Important Information regarding Sunday’s Ride

> To all CVC members, > There have been a few emails that have gone out regarding a ride that is occurring tomorrow. The first was innocently enough a few individuals looking for a simple social ride, the second email went far beyond that and I apologize to anyone that this may have been offended (and we appreciate the dozens of phone calls and emails we received on this matter). It was not caught by those of us that monitor our email system and we apologize for this. As per our CVC bylaws, the CVC is not a platform to discuss politics or philosophy about any issue except those that directly impact cycling. Club Clothing order info

Hi All, Good news is, we should be able to resume riding as a group soon as the state has had some more ease in restrictions. I saw this cool headline today. Reopening California: State to allow schools, pro sports, gyms, bars to begin resuming operations next week I will be working with the CVC B.O.D to come up with some social distancing/safety plans. In the meantime, we are extending the on line ordering for one more week. I am expecting some more samples to arrive but UPS keeps delaying. The company shipped them a week ago and UPS keeps changing their date. So to allow more people to see, we are going to wait. I apologize to those who already placed their order, but it is just one extra week. Remember, if you want to see, I have size Larges in Apex and Volare Elite Jerseys. They can give a good guideline. In bibs/shorts, Apex has more leg compression. Apex has a little shorter sleeve and lower collar, Volare has a longer sleeve, and more standard neck line. But neither of these are event level jerseys. They are both nice fabric, and an upper end level. Race cut is a skin cut, like a skin suit. Club Clothing..... Sorry for any confusion. Race Fit is BACK by popular demand.... I had too many requests so we are putting it back on. But I am still keeping my same message... the race cut is not just a "race" cut, it is a second skin. Here is a good comparison of the differences. https://www.ascendsportswear.com/custom-cycling-jerseys-comparison/sizing-c… Differences: Apex is a little snugger and lighter than Volare Elite. Not a huge difference, just slight. Volare Elite Sport similar to what we have. Kent is personally going down 1 size (must be all the riding). Relaxed fit will run big... same measurements, but bigger, boxy cut and so it may feel/appear big in your regular size. And Sorry, but on Apex, I did not mean it did not have a collar, it has a shorter collar than traditional jerseys. Look at Ascendsportswear website for a picture. If you feel you want to change your order, just let me know. I know it is hard to shop blindly, but it is what we have to do. Again, I am happy to open my garage for you to look at the jerseys/bibs I have. CVC possible group ride return

Hello CVC members, hope you are all doing well. The board is discussing resuming group rides beginning june 13. Please reply to Kent and me, letting us know if you are willing/able to lead in the current environment, and if there are any restrictions (group size etc). We will need ride leaders for all rides including Red and purple. Club Clothing Questions

I am so happy to hear the positive feedback on the new club kit! A few really good questions have come up and I would like to give some clarification and throw in my own personal opinion. The sizing chart offered gives recommended sizes based on your measurement, but it doesn't tell you how something is going to fit. So... I am making it simple. The relaxed fit is exactly how it sounds. A more relaxed, less tight fit. If you like things loser, this is the way to go. The sports fit is similar to the hyperthreads in the fit though maybe not quite as tight, but close. They are pretty true. We have eliminated the race cut and I will tell you why.... it is a skin fit. You know, those skin suits... you peel them off.... THAT is what the race cut is. I asked the rep "Who wears the race cut? ,and the rep said 20 something year old racers. Now that does not mean we do not have a CVCer that CAN wear this, but I don't want anyone thrown off by the word "race cut" nor have I seen anyone in our club except occasional tri racers wear this type of kit. IF you are going in that direction, I would more suggest the APEX cut jersey. It is with a smaller collar, and a fabric that has a little more stretch to it, and definitely runs smaller, but it is NOT a "skin" cut. It is only available in Sports cut. We do not have a picture of the APEX in our design, but you can get more info as you click into the company website. https://www.ascendsportswear.com/product-category/custom/cycling/tops-cycli… The APEX bibs and shorts offer more leg compression. They are working on photos. We chose this company because their classic Volare Elite was a great fitting kit for our members. So is the Apex. We liked the shorts, the jerseys, the fit, the sleeve length and the fabric. I do have men's and women's jersey samples in large both in APEX and in Volare Elite if you want to see them live just to see the difference. I can work on getting a couple more sizes if it helps. But I cannot do a fit night at my home, but I can certainly let you come see these in the backyard as a reference point. On a personal note, I am going with my regular size Volare Elite in the sports cut and Kent is going down (much to his own feeling of liking them tighter) with the Volare Elite Sports Cut. The Volare Elite is a little longer than Apex. I am happy to answer any questions or have samples in my backyard to see. If you absolutely feel you need to see a different size prior to purchase, let me know. CVC! Hope this finds you all well! Our hope is that we can find out very soon when we can reconvene as a club again. The board will work together to decipher county orders and discuss options which may make this more feasible as soon as we can. In the meantime, our clothing store is READY TO GO! I would like to thank all of the kit design committee members that worked so hard and gave their time and their input to create our new club clothing! However, I will have a couple of generic sample jerseys at my home and you want to see the fabric or size differences, I have just a few, (not one in every size) That said, I can safely say, these do fit really well. BUT... I would not base your size solely on what you have had before. PLEASE use their measurement guide to help you. If you like things a little loser, go with the relaxed fit, but then this may be bigger than what you are used to, so PLEASE measure. They are pretty relaxed. CVC Team, Please consider buying local. This is a hard time for all of our local vendors. These are the local stores and shops that survive on US! They have all sorts of ways of operating safely and need our business. Win's, The Hub, JRA Bikes and Brew, Trek Westlake, Michaels, Newbury Park Bicycles...Serious Cycling.. Pedego Most are business as usual, they will be there to service, and to sell. The Hub is taking appointments to keep social distance. Please be considerate and wear a mask. CVC bobble heads

Hello CVC riders. As Kent always says, "ride with your head on a swivel". This past weekend, I was riding along PCH from Deer Creek south to Latigo. While beach parking lots were not open, there were an extraordinary amount of people parked along PCH heading to the beach. They were not paying attention while parallel parking or pulling out. Surf boards, chairs, towels, dogs.... When I finally reached Latigo, I felt like I had been puckered up the whole trip. I recommend staying off PCH. In addition, the canyons are busier as well. I was passed by cars heading up Little Sycamore, on Yerba, even Cothrain. Traffic in the canyons has increased by 10 fold. I expect this holiday weekend to crazy.
