Dear Conejo Valley Cyclists,
I just want to extend a HUGE thank you to all of you who joined in to help
with Cruisin the Conejo. This event absolutely could not happen without the
help of all of you, from leaders who put in endless hours of planning and
prep, to those who came at wee hours, to those that stayed all day or
weekend long, to those of you that helped ahead of time, and to those of you
that rode the event! THANK YOU TEAM CVC!
So many positive, emails and comments are being sent in.
For those of you who don't know our team leaders, here they are.
Kent Koral, Your Cruisin Director.
6-7 months of work from Course design and routes, to your expo event, tents,
set up, rentals, to overseeing everything, to moving toilets the night
before the ride, to chasing down and begging for permits in every county,
often driving from downtown LA to Ventura County, and working in-between, to
planning, to marking, to advertising, to being the MC, to well, he did
it!!!!!
Thank you Henry for your presidency, for being involved in every part of
this, (including toilet moving) for the ongoing newsletters, facebook posts,
connecting with shops, meetings, late night texts, paperwork, finishing
touches, keeping us all calm, so, so much more..etc.
Harlene Roen: THANK YOU from all of us for your diligent work in gathering
the most incredible amount, and high level raffle and auction items we have
ever had, and to setting up our vendors. She set up your vendors for the
expo, and made it all work.
To Jim Doane and Jeanne for diligently working with Harlene on this!
Thank you Kay for making them all look good!
Thank you to Mike Hackett, the incredible rest stop captain who really
turned it up this year, working with the scouts, and so many of you, making
this an incredible ride with incredible stops! The best we ever had!
Thank you to Sherrie Felton for your behind the scene help, for the hours
you put in creating route slips with no errors, to sitting up on Latigo to
cheer on our 125 Bruisers!
Thank you to Bart Z. for so many things, his amazing art, creating those
amazing jerseys, for the beautiful posters and ads, for the backdrops done
at the drop of a hat, and for donating the most generous raffle prize of
all, his custom wheels.
Thank you to Alfonso for coming to all of the Cruisin Planning meetings, to
the course marking and unmarking, for just being right there for us with
planning, set up, tear down, whatever pops up, run around, let's try
something new..investigating. .
To Jerry for the amazing Podium, set up, clean up, and sticking a little 125
mile ride inbetween!
Thank you girlfriends Amy, Harlene, Lois, Sharon, and Jeannie, for stuffing
over 700 goodie bags after work one night!
(and thanks to Harlene and Richard F., we had something to stuff them with)
To the organizers of the CVC junk all over the booth, (Connie and Lois).
Connie, my calming friend, always knowing what to say and do, To Sheila and
Bruce's calm at the end of Cruisin, to Cathy Sternstein for organizing and
running registration and all the time in preparation of papers, registration
booth and forms, aaahhh, so much!

the scenes!
And I won't forget all of you that brought so many smiles to riders out at
the rest stops. You all rocked it!!! No other way to describe this.. Your
encouragement, dedication just was amazing. And those working the expo both
at registration and raffles, to those of you who led the kid ride. Some of
you coming at the last minute to help with this!
I can't post those pictures, but they are absolutely priceless. Imagine, if
what we do creates that passion for riding in the kids. wow!
Thank you everyone who showed up before 6 am, not just to ride, but to make
this work. Seriously, this is an amazing contribution and testament to our
club.
To Dale, all runners who did endless work, Mitch and the SAG group, thank
you to the parking and safety crew, Taylor H, and wow, I could go on and
on, and I know I will forget someone because there were over 100
volunteers!!!!!!!
Thank you to Those of you who physically set up and tore down, and made a
really difficult job so much easier with their help, ( I still see Colleen
in her clean up gloves!) Thank you! Thank you!
This was an incredible event and we really do have an incredible club!
Thanks for reading this long email, and signing up for the Volunteer Spots
everyone. Even if I didn't call you out by name, each and every one of you
are so appreciated!
Cruisin 2016 was a huge success!
Sincerely,
Sheri
And the best news yet.. Club kits should be shipped next week. (I am seeing
who is reading this, and yes, it is true!)
Please scroll down to read a couple of letters that were sent to us
following Cruisin, and you will then feel your pride!
Dear Cruisin' Team,
A homerun on Saturday! The entire event from pre ride publicity,
registration, on going communications, day of events, et al was done with
great care and thoughtfulness. I want to
especially commend the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts for their extraordinary
service at the rest stops. "May I hold your bike for you sir?" "How is the
ride going for you sir?" nearly
brought this 70 year old Eagle Scout to tears. That my participation in
your excellent event benefitted their character building program was a
wonderful plus, and well deserved for
their efforts.
An event such as this one is the work of many hands; please extend my thanks
to all of the volunteers. I ride in many Century rides throughout the year
and this one is among
the very best. Many of them open registration for the next year's event
immediately after the conclusion of the current one, I will happily register
as soon as possible (and encourage
my SFVBC friends to do so as well).
Congratulations on a job well done!
And another:
Thank you very much for a great ride this year. I have done the ride for
many years and this was the best!
The 32 mile route was great, nice roads with wide bike lanes. The homemade
cookies were delicious as always. The lunch after the ride was the best to
date!
More important than the route and the food was the fantastic SAG. I had
three flat tires and the SAG van came and helped me, changing the tires and
then eventually giving me a lift back to the start. I was very thankful
they were there to volunteer and greatly appreciate them. I was also happy
to have Beeline at the expo so I could get a new tire and tube.
Thank you for the nice job you do!
