CVC Saturday Purple Ride 8:30 Malibu Lake with Mulholland East Extension Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village. Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) This Saturday, the Purple ride will be doing the: Malibu Lake with Mulholland East Extension Hi Purple Riders, This week we will ride our Malibu Lake with Mulholland East Extension. Below is a link to the Ride With GPS website that will show you the route. Be sure to print out a route slip if you are unfamiliar with the area. The ride is 25 miles with 2244 ft. of climbing (IF you do the extension). Without the extension it is 19.2 miles, with around 1200ft of climbing. No one gets dropped and no one is left behind. Please make sure to wear the appropriate riding attire. Please check your bike prior to Saturday and make any necessary repairs. Although the Purple ride is a "no drop" ride, for the enjoyment and safety of the participants, we will keep a 12-14 MPH average. If you feel you are not Purple ready, but want to work up to the Purple level, please contact the Ride Captain who will gladly give you some pointers and advise. We strongly recommend that you come out and meet the riders! The best stepping stone to grow into a Purple rider is to ride around Westlake! When you can sweep those 5 flat miles at a steady 12 to 14 mph pace, and still feel ready for more, then you will be able to handle many of the standard Purple routes. Things you need for every ride: Helmet-Mandatory Water or Sports Drink I.D. Cell phone Spare tube CO2 cartridge or hand pump Patch kit Route slip Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. CVC Saturday LOCAL GOLD Level Ride -- Saturday July 14th 8:30 AM Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) for announcements; promptly at 8:30 am, then split into our groups to depart. Local Route: Rock Store via Juan Batista & Mulholland; Down Decker around the lake. 31.2 Miles. 3,054 Feet Water & Toilets: Mile 8 (JB Park) Water & Toilets: Mile 15.3 (PS Ranch) Regroups will be... Hi Everyone, On Saturday July 14th. starting at 8:30 AM there are two Orange rides on local and one away. Local Ride is heading to Las Virgenes to Mulholland returning on Westlake. The away ride is To Ojai-Northern Ojai-Dennison Grade-Santa Paula-Ventura The local ride is leaving from the local start to Las Virgenes then making right on Mulholland after stopping at De Anza Park and returning on Westlake Blvd. Include Hidden Valley for additional distance The Away Ride is Leaving from Mission ParkingLot Location: E. Santa Clara St. ( between Figueroa St. and Ventura Ave. ) on North side of Santa Clara St. and riding up to Ojai-Northern Ojai-Dennison Grade-Santa Paula-Ventura. Come on out this Thursday July 12th and join CVC for a ride out to Malibu Lake via Agoura/Cornell, with an optional Mulholland East Extension (5:30 p.m. Start) and Post-Ride Picnic (7:15 p.m. Start). ROUTE: Malibu Lake + optional Mulholland East Extension - Approximately 25 miles including a scenic climb up and over Mulholland Eastbound to Las Virgenes and a U-Turn back up Mulholland to Cornell. Please take a moment to review the route slip directly below this sentence for complete details. ROUTE SLIP: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1333041 PACE: This is an intermediate level ride that includes both Gold and Orange paces averaging 14+ / 15+ mph. NO DROPS: I wait for the slowest rider at each regroup point. DIRECTIONS TO RIDE START: Triunfo Canyon Rd in Westlake Village, just west of the Dam (tennis) Club and little yacht club building. From the 101 Freeway, take Lindero Canyon south until it ends at Triunfo. Go right on Triunfo a couple hundred yards. You will see a small building followed by a grassy area. Look for other cyclists getting ready to ride. Park along the curb. BE PREPARED: A helmet is mandatory. Other things to bring include water or sports drink; I.D. Spare tube(s); CO2 cartridges or hand pump; patch kit; cell phone. SAFETY NOTE: Please do not call out "clear" at intersections. The intersection may not be clear for the rider(s) behind you. If you start with the group but decide to cut the ride short or take a different route, please let me know at a regroup stop or leave me a message (cell: 908-432-3480) so I won't be waiting or looking for you. Bring your friends, neighbors, relatives, significant others, etc. ATTENTION PICNIC FANS: At the last two Thursday rides, Thursday ride participants opted not to gather for a post-ride picnic. Join us as we cruise around the lake and through the local neighborhoods. *FUN RIDE **Route: Around the Lake & the Neighborhoods. A Casual 12.0 miles & an easy 309 feet of elevation. We plan on a relaxed pace ride through Hidden Valley, past the estates of the rich and famous, and back to the start, around 20 miles. As always, if you do not have a classic ride but, still want to join us, you are more than welcome to come along. Hi all, This week the Int/Adv MTB ride will visit Malibu Creek State. Park. We will park and ride from Jaun Batista de Anza park at 6pm. Remember to bring plenty of water as it will be nice and warm tomorrow. The Int/Adv ride is not a no drop ride but lets try and stay together and have fun.
