Hey CVCrs Its finally here, the Elks BBQ Ride. But we have to earn it. So here you go, I offer you this weeks riding menu! We have shortened the rides so as to get back to the parking lot and over to the Elks BBQ by 11:30 or so. For more info on the BBQ, see my post from earlier this week. Below is a re-cap of the rides this weekend and next week. See the ride leaders individual posts on the mail list for more information. Saturday: 8:30am Start at Citibank/Sprouts parking lot at Westlake Bl and Agoura Rd. - Purple: Petting Zoo route with Beth - Gold and Purple Plus: Rock Store with Lee - Orange: Rock Store/Hidden Valley O/B with Me - Red: Hidden Valley/Dos Vientos/T.O. with TBD Sunday: 9:00am start at Citibank/Sprouts parking lot at Westlake Bl and Agoura Rd. - Purple: Wildwood loop with John - Social: Hidden Valley/Greenmeadow MUP with Adam Next Week: - The Tuesday Evening Gold and Red rides - Sheri's Wednesday Afternoon Landing Ride - The Thursday Evening Gold and Red rides - Jan's Thursday Picnic ride There are only a few weeks left before the Picnic ride and the Tuesday/Thursday rides wrap up for the season, so get out and enjoy them while you can. The Tuesday night MTB Ride Starts THIS TUESDAY 9-27. Look for a formal announcement this weekend. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. Looking forward to a great weekend/week of riding!!!!! CVC Sunday Social / Recovery Ride -- Sunday September 25th - 9:00am

CVC Sunday Social / Recovery Ride -- Sunday September 25th - 9:00am Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Hidden Valley / Green Meadow MUP Route Come out and join us for a social paced recovery ride (14 Mph Average Speed/Pace). 30 miles maximum and stay a while to socialize afterwards by having an after-ride beverage and snack. Please remember this is a social paced recovery ride and while that may mean slightly different paces for different people, I attempt to keep the group together as a whole on these rides. The theory is to recover from our Saturday training rides and socialize. Off we will go through Hidden Valley and climb up the hill to Treasure Hill Ranch. A quick descent to a right on Reino Drive where we then take Lynn Road to Green Meadow Drive and cut though the well hidden Multi Use Path behind the Los Robles Golf Course which runs us out on to Moorpark Road. Down Moorpark Road and up our new favorite hill, Las Padres Drive which connects un into the surgical center on Halland Drive which parallels the 101 FWY to Rancho Road. From there up Rancho Road to La Granada Drive where it connects to Conejo School Road. Down Conejo School Road through a few more lightly traveled residential streets and back. After ride socializing - Natural Cafe' Restaurant - Patio and/or front grassy courtyard area. CVC Saturday Purple Ride, Elks BBQ, Sept 24, 8:30am Meeting at the Citibank Parking Lot, Westlake Village, (corner of Westlake Blvd & Agoura Rd)\ Purple Route: Petting Zoo 18.8 mi / 902’ climbing Purple+Plus Route: Rock Store, 22 to 25 miles, approx 2,000' climbing Hey Purple Riders, It's BBQ Saturday! If you never joined us for the Elk's Lodge BBQ lunch then get your taste buds set for a delicious treat! The Purple route will be the Petting Zoo! This follows all of our other club-mates all the way to the base of Rockstore! The Purple and Purple+Plus Ride is an beginners recreational ride, 15 to 20 miles in length with an average pace of 12-13 mph. We will then introduce our next guest speaker, Dr. Rich Cimadoro, D.C. 2) Bikefit and Posture on the bike -Importance of a proper bikefit based on your flexibility, experience, injuries. -Importance of efficient pedaling and how it affects your muscle development and power. -You know not to slouch at your desk, then why do you slouch on your bike? -tips on engaging your posture for better endurance and less pain. 3) Tips on Reversing the Muscle Imbalances Created by Cycling - I ride a bike, therefore I'm in shape. True or false? - I can ride my bike, garden and pull weeds in my backyard with no back pain? Yes or no? - I can ride my bike 100 miles, but I can't run around the block, let alone wield a chainsaw. Yes or no? The goal is to broaden the perspective of how we use our bodies while on the bike and later when moving in the real world. Rich will introduce some simple exercises and off the bike exercise options to improve your cycling enjoyment that can be implemented immediately. 4) Club committee reports I still have a small quantity of club cycling socks priced at $5 a pair. For those who would like to extend their legs you can follow the Orange ride all the way or at least to Potrero Rd. BBQ at the Elks Lodge after! See the basic route description and RWGPS link below. See Kent's previous emails for details on the BBQ. Special Note: It has been over a year for me and will certainly be going up slower than normal Gold pace. Thursday bike ride/picnic - Hidden Valley loop

Only *two* more Thursday ride/picnics. Due to loss of daylight, we're ending the picnic rides September 29th. C'mon out and join us before it's over! Mitch came last week and brought a bottle of wine!!! Since there was no picnic last week, he promised to bring it tomorrow night! Thursday, September 22nd, 5:30 p.m. (Around-the-lakers can start at any time - picnic @ ~7:00) Westlake Village Start (directions below) *Route:* Hidden Valley - Triunfo to Westlake to Potrero, Lake Sherwood Drive, Potrero, Hidden Valley Road and same way back, and around Westlake lake on return…approximately 20 miles. For CVC'rs, longer ride is between a "gold" and "orange" level. No drops. I wait for the slowest rider. *RIDE START:* Triunfo Road just west of the Dam (tennis) Club and little yacht club building in Westlake Village. (From the 101 Fwy, take Lindero Cyn. south until it ends at Triunfo. Go right on Triunfo a couple hundred yards…where there's grass, sidewalk, the lake…and park along the curb.) *TIME:* Those wishing to get in ~20 miles, *5:30*, ready to ride. Those just going around the lake can show up at any time. *PICNIC:* After riding - picnic starts around 7:00 p.m. (where the cars are parked). *WHAT TO BRING:* *HELMET* AND BIKE! For picnic, bring something to share (cheese, crackers, fruit, olives, pretzels, cookies, whatever…), a beverage (and something to drink it in if you don't want to drink out of the bottle), something to SIT on and a warm jacket. Also bring any friends, neighbors, relatives, S.O.'s and anyone else who might like to join us (preferably with bikes). Don't forget spare tubes, water bottles, etc. ROUTES: Longer ride: Routes will include Hidden Valley, Lake Malibou, North Ranch, and wherever. Around the lake: cruise around the lake in wide bike lanes…no left turns…~5 miles each loop…all flat, no discernible hills. If you wish to be removed from this e-mail list (unless you're getting the notice from CVC), please let me know. Also, feel free to pass the information on to friends, family and S.O's. Hi Everyone, This week is our end of the summer Elks BBQ Ride (see my post from yesterday) so we will be riding somewhat shorter route to get everyone back for the BBQ. The Orange ride will be riding Rockstore/Upper Encinal/HV out&back. 35 miles and 3000'. For a detailed map and route slip, got to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/726945 As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride announcements promptly at 8:30AM prior to splitting into our groups and departing. The Orange ride is an intermediate/advanced recreational ride 40 to 50 miles in length with an average pace of 15+mph. It is not a "no drop ride" but as always let's try to stick together and have a fun,safe ride.
