Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.
Hello Conejo Valley Cyclists!
Welcome to June, the beginning of the summer pub ride starts! Each week we
will host a summer evening hump day ride, WEDNESDAY evenings at 5:30! We
will start at a different location each week, and end with a social
gathering at one of the local dining establishments. These rides will last
as long as our days of summer last!
Lisa Gutman, Kent, and I are organizing these weekly rides. The pace will be
a gold+ pace with rides averaging about 20-22 miles. We have others offering
to host a ride as well, so if you are interested, (or can and will be able
to), we would love help hosting and planning a mid week summer evening ride.
Please let me know. Often times we will need a head count to reserve a
table. Keep checking your weekly announcements since the location changes
weekly.
This first ride we will all meet outside Pitfire Pizza in Westlake.

Let's be ready to ride at 5:30, this week with a ride around Westlake, up
through Hidden Valley with a left turn around at Hidden Valley Rd, regroup
at the end, and a return around the lake.
Regular Wednesday afternoon rides are on hiatus until the Summer Pub ride
ends.
See you THIS WEEK.
Sincerely,
Your Summer Fun arrangers,
Sheri L. and Lisa G.
Your agreement when riding with CVC: All members will:
Wear a helmet and ensure my bike is in good working order. Ride to the
right, pass on the left. Ride in the bike lane (where available) and signal
when moving into another lane. Ride no more than two abreast in the bike
lane, single file on narrow roads, and avoid "swarming". Call out and point
if I see a traffic hazard. Respect ALL traffic laws and the rights of all
autos, bicycles, and pedestrians. Ride predictably and remind others to be
safe. Be a bicycling ambassador.
Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either
actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to
cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these
conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.
CVC CLOTHING IS HERE!
I have multiple boxes with hundreds of pieces of CVC Clothing.
They will be sorted and disbursed as mentioned earlier.
Because they are not individually wrapped, this is done as a "pick up and
sign off".
Please make it one of these two designated times.
We have TWO scheduled pick up dates!
The first is tomorrow, MAY 31st at : The Community Rooms located at the
Westlake Village Civic Center (31200 Oak Crest Drive)
<image001.jpg>
31200 Oak Crest Dr. Westlake Village, CA 91361
This is where we have held club meetings in the past.
I will be there on Tuesday night, 5/31 from 6-8.
The next we will try and arrange on Sunday after the ride on the following
week.
This is a major deal to organize and pick up as we have over 220+ pieces of
clothing to hand out.
Please arrive at one of these two times as we will not be carrying the
clothing around in our cars for distribution.
Please understand we will not be doing any exchanges. We ordered a few extra
pieces of clothing for new members, or members that did not get to order,
that we can sell AFTER the pre paid items have been picked up. IF you have
something that doesn't fit, AND we have stock left, we can look at an
exchange then if the tags are still on.
The Tuesday evening 5:30 pm Rock Store ride continues on Tuesday May 31st
at 5:30 pm PDT sharp. The ride leaves from the Landings parking lot.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
Please wear your CVC jersey when riding with the club.
Continue to communicate all road hazards and your intentions while riding ("left turn, slowing, rolling").
The weather has been great with lots of cloud cover, but the sun is summertime hot, so remember the sunscreen and drink, drink, drink. Consume as much as a bottle an hour and you'll avoid the painful dehydration bonk!
Please remember when parking at The Landing for any weekend morning rides to park and congregate towards the far end of the lot away from the street and use the middle row. Do not park next to the homes.
Please note the inclement weather policy below. The Purple ride is considered a no drop. Having said that, please note that if you are falling behind or slower than the average pace, you may be dropped. All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). If you get to a regrouping spot and no one is there, consider yourself dropped. As always we will try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together. If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader. It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition (check expiration on helmet inner tag) and that your bike is in working condition as well.
Safety Reminders
As the weather heats up, remember to hydrate. It is recommended to drink as much as a full bottle for each hour of riding!
If you notice another member with a full bottle, a little reminder can help out there too.
Debris in the roads continues to be a huge hazard. Keep your head on a swivel and call out everything.
One by One, Two by Two when it's appropriate (narrowing lane single, bike lane and appropriate vehicle lane double)!
If there is a marked bike lane, cyclists may ride shoulder to shoulder. Single file otherwise. There is no three or four abreast at any time while moving. Please remember that when you are out there riding you are a cycling ambassador. And, if you are wearing a CVC kit, you represent the club, so please be sure to follow the rule of the road. Below are some reminders...
Your agreement when riding with CVC: All members will:
Wear a helmet and ensure my bike is in good working order. Ride to the right, pass on the left. Ride in the bike lane (where available) and signal when moving into another lane. Ride no more than two abreast in the bike lane, single file on narrow roads, and avoid “swarming”. Call out and point if I see a traffic hazard. Respect ALL traffic laws and the rights of all autos, bicycles, and pedestrians. Ride predictably and remind others to be safe. Be a bicycling ambassador.
Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.
Hi Guys,
This week lets ride around the Los Robles/Las Padres Trails. This is a
shorter ride of around 7 miles, but very fun and scenic with
some moderate climbing.
We will meet at the trailhead at the South end of Moorpark Rd and
Greenmeadow
We will keep the pace at (for lack of a better description, and I know my
audience) a gold level. I'm shooting for mostly fire roads, and fun, but
not overly technical single track. This is not a beginners ride, but will
be doable for most anyone with MTB experience. I will keep the riding to
about 1.5 hours so we will have no problem finishing before dark.
*Again, this is a fun ride, we will not be hammering*.
*Be ready to ride at 5:30PM*
My goal is to have fun and introduce some of you the many fun areas we have
to ride around here...and learn of a few from y"all too.
As with all CVC rides, helmets are mandatory. Make sure your bike is
prepped, and be sure to have plenty of water.
