some help right away. Sign-ups for volunteers for
the day of the ride will be out in March, but the auction is a "behind
the scenes" job that we currently need plenty of help with. Here's how
you can help:
We need items for our silent auction:
1. If you have a service or product that you can donate, please contact
me as soon as possible. This does not have to do only with cycling.
2. We need a few people on a committee to get out in our community and
take over the gathering of goods, products, and gift cards for the
silent auction. (restaurants, clothing stores, bakeries, cycling part
connections, helmets, gyms, tree trimming, local hotels, spas, etc) This
begins now as it becomes the backbone(2nd to the cycling of course) of
the event. Kent will handle the local bike shops, but your club
tremendously needs volunteers who can help with this endeavor.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENT
Hey CVC,
The weather looks cooler with a little breeze this weekend - so layer up and tuck in!
On Saturday, we have three rides going out. The Red Ride will be going up the Westlake Wall to Mulholland and over Latigo down to the beach, then north through Zuma and back up Mulholland. The Orange Ride will be heading out HIdden Valley, dropping down Potrero to the Camarillo Bike Path and back home through Santa Rosa Valley. And the Gold ride will be rolling out around Lake Sherwood and up Treasure Hill to Dos Vientos before swinging through Thousand Oaks and home over Las Flores.
On Sunday, we've got two rides this week. The G.O. Ride will be rolling through Oak Park before heading up to King Gillette, then up Mulholland and Lake Malibu before an up-n-back into Lobo Canyon. The Social Ride is cruising down Agoura road, up Mureau and the Long Valley stop at the bridge before rolling back the same way.
We've also got midweek rides Tuesday and Thursday mornings. And the Wednesday afternoon ride with Sheri.
Always be more aware when riding with your group. You are the eyes of everyone behind you and the voice to point out obstacles, vehicles and other hazards. Keep your spacing generous and focus your efforts on the climbs.
Let me know if I can help with anything bike or ride-related. I always have extra gear, supplies and my toolbox, pump, etc.
And let's ride!

Calling all CVC'ers,
On May 5th, 2018, Conejo Valley Cyclists will hold the 2nd Edition of
our annual fundraiser, the Conejo Valley Cyclists Picnic Ride & Benefit.
Because our club made the inaugural event so successful, it’s time WE do
it again, and continue to support our community. Last year, CVC and its
members made donations to 2 local organizations; Conejo Open Space
Foundation and The Mike Nosco Foundation. With an even larger
participation by our members, we can surpass last year’s donations—be
sure to return the survey sent out to every member last week and be part
of the decision making process that chooses this year’s charitable
organizations.
Just like last year, all members will be able to participate and enjoy
the fun. The Picnic, Ride & Benefit will focus on the one thing that has
made CVC a great club for more than four decades—sharing the roads with
each other and enjoying the sport we love. Just like last year, we want
the entire CVC Membership to participate. And, just like last year we
are looking for your friends or family to be involved as a volunteer
whether at the regroup stops, as a SAG member, helping to set up or tear
down the picnic, or as part of the team helping with the silent auction.
Because this is a "members only" event, we need you to sign up as soon
as possible, so we can create the best ride and celebration for each CVC
Member! Below are some details about the event…
· The event start location is at the Thousand Oaks Community Park and
rides begin at 8:00 am & 8:30 am.
· Your pre-paid registration includes route slips for the 2 scenic
routes of 50 and 75 miles, (with an option to shorten the 50), complete
with supported regroup stops and SAG support.
· The post-ride celebration will continue at the start location and
will include lunch from a gourmet food truck, music, a silent auction,
and more!
· Remember…This is YOUR ride, YOUR Day, and YOUR Event. So, please
sign up now and be part of a club you ride and event that help make our
community a better place!
· A $65 minimum donation allows us cover expenses for the ride and
still be able to donate to an organization that CVC members chose.
· There will not be any official CVC club rides on May 5th to
encouraging everyone to participate and support CVC’s annual fundraiser
and official spring ride.
· Extra lunches are available for purchase through the registration
link: $20/adults and $10/children under 12. No Tickets will be sold the
day of the event.
· There will be NO "DAY OF" registrations or lunch tickets sold. YOU
MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED TO PARTICIPATE. REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE
APPROXIMATELY 1 WEEK PRIOR TO THE EVENT.

As cyclists, our reasons for riding are many: beautiful scenery,
managing stress, achieving goals, staying fit, socializing, along with
many other reasons. But, the goal of our May 6th Picnic, Ride & Benefit
is not only to ride for the reasons listed, but to ride with a purpose:
giving back. CVC has set this special day aside and encourages all its
members to participate and help to help make the Conejo Valley and the
Cycling Community stronger. Just like last year, our goal again this
year is to limit the volunteers we need to provide a greater per rider
donation to charitable organization you and other CVC members have
chosen.
Again, there will be a $65 minimum donation to participate in the Conejo
Valley Cyclists Picnic, Ride & Benefit. There will also be extra lunches
available for PRE-SALE Only ($20 for adults, and $10 for children).
Ready to sign up now and help make a difference in our community? Click
the link below for easy login and sign up! As always, there will be a
place to make extra donations.
