Hi All,
This week lets ride the 3 lakes route with a jaunt through North Ranch for a
little extra entertainment! Its about 45 miles and 3000' of ascent.
For a detailed map and route slip, got to:
http://ridewithgps.com/routes/678224
As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride
announcements promptly at 8:30AM prior to splitting into our groups and
departing.
The Orange ride is an intermediate/advanced recreational ride 40 to 50 miles
in length with an average pace of 15+mph. It is not a "no drop ride" but as
always let's try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride.
Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either
actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to
cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these
conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.
After the ride, please join us at one of the many refueling options
available at the finish such as Natural Cafe, Sea Casa, East Coast Bagel,
Sprouts Market, etc..
Please remember to park in the area along Westlake Bl.(between the street
and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the
Shops/Market. If we don't respect the requests of the lease tenants, we
could be asked to park elsewhere.
See you Soon,

Saturday was a very hot and humid day. Therefore just as the purple ride is
doing, the social ride tomorrow (Sunday August 28, 2011) may have some route
adjustments in order to accommodate how everyone is feeling (and recovered)
from Saturdays hot ride.
I spent the whole day 7:30am to 9:30pm working on the 2011 CVC Summer Club
BBQ which was a great success with an amazing turn out of 130+ CVC members
and their families. My feet are on fire and my back is yelling at me. I
just got home from unloading everything in our storage shed. Therefore
there is a good chance I won't make it to the Sunday Social Ride.
The proposed route was our Northern and North Western Thousand Oaks / Lynn
Ranch ride. The route slip and profile information can be found here:

Bring adequate water, electrolytes and energy (food).

Hi all Purples!
We got pretty well toasted on today's ride and since it's not going to be any cooler tomorrow, on Sunday, we are dropping the Petting Zoo route. Those who still wish to get in some spinning are invited to come out for some easy runs around Westlake while you socialize.
Bring lots of water & wear your sunblock!

Big shout out to Ed Morris for the nice words this week in his Cycling
Newsletter.
Ed wrote, ".I was asked to mention the resurgence of CVC (Conejo Valley
Cyclists) Racing Team. CVC has a long history of racing going back to the
early 80's but over the past decade the race team aspect of the club more or
less fell by the wayside. A couple years ago some guys in the club decided
that the race team needed to be revived. This year they really got serious
with about a dozen racers competing at all of the local events. Starting out
as Cat 5's, they've progressed to Cat 3 and have a whole bunch of good
results. 1st places at Manhattan Beach, LA Circuit, Ladera Ranch and
numerous podium and top ten results. They have good club support and are
building on new sponsorship for next season. So, if you're looking for a new
team next year contact Mitch Albo [5311allday(a)gmail.com]. You can check out
current riders on the club website: www.cvcbike.org. They also have a
Facebook page, just search Conejo Valley Cyclists, Race Team."
Thank you Ed and congratulations to a VERY successful race season for CVC.
The CVC Race Team will be back and better for 2012 mostly as a CAT3 squad.
