*CVC Saturday Gold Ride, July 2, 8:30am
Meeting at the Citybank Parking Lot, Westlake Village, (corner of
Westlake Blvd & Agoura Rd)
*Route: Hidden Valley CCW, 40 miles with 2,600' climbing.
Hey Gold Riders,
Here is a new route to take some of the 'ho hum' out of the regular
rides. Some of this ride includes the Cruisin' route and part of
Cruisin's Junior Tour. Some new roads along the way.
Basic route description. Leave toward Hillcrest Dr. going up Westlake
Blvd. Hillcrest Dr. to Ventu Park. Up Rancho Conejo past the Baxter
Building to the end. Back to Wendy Dr. across the freeway to Old Conejo.
Reino Road to Borchard. Via Ricardo to Lynn Rd. Hidden Valley to Decker,
Carlisle Rd and back to the finish with a lap around the lake.
Here is the route with RideWithGps: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/507553
where you can view the route and print out a cue sheet.
The Gold Ride is an intermediate recreational ride, 30 to 40 miles in
length with an average pace of 14 mph. It is not a "no drop" ride but as
always let's try to stick together as much as possible. If you are new
to CVC or just trying us out please let me know before we start.
Remember to park in the area along Westlake Blvd (between the street and
the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the
Shops/Market. If we do not respect the requests of the lease tenants we
could be asked to park elsewhere.
After the ride, please join us at one of the many refueling options
available at the finish such as the Natural Cafe', Sea Casa, East Coast
Bagel, Sprouts Market, etc,.
/Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is
either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club
policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and
ride in these conditons; however the ride will not be considered an
official club ride.
/See you Saturday!

CVC Sunday Social / Recovery Ride -- Sunday, July 3rd - 9:00am
Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. &
Agoura Road (North East Corner)
Come out and join us for a social paced ride (14 Mph Avg. Speed).
Approximately 30 miles and then stay a while to socialize afterwards by
having an after-ride beverage and snack.
Up in the rotation this week is the popular Northern and North Western
Thousand Oaks / Lynn Ranch ride.
For those that have not ridden this route before we climb North up Westlake
to Arboles. A quick hop over to Pederson and around to Big Sky / Wildwood
Park. We then cut through the residential area of Thousand Oaks to avoid
Lynn Road where we end up in Lynn Ranch.
A couple return options exist with a final cut through at what I call
Pentagon Park back to Village Glen Plaza.
See you there !
After ride socializing - Natural Cafe' Restaurant - Patio and/or front
grassy courtyard area. There are many options at this location for beverage
and food establishments.

Hi Everyone,
Kent will be out of town this Saturday so I am posting the route for the
orange ride. Norm Weir will be leading us down Portero into some cooler
Camarillo weather.
Take a look at Ride with GPS for more info and/or a route sheet.
http://ridewithgps.com/routes/504485
++Please note the route sheet is not 100% accurate, could not get the line
to connect through Reed Rd Bypass, La Granada, and Pentagon park onto the
cue sheet++ We can discuss some re-group spots prior these areas so no one
gets lost.
As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot at 8:30and have our
pre-ride announcements prior to splitting into our groups and departing.
The Orange ride is an intermediate/advanced recreational ride 40 to 50 miles
in length with an average pace of 15+mph. It is not a "no drop ride" but as
always let's try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride.
Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either
actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to
cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these
conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.

Greetings,
Several CVC members have expressed interest in getting in more miles in
preparation for events like "Cool Breeze" (August 20th), Cycle Oregon
(September 10th), and other scheduled century rides. With that in mind,
lets get it started with a very flat and cool coastal century on Sunday,
July 31st, 830 AM. We will start and finish at "Neptunes Net" on PCH. The
ride takes us to Carpenteria and back with only 900 feet of climbing (that
is a not even a bump in the road for most of the CVC gang).
Brig a little cash for Neptunes feast after the ride, route slip attached.
(Park on the south side of PCH) The more of us that come out the better!
See you then,
John Caffrey

Last summer the club held its first and highly successful summer club BBQ.
We had 90 club members and their families join for a fun filled
afternoon/evening for good food with good friends.
Read about last years BBQ and see pictures at http://www.cvcbike.org/?p=2813
Saturday, August 27, 2011, the club will be hosting our 2nd annual summer
club BBQ.
I will be sending out detailed information soon (as well as an RSVP list),
however in the meantime, Save the Date!
Date/Time: Saturday August 27, 2011 / 4:00pm - Sunset
Location: Oak Canyon Community Park - 5600 Hollytree Dr., Oak Park (On
Kanan just East of Lindero). This year we have both Pavilions reserved
which is at the top level of the park.
Map: http://bit.ly/clQU5h
I know this is 2 months away but wanted to get the word out.
The club will buy meats to BBQ (Burgers, Chicken, Hot Dogs, etc) with all
the condiments. Members, feel free to bring you favorite side dishes to
share.
**Please note this is an exclusive invite to current CVC members and family
only.
If you are not a current CVC member and would like to join or renew, you can
do so now by following the below link:
https://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=12216
Additional Information:
#1 You may wonder how many people to plan for in regards to the side dishes
you will be bringing. Since we will have quite a large group, it would not
be reasonable to plan to have a portion for everyone.
If your side dish could feed 10 people, that would be adequate as we will
have a lot of side dishes from our members to choose from.
The club will buy meats to BBQ (Burgers, Chicken, Hot Dogs, etc). Members,
feel free to bring you favorite side dishes to share.
#2 NO alcohol is allowed on park property.
#3 If you are a vegetarian or vegan, please let me know so items can be
planned accordingly.
#4 One more thing, you MUST have fun! There are some fun child (and adult)
related parts of the park right by the Pavilion we have reserved. Play
areas with playground equipment as well as a cool splash pad / water play
area.
Any other questions, please reply to me directly.
