Hey All you CVC'rs, CVC, you are an amazing group of people AND riders. The main reasons people give for engaging in road cycling are for fun, exercise, and socializing. For those even more passionate about cycling, serving as a volunteer leader offers opportunities to get more involved in ride leadership, route planning, safety education, cycling advocacy and event planning. These activities enrich the riding experience! The core volunteer leadership team is uniquely engaged in sharing the joy of road biking with fellow riders- some who have been ringing for years, and others who are just discovering this incredible activity. Our ride leaders, rides, and events create a remarkable sense of community and encouragement to others in a whole different way. As I said, you do not need to be the strongest and fastest rider to be a ride leader. Your role is to ensure everyone feels welcome before, during, and after the ride. A positive attitude, a good route and an eye for safety is what you need. Come find out what it is all about! Share your ideas, share your leadership and share in some collaboration with others. We would love to have you come join the ride leaders meeting even if it is just a thought right now. Please let me know if you can come to the meeting on Thursday at 5:30 (plan is to keep it to an hour). Find out what the leaders do, what is expected, what guidelines we have and find out how you can help your club out. Share in the love for sure! -- Sheri

Hi CVC, Just want to remind everyone that we have a Ride Leader's, Ride Captain's, Meeting this coming Thursday, September 23rd at 5:30. This will be held outside in our backyard. This is for anyone interested in helping out with rides and those of you who are already leading. I want to remind you all, CVC is run 100% by volunteers. You do not need to be the strongest and fastest rider to be a ride leader. The ride leader's role is to ensure everyone feels welcome before, during, and after the ride. All you need is a positive attitude, a route, and an eye for safety. Please know you are needed and appreciated. It is your time to give back. I will need your RSVP. If you have not heard back from me with my address, please send me another note in case I missed you. See you at 5:30 for a drink, pizza, and information! -- Sheri

CVC Thursday biweekly MTB ride news

Hi CVC MTB'rs, As we transition into fall, we are seeing the sun setting much earlier. With this being said, we are needing lights on our MTB rides (both head and tail). For now, we probably won’t be turning them on except at the very end if at all (or if we get caught out due to a mechanical, etc), but in a few weeks that will change. So make sure you have your lights up to snuff, or replace the ones that are not. If you have any questions about lighting, feel free to reach out to me. This Thursday we are going to ride Las Virgenes Canyon and Lasky Mesa. We park at the north end of Las Virgenes Rd. by the apartments and ride at 5:30 PM sharp. This is a really great route and is very suitable for gravel bikes. Come on out and have fun. Should be a stellar evening out in the dirt!! Looking forward to seeing you all! Hi CVC! All of you are invited and encouraged to participate in our upcoming Ride Leaders Meeting. Come hear about how you can help support your volunteer run club and be involved! See what it takes as we are looking to add ride leaders to the present roster. We have some upcoming changes coming your way and would love you to be a part of them! Ride leaders are the heart and soul of the club and we look forward to seeing many more of you involved!. On* Wednesday, September 18th at 5:30-7 at our home*. (Will send address with RSVP), we are going to have a ride leaders meeting. (this will be in the backyard) This meeting is for *existing* ride leaders and any one of you who have thought about leading a CVC ride and want to find out more. Even if you can only lead occasionally, we still want you involved. If we have more leaders, we can spread the fun around. Last Summer Pub Ride

Well, all good things have to come to an end... And this is the end of the summer pub rides. Thanks to all of you who have taken on a ride, a party, a reservation, fun on the ride, fun on the after ride... It has been a really great time. Laurie is our last volunteer leader. If you have not been on one of the summer rides, come on out and enjoy a last summer social activity! Our last ride will leave out of Stonehouse, and it will be a simple out and back to Hidden Valley, (from Lakeview) Left on Hidden Valley Road and a return. Stonehouse should not be too crowded as it is after the holiday weekend, but... give a little time for parking here anyway. Thanks Laurie! See you at 5:30 at Stonehouse in Westlake! -- Sheri
