Dear CVC,
As many of you may have heard, we lost our former Ride Director and
friend, Bart Ziegler.
This is posted from his son:
I regret to inform you all that Bart has passed away this morning
10/28/21, around 8:45am. Rest In Peace.
I ask that if you have any questions please reach out to my Facebook
profile, Tristan Casadei
I would also like any of you who have pictures of Bart through his life
to either post here on his page with some words, or DM them directly to
me.
He was a man who gave so much love, so I am sure many of you returned
that love and are feeling a great deal of pain now. Just know that he is
free now, and in a place full of love and understanding.
Following is a summary of his last weeks here with us.
As most of you know, Bart was a fighter. A man who never gave up easily.
But after attempting to recover from his 3rd heart attack, his body was
just put under too much stress.
His heart was mostly dead and functioning at only 10%, creating a
slippery slope of other health issues including kidney and liver
failure.
The original plan of getting a heart transplant failed due to a
multitude of reasons, and the pain in his body became too great for an
attempted recovery.
After I arrived On Sunday 10/24, Bart refused life sustaining treatments
and asked for comfort management for his way out.
On Tuesday 10/26 he was moved into a beautiful hospice facility, Cottage
of the Meadows, in Yakima, Washington. His closest relatives were able
to visit him here, and say their final goodbyes as he faded away.
He had no pain or discomfort in his last days, only love and support.
I will post updates regarding plans for his memorial celebration.
I ask today that you take a moment to reflect and reminisce on any
memories you have with Bart, and send love to him in his after life.
Much Love,
Tristan
Hi everyone,
as Sheri mentioned below, we badly need one or two people to help out for three hours or so down at the Leo Carrillo rest stop( see her email). It will be easy and very rewarding. If a few of you CVC’rs that were not planning to ride could step up and help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Volunteering is what keeps the club going!
Thanks!!

Hi All,
Come take a look at the last opening of the Club Kit and Clothing this year!
This will be the last time to order club bibs, shorts (both comfy),
jerseys, and even your cooler weather clothing such as jackets, arm warmers
and vests.
Check out the website, and remember, place your orders quickly as the store
is only open for 2 weeks. Opens Monday Morning!
We recommend the Volare Elite for the most true fit.

Good morning CVC, the streets are soaked in Agoura Hills and there is a
heavy drizzle falling.
You are welcome to ride on your own. I’m going to wait for hopefully dryer
roads in the afternoon.

Hello CVC, Happy Friday.
Hoping this correspondence finds you all in good health and spirits.
I had a bicycle accident a couple weeks ago ( 10/05 ).
The injuries that I incurred require me to rest to advance my return to light office hours, socializing and eventually riding. My right wrist was cast this past Monday, the meniscus tear is healing along with the road rash and bruising. The left ankle may need attending but the best news is that I have been cleared by the neurologist. I am a lucky man.
My family, doctors and a very good friend have taken good care of me.
The many good wishes that I have received via email, text and phone are much appreciated.
I have elected to take it easy for the coming week and then reach out to engage and then socialize.
Thank you for support,
Richard Paul Aguilar

Dear CVC Members,
CVC will be joining forces with Trek Bicycle Westlake Village to support
the Nosco Foundation on our Saturday, October 30th Rides.
ALL SATURDAY ride levels on this day will be used to help the Michael P.
Nosco Foundation.
Though the "traditional" Nosco ride will not be happening this year, we are
asking all CVC Members to go out and ride your club ride in honor of Mike
Nosco. The foundation created in Michael Nosco's name is helping to raise
funds for 8 specific recipients with life threatening illness.
Using his brother Jack's words, we feel that loyal and loving cyclists and
the community will rally behind our recipients.
"We ask that during the week of November 3rd, no matter where you are in
the world, that you get on your bikes and ride in honor of my brother Mike
and that you direct your Love, Hope and Community toward each one of our
recipients, who are facing life-threatening illness and could use our love."
CVC will be posting our version of "Nosco" routes for this "unofficial"
edition in the near future.
We will be departing from Trek in Westlake Village and will be led out by
the Ventura County Fire Department and a few lead cars. For the longer
rides, we will ride out together to a memorial in Camarillo then through
your choice of climbs back, (routes will be provided). If you choose to do
a shorter route, you will not be going to the memorial, but will have a
route in Hidden Valley and will still be enjoying and contributing.
We will be holding a snack/rest stop for you hosted by our CVC member Gary
Silver and Trek will also have a place to stop for food and drinks.
We are asking that all riders (and even non riders) make donations directly
to the Nosco Foundation in any amount, using this address:
https://mikenosco.com/
100% of donations go directly to the Nosco Foundation.
You are welcome to join the Strava club (Mike Nosco Memorial Bicycle Ride)
and post your rides.
In addition, there will be a Zwift ride on Wednesday November 3rd from
5-6:10pm PST for our indoor virtual ride hosted by Zwift (more official
announcement to come as we get closer).
Again, please make a donation to help 8 special local people who are
suffering through life threatening illnesses.
Please go to the website to read about the history of the official Nosco
Ride (which had to be postponed) and to make your donation, and there you
will find the stories of these special recipients. You can donate to the
general fund, a specific recipient, or you can make a donation in memory of
someone you would like to honor.
When putting your name in, add "CVC" a*fter your last name OR in the memo*.
Let's pay tribute to Mike Nosco and ride with a purpose.
https://mikenosco.com/
Meeting at 8:30 am and roll out will be by 9:00 am from Trek Westlake
Village.
Stay tuned for more info! BUT... please let's start making those donations
today!
