CVC Tuesday Evening Novice to Intermediate MTB ride, 6:00pm Cheseboro
by Lee Cole 10 Apr '12

10 Apr '12

CVC Tuesday Evening Novice to Intermediate MTB ride Meeting this week at Cheseboro Rd and Cheseboro Canyon Rd in Agoura Hills. Start time is 6:00pm This will be our second ride. Last weeks adventure in the Dos Vientos area was an absolute blast! This weeks ride is 7 miles in length with an elevation gain of 600'. Not much. We did 8 miles last week with the same climbing, stopped often to see the views, rest, watch the wildlife, took pictures, etc and made it back as the advanced ride finished. You do not have to have a fully suspended mountain bike or any particular mountain biking skills. We will help you get going. Along that line I was at the CORBA Free Mountain Bike Skills Clinic last Saturday, some other members from CVC were there also. Mark Langton led the class with 27 people of all experience levels. This clinic is very good and Mark presented the MTB skills clinic very well. There was one person, Elise, maybe 60 years old, who just purchased her mountain bike the day before, had not rode bicycles in many, many years and by the end of the clinic was going over obstacles, how to turn, how to use the brakes, going up a relatively steep hill and down. This is a great clinic and would recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about mountain bike riding. Even experienced riders could learn something. I know I learned a lot. A last point about Mark, he was the editor of Mountain Biking Magazine for 7 years and has authored two books on mountain biking. Here is the link to find out more about this clinic: http://corbamtb.com/programs/skills.shtml Here is the RWGPS route for this evening. It would be best to view this in satellite view. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1071688 Any questions you have contact me by email or phone. See you there! 09 Apr '12

As of now, there is a 90% chance of rain. If by chance the storm turns, I will send out an email Wednesday morning. Even if the rain stops in the afternoon, I am afraid it will be too wet, so... ride when you can and hope to see you all this weekend! Sheri

CVC Tuesday Evening Novice and Advance Mountain Bike Ride 6PM Cheesebro Canyon
by Kent Koral 09 Apr '12

09 Apr '12

Hey CVC Mountain Bikers This Tuesday both the Novice(with Lee) and Advanced(with Kent) Mountain Bike rides will ride Cheesebro Canyon. We will meet in the lower parking area and ride at 6PM. Don't park in the upper lot as the rangers will lock the gate (hence your car will have a slumber party with the Coyotes). Most of our rides are approximately 8-15 miles and last around 1.5-2 hours. The Tuesday evening Novice ride is a beginner/intermediate paced ride and the Advanced ride is an intermediate/advanced paced ride. Lets stay together within our groups, and have a fun safe time. At this point you probably wont need to use a light except for the end of the ride. After the ride we can hit Ladyface Brewery for some well earned refreshments. See you out there. (Okay, I've never seen any animals at the end of that road so maybe it's time we re-name the route? LOL) As usual, there will be an extra loop around Westlake at the end for those who would like and extra 5 flat miles. Here is a link to the Ride With GPS website that will show you the route. Be sure to print out a route slip if you are unfamiliar with the area. The ride is 18.8 miles with 902 ft. of climbing. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/303596 We will meet at Citibank (corner of Agoura Hills and Westlake), rolling out at 8:30 AM. Please come EARLY for parking! To see Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Purple Ride, click here: http://www.cvcbike.org/?p=3127 The Purple ride is a beginner club ride with a 12-13 mph average pace but is open to all levels. No one gets dropped and no one is left behind. Please make sure to wear the appropriate riding attire. Please check your bike prior to Saturday and make any necessary repairs.
