Hey CVCrs,
As you may have seen on the ride announcement from President Sheri, we are having a special MTB/Gravel ride out at Sycamore. For those of us Vampires that are coming off of the winter night rides, it’ll be a nice warm up for riding in the daylight (since daylight savings is almost here and we will be back under the Sun on the Bi-Thursday night ride soon)!
This ride is MTB length, but Gravel friendly (mostly fire road with some singletrack). For those of you Gravelers that would like a little more distance, ride from home and meet us at Wendy and Potrero at 9 AM Sunday morning. The pace will definitely be social and we will be having a good, fun time and looking out for each other.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all out on the trail!

Another attempt at braving all sorts of CA weather.
Thursday is supposed to be a good day, no killer winds, no hail, etc.
Let's meet at the landing at 9;00.
Maybe head east toward Lobo, or 7 m in. or Cold Cyn....
See you then, bundled of course,

Hey CVC,
Thank you all so much who took the time to fill out the survey. Though
there were a few areas that I wish were pinpointed a little better, but we
got some good information and are thankful for your positive feedback. We
ended up with 97 responses.
I am going to share some results with you, but will not post any names or
personal comments for privacy reasons. I will summarize some open
responses.
Most members who are not currently riding, are not riding due to Covid,
cold weather, or injuries. Some have other time commitments or restraints.
We were happy to see that just about 90% were ok with their climbing level
in their group.
41% of members want to move up to the next level and 36% are happy where
they are. The reasons they do not move up are concerns over speed or
fitness levels, and for some it is a time factor.
Then for the question I wish I had written better, (more on this topic
soon).
It asked how you felt about "away" rides.
People seem to like the idea of them, the change of scenery. Half of the
people want a variety other than the Ventura coast, and others want just
the coastal areas as it is easy to get to, beautiful, and close. Very
opposing views. If anyone has good ideas for routes outside of Santa
Barbara, and Ventura area, please let me know.
For now as a board, we decided to go every other month, though more in
summer. Time factor seems to be the biggest issue in people wanting to do
"away" rides, which again, leaves us to the closest areas, Santa
Barbara/Ventura area.
We are also looking at remote start locations for rides that are close, but
a change of scenery.
Another question that had a unique answer was this:
Clearly this was split in the middle. For sake of continuity, we will
continue with an 8:30 start time in the winter. The yellow indicates
changing to 9 only if it was too cold, but comments indicated too much
change was not a good thing. I cannot seem to get the second page of
responses to paste on.
And 8:00 in the summer, starting July 1st. There were a variety of single
responses to this one.
[image: image.png][image: image.png]
*And now for the reasons people Ride with CVC*. It made me so happy to see
this, and it is a good idea for everyone to remember why we are all here
riding in the best club around. I think all of you should give yourself a
pat on the back for being one of the friendly, fun, and encouraging CVC
riders!

Well, Thursday is coming and it is yet ANOTHER wind day.
Crazy... 22+ miles an hour predicted.
So... yet again, we will meet in downtown Ventura at the Mission/Museum
parking lot to ride along the beautiful coast at 9:00. Beautiful warm
views and a short drive away...
About 35-40 miles.
Anyone is welcome to join the unofficial ride.

Just a quick trip to Ventura Mission Park, ride up to Carp for Coffee and

These Windsdays are a lot this year, but the coast is beautiful!
