Hey CVC Mountainbikers, The rides for this week are as follows. Tuesday we're riding in Dos Vientos. Meet at Wendy and Potrero at 6:00 pm Thursday we're riding in Malibu Creek. Meet in the parking lot in DeAnza Park on Lost Hills Rd. at 6:00 pm We have been finishing after dark so at this point you need to have your light with you. Most of our rides are approximately 8-15 miles and last around 1.5-2 hours. This is a ride done jointly with the Conejo Mountain Bike club (CMB). It is an intermediate/advanced paced ride and not a no-drop ride. but,lets stay together within our groups, and have a fun safe time. Hi CVC Members and Guests, Our revised G.O. Ride formerly called the Sunday Social Ride is typically 35 to 45 miles long with 2,200 to 4,200 feet of climbing and an average speed of 13 to 15 mph. As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride announcements promptly at 9:00 AM then splitting into our groups and departing. This Sundays G.O. Ride is as follows: 37.5 miles. 2974 feet climbing. Route: Westlake to Arboles left on Parkview then a Left on Erbes follow by a Right on La Granada, we will ride up Lynn to Dos Vientos and returning on Portrero. This route is recent addition to the rotation so have a route slip if you are unfamiliar with these directions. Dos Ventos Community Center for Restroom and Water This is a "drop ride" meaning that if you can't keep up with the group, and/or catch up within the re-group times - you are "on your own" to know the route from previous knowledge or by following the route slip. It is possible and/or probable that members can assist others with mechanical & other rider emergencies along the route however. Our re-group spots are meant to allow a short break & a chance for riders to catch up so that the group can ride together as much as is possible. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel the official club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. Please remember to park in the area along Westlake Bl.(between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the Shops/Market. CVC BBQ Reminder- This Sunday.

*Conejo Valley Cyclists 4th Annual Summer BBQ * *If you are coming,please let me know so I can * *hav**e the correct amount of food.* *When: Sunday, Sept 15th from 1pm until 5pm.* *Where: At our new **picnic** location at the Conejo Creek North Park at the Creekside Pavillion. **1379 W Janss Road. Thousand Oaks, CA 9136* *The club will buy meats to BBQ (Burgers, Chicken, Hot Dogs, etc) and supply drinks. Members, Please bring your favorite side dishes to share (see below for side dish additional information).* ***Please RSVP if you are planning on attending and how many in your party. Also let me know what side dish you are bringing.* *** We will need 2-3 volunteers to take care of the BBQing duties. Please contact me to help with this important task!* *Please note this is an exclusive invite to currently active CVC members and family only. If you are available to lead please let me know. Thanks.* *Route: Peter Strauss Ranch Loop* *For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2874337** * The *Purple Ride* is an entry level ride no one is dropped; however, if you are not planning on completing the route please inform the ride leader. Average distance is less than 25 miles at a pace of less than 12 MPH. It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition. *This is a "no drop **ride**" however, please try to stay together. As always we will try to stick together & have a fun safe **ride**. Fair warning...I may not ride this week. *Route: Rockstore via Cornell; Upper Encinal; Lake Loop; 29.2 miles; 3,231 Feet. **For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1411628 *The *Gold Ride* is an Intermediate recreational ride, 30-40+ miles in length and averaging 14+ mph. It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition (check expiration on helmet inner tag) and that your bike is in working condition as well. *This is a "drop **ride**" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). CVC ORANGE Away Ride : Ventura-Santa Paula

Hi All :After getting good suggestions about simplifying the Orange Ride route ( thanks Dennis) for this Sat.'s ORANGE Away Ride : Ventura-Ojai-Santa Paula -Ventura(It's more straightforward route-wise & less climbing too) I RE-drew the Orange route on RWGPS eliminating the residential streets in Oak View - which were confusing and easy to miss ( like the Cool Breeze was a couple years ago) So here is the CORRECTED ORANGE RIDE route : http://ridewithgps.com/routes/334180349.6 miles2334' climbing ( realistically 20% less as RWGPS is always high) Please look at it and print the route slip for use on Sat.Could be considered a GOLD Ride too ? Just by riding a little slower avg. speed? - as it fits in our club Gold Ride definition as to mileage & overall climbing feet Most significant climb is Dennison Grade: on route #150 east of Ojai - maybe is 1/2 of our Rock Store climb?Headwind can be a factor to returning from Santa Paula to Ventura though Another comparison between this Sat.'s Away ride routes: Sat.'s RED Ride version adds : Thatcher Rd. climb and Foothill Rd. rollers after Santa Paula ( a few extra miles and climbing feet) See you 8:30am at Mission Park parking lot in VenturaJim Doane : CVC
