This Saturday's Ride 10/31 + Nosco Zwift Ride

Dear Conejo Valley Cyclists, This coming weekend, your team at CVC will be supporting the Mike Nosco Foundation. Many of you know that the Nosco Ride is a long time favorite challenge in the Conejo Valley. This ride was formed to honor Mike Nosco whose life was tragically taken too soon. Over the years, amazing cyclists, volunteers, friends, and family turned out in the thousands to participate in what has become known as the "Nosco ride". This year we are trying to keep up a small part of the tradition virtually and also and in a much smaller scale group out on the road. The Nosco Ride supports financial relief to families and/or individuals who are confronting a life threatening illness.The recipients for 2020 are already selected and are available on the website. They are all facing horrific illnesses and your support may provide them with a little less worry. Normally, the ride would take place on November 3rd, the day that Mike Nosco passed. However, due to Covid, an actual road ride with hundreds of riders will be impossible to manage within Health guidelines, so CVC will be doing its part on *Saturday, October 31st*, by suggesting that our club riders face a challenge of their own, and ride the routes in honor of Mike and those that are suffering. Club member and former Orange Ride Leader Gary Silver will be out nourishing us at a regroup spot on the 3 longer routes and will provide some snacks for CVC members. We do ask that you do not linger due to our 2020 "no large gathering" time. Gary Silver will be at the Leo Carillo lot after the Mullholland left turn. Details on pre-ride announcement at the start. Hey CVCrs, The CVC Weekly Winter Zwift Series is getting back underway this week! We are running on Monday (Kent Koral) and Thursday (Shane Mann) from 5:30pm -7:00PM This time window allows riders some flexibility since *you can now join a Zwift meetup up to 30 minutes after it has started *(cool!) Monday will be in Watopia riding the “Sand and Sequoias” route with Kent Koral. It will utilize the "meetup only view" and. "keep everyone together" Meetup functions. this will be on Zoom. Zoom will give you the option of transmitting both audio and video out to the meeting, or just audio if you want to forgo the video feed. This is another great option we utilize to keep the chat fun and lively. You will still be able to see those that are feeding video. Again, there are many YouTube videos out there that you can watch to learn everything you need to know about Zoom meetings And of course, if you want to forgo the Discord and the Zoom options, there will be plenty of interaction going on via text on Zwift itself from/with your leaders! Nosco Memorial Ride

CVC, This has been a tough year for so many. As usual, CVC will continue to support the Mike Nosco Memorial RIde. The Michael P. Nosco Foundation supports Southern California communities whose mission is to provide financial relief to families and/or individuals who are confronting a life threatening illness. The foundation's mission is realized by organizing an annual cycling event, the Michael Nosco Memorial Bicycle Ride, to generate revenue. CVC will have rides the week prior to this event that mimic the regular Nosco ride, and though we will not have the same experience riding with hundreds, we can all still make a donation, purchase the clothing, and support this foundation and the cause. Here is some information: We are excited to be partnering with Zwift this year. In order to comply with current Health & Safety guidelines, we will be having a Zwift virtual ride on November 3rd between 5:00pm & 6:10pm. This will be a departure from previous years, but we are sure you will still have an amazing experience on this new platform! You can join the ride for free as Zwift will have for this ride, a free registration to their site, just for the Nosco ride. More information to come. We will also encourage you all to get outside and ride the 80 mile or 48 mile Liv routes for the entire week leading up to November 3rd. We will have a place to post your ride and have a leaderboard, where we can see how everyone did this week. Your donations will go to this year’s recipients (TBA). So, this *Peloton with a Purpose* has been redirected, but not canceled or postponed, we have adapted and will overcome, all the while still remembering why we ride!
