Sunday Social Ride February 10, 2013 Reyes Adobe /Lindero MUP Route

CVC Sunday Social / Recovery Ride Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Route: Reyes Adobe / Lindero MUP Come out and join us for a local social paced ride (14 Mph Avg. Speed). Approximately 25-30 miles and then stay a while to socialize afterwards by having an after-ride beverage and snack. The plan for this Sunday is to head North on Reyes Adobe, cut through the school which puts us on Lindero Cyn., where we will find our way to the Multi Use Path that meanders through Oak Canyon Park. >From there we can take the not too traveled residential side streets to work our way South which puts us at Chumash Park all without having to ride on Kanan. Once there we can choose the return route and/or extension (I.e. Agoura with a Carlisle Canyon loop, Thousand Oaks Blvd to Forrest Cove Park pass though or a Malibou Lake loop). This route uses lightly traveled roads that avoid the traffic of the major streets. After ride socializing - Natural Cafe' Restaurant - Patio and/or front grassy courtyard area. Many options at this location for beverage and food establishments. Things to have: Helmet !!! - Water to complete the ride or at least to reach the next water stop - Tools to perform minor repairs -Chain repair linkage - Inner-tube and pump (or the like) - Cellular phone - Food to replenish energy. See you there!! Dale Note: Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. CVC February Away Ride : Saturday, 2-9-13 9:00am Santa Clarita
by James Doane 06 Feb '13

06 Feb '13

Gold/Red/Orange Away Ride -- Saturday, February 9th, 2013 9:00 AM Start Time Weather forecast is for mostly sunny, high 53 degrees & winds SW at 9mph Santa Clarita, Bouquet Canyon, Castaic Lake, Castaic, Francisquito Canyon Rd., Santa Clarita AKA: Green Valley Ride ( we've ridden before) 9:00am Starbucks parking lot at the corner of Copper Hill Dr. and Smyth Dr Direction: North Freeway 5, exit at Rye Canyon Rd. turn East towards Smyth Dr which is after Newhall Ranch Road. Starbucks is on the right side. Starting in Valencia, out Bouquet Canyon to Elizabeth Lake Road, and back on Lake Hughes Road. At mile 52.8, there is a 2.1 mile climb with an estimated 6.1% average grade and almost 900' of elevation gain ( like our Rock Store). Very scenic. A good rest stop in at Popa's Country Store in Lake Hughes, or the biker's stop at the Rock Inn (bar & grill) across the street. Ignore the "metrics" that suggests a max. grade of 38%; there are a couple of steepish pitches of less than 1/10th of a mile in the aforementioned climb, but nothing to worry about. RWGPS Red/Orange Ride: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/331826 = 63 miles & approx. 5,500' climbing RWGPS Gold Ride = Shorter version: still has rest stop & water at same location in Green Valley http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2124425 : 44 miles approx. 4,900 ' climbing The nice part of this ride is that you can make it as long and/or as much climbing as you want by turning around at any point and coming back the same way you came up. Please let me know by responding to this email if you are planning on attending Ride leader for this ride will be: Jim Doane : jdoane1175(a)msn.com cell ph# (805) 217 4584 If there is a Gold Rider that will participate and lead also, that would be great. This is a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). As always, we will try to stay together as much as possible and have a fun, safe and scenic away ride. We will regroup regularly along the way ( at scenic places especially) to allow all in our groups to ride together as much as possible. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.
