Hey All CVC'rs
What happened to 2011! I just looked at the calender and realized we will
be celebrating Thanksgiving in 8 days.
And if you have been around for any amount of time, you know what that
means...
(drum roll please and cue booming voiced announcer)
*The Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Day Ride!*
That's right, here at the CVC you have to earn the right to plow through
all that Thanksgiving culinary bliss. And a nice, social paced, pre-chow
ride is just the ticket.
So, start working on those excuses to family, friends, visitors and loved
ones as to why you will not be around on Thursday morning due to a need to
ride your bike.
Some of my personal favorites are: "But honey, If I ride, I'll be able to
have a second helping of that vile, green, gelatinous desert substance that
your mother always brings to dinner" or the the ever popular " You know
riding puts me in a great mood, and helps me smile through Uncle Bob's
riveting tales of glory as a professional broom ball player".
So mark your calenders for the morning of 11/24 and look for your
CVC Ride Committee's formal announcement with start time and route in a few
days.
See you on the road and trail!

Hi Everyone!
I am TRYING to get out of work early to be AT THE START by 3:30, ready to
leave NO LATER than 3:35!
We had a great group last week and zoomed our way in and out of Hidden
Valley!
Let's try it again this week! Wednesday is supposed to be the best day
weather wise, this week! YAY!
We will be doing as much of the Hidden Valley Route that we can fit in.
The Landing ride is an intermediate recreational ride 20 to 25 miles in
length with an average pace of 14+mph. It is not a "no drop ride" but let's
try to stick together and have a fun, safe time.
Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either
actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to
cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these
conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.
Come on and ride with us!

Hey All,
Lets go back to backbone but this time we will ride the trail between Kanan
Rd and Latigo or Corral. We will meet at the Trailhead parking lot just
before the 3rd tunnel (the one closest to the beach) on Kanan Rd. This is a
bit more technical than the Encinal direction.
Be ready for a 6:05PM ride start.
Most of our rides are around 10 miles and last a bit under 2 hours.
The Tuesday MTB night ride is a social paced, no drop ride so lets stay
together and have a fun safe time.
Be sure to have a light capable of lighting a dark trail and lasting at
least 2.5 hours and bring a spare tube & pump at a minimum.
After we ride we will hit Ladyface Brewery to aid in recovery.
See you Tuesday night.

Hi Red Riders & All members:
As of now, Weather Underground forecasts 60% chance of rain during our ride time tomorrow morning.
http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?hourly=1&query=…
If it isn't actively raining at 8:30am, I plan on showing up at the ride start so we can assess local condtions
and a make a ride "go" or "no go" decision and/or guess at a probable dry ride selection at that time.
If no ride is decided- We can also re-group at a local Coffee Shop and have an informal member's meeting & socializing.
Jim Doane - CVC Secretary, Stalwart & Red Ride Leader
Our members meeting which was to be held on November 23rd has been cancelled
in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Many members will be out of town or with family that evening therefore your
Board of Directors decided to forgo the November members meeting.
Stay tuned for information regarding our January "General Members" meeting
where the 2012 Board of Directors will be introduced and installed.
