CVC Sunday Purple Ride -- Sunday July 17th-9:00 AM Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Greetings, This week's Sunday Purple Ride takes us to Carlisle Canyon, out and back. It is only 13.3 miles but several extension options are available. You can add in some Hidden Valley scenery or add a lake loop a the end depending on what the group wants to do. Greta and Beth will handle the leading and sweeping as I am out of town on Sunday. *Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. CVC Ventura Away Ride for Saturday 7-16-11 9:00AM Mission Park, Ventura

Hi All, Since The Royals were playing Polo last weekend, We put off our Away Ride one week to this weekend. As you may have read in Jim's post, we are heading up to Ventura for a little cooler weather and a full bag of ride options. For the first time since I've been involved with the club we will take all 4 Ride levels up to Ventura including the Purple Ride lead by Beth. All the routes will ride together for the first few miles and then break up at Casitas Vista Rd. From there, Gold, Orange and Red will continue to Lake Casistas for the first regroup. We will then, for the most part, go our separate ways. *We will start at 9:00am* from at the "Mission Park Parking lot" just off Santa Clara St. See the directions and info below** Here are the routes: Purple: Beth; Ojai out and back. Appx 22 miles and 600' of climbing Gold Lee; Ojai Loop. About 35 miles and 1700' of climbing Orange: Kent; Casitas pass to Carpenteria and back Via the Coast, Around 45 miles and 3000' of climbing Red: Jim; Casitas Pass, Toro, Montecito,Carpenteria,and Back via the Coast. Nearly 65 miles and 5000' of climbing I have attached cue sheets for each of the routes heirin that you can print out at home. Here are the routes in Ride with GPS. Note that the ride options available on this ride can correspond to the standard ride definitions of our different Club's colored rides (Purple, Gold, Orange & Red). Thursday bike ride/picnic - Lake Malibou loop

Apparently some people were turned off by the high humidity last Thursday, but I hear there was still a bunch who had a great ride (and probably picnic, also)! The weather should be fantastic this week...not so hot and humid. (You think it was humid here...you should try Florida!!!) Thursday, July 14th, 5:30 p.m. (Around-the-lakers can start at any time - picnic @ ~7:00) Westlake Village Start (directions below) Route: Lake Malibou - Triunfo to Westlake, right to Agoura Rd to Cornell, left to Mulholland, around the lake and same way back (unless some want to do Rock Store) ...approximately 19 miles. For CVC'rs, longer ride is between a "gold" and "orange" level. No drops. I wait for the slowest rider. RIDE START: Triunfo Road just west of the Dam (tennis) Club and little yacht club building in Westlake Village. (From the 101 Fwy, take Lindero Cyn. south until it ends at Triunfo. Go right on Triunfo a couple hundred yards...where there's grass, sidewalk, the lake...and park along the curb.) TIME: Those wishing to get in ~20 miles, 5:30, ready to ride. Those just going around the lake can show up at any time. PICNIC: After riding - picnic starts around 7:00 p.m. WHAT TO BRING: HELMET AND BIKE! For picnic, bring something to share (cheese, crackers, fruit, olives, pretzels, cookies, whatever...), a beverage (and something to drink it in if you don't want to drink out of the bottle), something to SIT on and a warm jacket. Also bring any friends, neighbors, relatives, S.O.'s and anyone else who might like to join us (preferably with bikes). Don't forget spare tubes, water bottles, etc. ROUTES: Longer ride: Routes will include Hidden Valley, Lake Malibou, North Ranch, and wherever. Around the lake: cruise around the lake in wide bike lanes...no left turns...~5 miles each loop...all flat, no discernible hills. Citibank start location to Malibou Lake - Rock Store - Mulholland Hwy - Decker Canyon - around Westlake Lake. 25 + miles with 2,100' of climbing. Starting at 5:15pm Same route as the Tuesday Red Ride (without upper Encinal Canyon). Dale Smith will be leading the ride. Re-group at: Cornell / Mulholland and top of Rock Store. Tuesday Morning Ride 8:30

Hi CVC Members, We are off and running on our Tuesday Morning Ride. Let's meet at Citibank Parking Lot, (usual spot) at 8:30. Should be a nice, not too hot day. WE WILL MEET EVERY TUESDAY DURING THE SUMMER at this same time and day! The Tuesday Morning ride is an intermediate recreational ride (gold to orange level) approximately 25-30 miles in length with an average pace of 14+mph. It is not a "no drop ride" but as always let's try to stick together and have a fun,safe ride. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. Route will be decided upon together, but looking at a Las Virgenes/Mulholland Route Hope to see familiar AND unfamiliar faces Tuesday Morning. *CVC Saturday Gold Ride, July 9, 8:30am Meeting at the Citybank Parking Lot, Westlake Village, (corner of Westlake Blvd & Agoura Rd) *Route: Santa Rosa II, 31 miles with 2,500' climbing Hey Gold Riders, I am sure you all know the summer heat is on and we cannot escape it. Please be diligent in getting well hydrated at least the day before we start our rides. It is almost impossible to make up for this during any ride in the summer. Bring the largest water bottles you can fit in your frame, bottles are cheap. Not having enough water sucks. And don't forget about electrolyte replacement along the way. There is excellent source of nutrition / supplement information on the CVC website. Here is the link: http://www.cvcbike.org/?page_id=1284 With that said, lets head out towards Moorpark but take a detour to some new areas off Santa Rosa Rd. Please take a look at the link with RideWithGPS to view to understand where we are headed. There are two places to get water and restrooms along the way. One at the gas station / quickie mark just before the top of Norwegian Grade, the other at the Starbucks on Erbes and Los Arboles. Please keep this in mind when viewing the route sheet. The Basic route will be up Erbes to Los Flores to Moorpark Rd. Top of Norwegian Grade, down to Santa Rosa Rd. Right on E. Las Posas Rd and up to Precilla Rd, along the ridge and back down to Santa Rosa. Follow Santa Rosa back to the Read Rd bypass, up Olsen to Sunset Hills to Erbes and back to the finish. The Gold Ride is an intermediate recreational ride, 30 to 40 miles in length with an average pace of 14 mph. It is not a "no drop" ride but as always let's try to stick together as much as possible. Remember to park in the area along Westlake Blvd (between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the Shops/Market. If we do not respect the requests of the lease tenants we could be asked to park elsewhere.
