Thursday bike ride/picnic - Hidden Valley loop

Should be great weather tomorrow evening! C'mon out and join us! Thursday, May 5th, 5:30 p.m. (Around-the-lakers can start at any time - picnic @ ~7:00) Westlake Village Start (directions below) Route: Hidden Valley - Triunfo to Westlake to Potrero, Lake Sherwood Drive, Potrero, Hidden Valley Road and same way back, and around Westlake lake on return...approximately 20 miles. For CVC'rs, longer ride is between a "gold" and "orange" level. No drops. I wait for the slowest rider. RIDE START: Triunfo Road just west of the Dam (tennis) Club and little yacht club building in Westlake Village. (From the 101 Fwy, take Lindero Cyn. south until it ends at Triunfo. Go right on Triunfo a couple hundred yards...where there's grass, sidewalk, the lake...and park along the curb.) TIME: Those wishing to get in ~20 miles, 5:30, ready to ride. Those just going around the lake can show up at any time. PICNIC: After riding - picnic starts around 7:00 p.m. WHAT TO BRING: HELMET AND BIKE! For picnic, bring something to share (cheese, crackers, fruit, olives, pretzels, cookies, whatever...), a beverage (and something to drink it in if you don't want to drink out of the bottle), something to SIT on and a warm jacket. Also bring any friends, neighbors, relatives, S.O.'s and anyone else who might like to join us (preferably with bikes). Don't forget spare tubes, water bottles, etc. ROUTES: Longer ride: Routes will include Hidden Valley, Lake Malibou, North Ranch, and wherever. Around the lake: cruise around the lake in wide bike lanes...no left turns...~5 miles each loop...all flat, no discernible hills. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. * CVC Sunday Purple Ride -- Sunday May 8th- 9:00am Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Route: Malibou Lake Loop Hi Purple Riders, I am out of town again this weekend, but hope the group can work together to select a leader and sweeper at the start of the ride. *Special thanks to Mike Levy and Greta Adams for last weeks ride!* I am posting the Malibou Lake loop again, but feel free to change it if the group has other ideas. Wed. afternoon Landing Ride

What a beautiful afternoon to go pedal our bikes around. The Wednesday Landing ride is an intermediate recreational ride approximately 20-25 25 miles in length with an average pace of 14+mph. It is not a "no drop ride" but as always let's try to stick together and have a fun,safe ride. CVC Gold Ride, Tuesday Evening, 5:15pm, Citibank Start

Dale Smith will be leading the Tuesday Evening Gold ride again this week. There have been requsts for the Gold Ride to start at 5:15 so lets try this new time. Citibank start location to Malibou Lake - Rock Store - Mulholland Hwy - Decker Canyon - around Westlake Lake. 25 + miles with 2,100' of climbing. Same route as the Tuesday Red Ride (without upper Encinal Canyon) Starting at 5:15 Re-group at: Cornell / Mulholland and top of Rock Store. Here's the route using "Ride with GPS". A Cruisin' thank you

Hi everyone, Another Cruisin' is in the books and a successful one it was in spite of the wind we had. A quick note to tell all the CVC members who helped, Thank You! Emails are beginning to come in mentioning a great event, how well the stops were, a good SAG program, how well the start / finish went, the great BBQ, raffle, and most of all how helpful everyone was. Without your help Cruisin' would not have been that good nor as successful. Every job mattered and your dedication was evident. More on this years Cruisin' to come. Cruisin rest stop help

We have the need for a member to watch one of the rest stops. If you are interested please get reply back. This will be for the Encinal Canyon rest stop. We would want you to observe the stop, take notes on how things went, take pictures and bring back any Clif product. The hours would be from 9:30 to 12:30. Thanks, Lee

Cruisin help

Cruisin' is less than 24 hours away and wanted to put out a note. There is a need for an additional member to help with the 12 Mile Junior Tour. This will stay close to the start / finish. Please let me or Joan Sauber know if you can help. Many of you have volunteered for general help Friday afternoon and Saturday morning or evening. There will be set up going on from 4:00am through 9:00am. The earliest part of set up is taken care of so if you have offered to be of general help come on by around 6:30 and we will put you to work. You can get in touch with me by email or my cell. It is (805) 732-5982. For those who offered help In the afternoon Friday about 4:00. Saturday around 4:00 we will begin to close down and will need more as time goes on from there. In between we are looking for anyone to be there meeting people, letting others know about CVC and Cruisin'. Many of you have volunteered for specific jobs and We noticed as registration built there were a lot of riders out there, in our local community that are not members of CVC. They do not have to be but coming to Cruisin' and meeting current CVC members they may want to consider joining. We would also like you to wear our new CVC jersey's if possible. The more they see CVC is out there the better. We want them to know who puts this event on. Cruisin' the Conejo is all new this year with many new ideas and visions. CVC Sunday Social / Recovery Ride -- Sunday May 1st - 9:00am

CVC Sunday Social / Recovery Ride -- Sunday May 1st - 9:00am Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Route: Reyes Adobe / Lindero MUP / Forrest Cove Come out and join us for a local social paced ride (14 Mph Avg. Speed). Approximately 25-30 miles and then stay a while to socialize afterwards by having an after-ride beverage and snack. The plan for this Sunday is to head North on Reyes Adobe, cut through the school which puts us on Lindero Cyn., where we will find our way to the Multi Use Path that meanders through Oak Canyon Park. >From there we can take the not too traveled residential side streets to work our way South which puts us at Chumash Park all without having to ride on Kanan. Once there we can choose the return route and/or extension (I.e. Agoura with a Carlisle Canyon loop, Thousand Oaks Blvd to Forrest Cove Park pass though or a Malibou Lake loop). This route uses lightly traveled roads that avoid the traffic of the major streets. After ride socializing - Natural Cafe' Restaurant - Patio and/or front grassy courtyard area. I wanted to share the latest "Cruise News" that was sent out to all registered Cruisin' riders. I hope to see our club out in force this Saturday in club colors representing. The Expo this year is going to be massive. Come out and have some fun helping run the show that your club has been hosting for over 26 years! We are a few days away from Cruisin' 2011 on Saturday, April 30, 2011. The weather forecast is calling for beautiful spring event day weather; Sunny and mid 70's! - Nissan, proud sponsor of Team RadioShack and Official Vehicle of the 2011 Amgen Tour of California, will be at Cruisin' the Conejo. The "Pace the Race Tour" gives thousands of cycling, endurance and performance sport enthusiasts the opportunity to drive the 100% electric Nissan LEAF, a vehicle that fits their healthy and active lifestyle due to its 'no tailpipe, zero emissions' technology. Stop by and take a drive. Nissan is donating $1.00 for every test drive to the Stage 7 Prize Purse during the Amgen Tour of California event on May 21. - Our friends, U.S. Blind Tandem Cycling Connection, a non-profit 501(c)3 need our help and will have a booth at our Cruisin' Expo. They are in need of any used gear; helmets, cycling apparel, etc. that you no longer need or have use for. All donations will be put to good use making a blind cyclists dream come true! - Expo: We have arranged a massive expo this year. As part of this expo, some of our local bike shops in conjunction with their vendors will have demo bikes available to ride. Cruisin' registrants can ride the entire event if they wish on the bike of their dreams from BMC, Scott, Giant, Felt, BH, Cannondale, etc. - Friday night, April 29th is our optional in person pre-registration/packet pick-up which is being held at the ride start/finish location. 2504 W.
