Save the date for Annual Club Spring Event and Charitable Mixer-May 6th,
2017
Dear CVC Member,
Save the date: Saturday May 6th to celebrate CVC’s Annual Club Spring
Event and Charitable Mixer. Preliminary plans include a CVC organized
club ride, unlike any other ride of the year, followed by a delicious
gourmet Food Truck lunch.
Many club members attended the Cruisin’ meeting last August where we
held an in-depth discussion about the future of the event. At that, and
other follow-up meetings, we brainstormed together on how we might
reformat the event while simultaneously continuing to organize a fun and
meaningful social event for CVC members that meets the club’s charitable
goals. As a result of feedback from those meetings along with numerous
informal discussions with many members since August, the CVC Board has
determined that Cruisin’ the Conejo will be taking a hiatus. Our plan
this year is to make the same kind of charitable impact in the community
while creating a more intimate and social club event that is geared
toward CVC Members. We see this as an opportunity to create an
exclusive and fun CVC members-only event that will have a greater
charitable impact on our local community, as well as strengthen the
connections between CVC club members.
CVC’s Annual Club Spring Event and Charitable Mixer will be limited only
to current members of CVC and will require a donation. By limiting
participation and creating a club event, we are cutting many of the
expenses that were unavoidable and rising each year with Cruisin the
Conejo. Fewer expenses translate to a higher percentage of each
participant’s registration fee being freed up to go directly to local
charitable organizations.
Which local charities? We will be sending out a survey with a list of
charitable candidates soon so that CVC members can help us with the
charity selection.
We are still working out the details of this new and exciting event.
Some ideas that we are working on include roaming “SAG” support along
with stocked and supported regroup spots on routes that rival Cruisin
the Conejo. And for after the ride, we will celebrate our club members,
our friendships we have forged, and our community with a festive lunch
and silent auction.
We want everyone to be involved and will need your help! Although this
year’s event will be smaller in size and complexity than Cruisin the
Conejo was, we will still need volunteers, (members, family and friends)
to help out with pre-event planning, tasks, and the event. Please be on
the lookout for an e-mail announcing the date of our first 2017
committee meeting that you can attend to learn more about how everyone
can help out.
Let’s enrich others through OUR own Conejo Valley Cyclists community.
Sincerely,
Sheri Leiken
CVC President
And the rest of your Spring Charity Mixer Ride Team
