Happy Halloween everyone! From all the weather reports I'm reading it looks like the most rain will be falling tonight and after midnight, but will be tapering off in the early morning. So, it looks like we may have, at the worst, sloppy roads, and at the best, roads that are wet but drying out. If the roads are completely wet, consider the club rides cancelled. However, members and others may choose to ride on their own, as usually happens in iffy conditions, but again, it is not considered an official CVC club ride. For those who don't consider weather to be issue, please remember to ride carefully. The roads will be slick since this will be the first rain the roads have had in months. Turning corners, wet leaves, debris on the roadsides, motorists who may not have the best vision through their windshields. Lights and running tires at a lower psi are good options. Lets hope for the best: Lots of rain tonight, and dry roads in the morning. Sorry for you trick or treaters tonight, so bring your umbrellas. Cam Young Ride Director Conejo Valley Cyclists

CVC/Team in Training group ride--Saturday, Novembers 1st, 8:30 AM at The Landing Hey CVC’rs, “Some come for the exercise, some come to support a friend or family fighting cancer, and some come because Team in Training funded the drug that saved their life.” Come out and be part of the CVC/Team in Training (TNT) group ride on Saturday, November 1st at 8:30 am at The Landing (the usual ride start location). CVC is partnering with TNT to raise awareness and help kick off their official training calendar. This group of TNT riders will be preparing for the Lavaman Olympic Distance Tri in Kona, HI on March 29, 2015. TNT participates in Lavaman and other endurance events throughout the year to fundraise, raise awareness, and support the work of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Their official training calendar starts on Nov 15th but, TNT has graciously accepted our invitation to share the day riding with us. Founded in 1949, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, providing education, and patient services. The Thursday evening red ride will conclude for 2014 on Thursday October 30th, 2014. The ride leaves from the Landing parking lot at 5:00 pm sharp. The route is Reverse Potpourri: Up Westlake / Decker, left on Mulholland, Upper Encinal, Little Sycamore to the end of the good pavement, and back down. Lights are required. Sunset is at 6:04 pm. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel the official club ride. CVC RIDE PREVIEW November 1-November 6 Please remember when parking at The Landing for any weekend morning rides to park and congregate towards the far end of the lot away from the street and use the middle row. Do not park next to the homes. Give 'em a hand, or a wheel! Passing someone that is struggling? Ride alongside for a bit to keep them company. We've all been there, and it's always appreciated. -THIS SATURDAY- We have more guests coming! Team In Training is joining us, so let's make them feel welcome. I am so sorry for the last minute change of location. Apparently the World Series is interrupting our after ride festivities and there is no room for us in Newbury Park. Wed. Afternoon ride/happy social hour

Hi Riders, Well, I know I said the 4th Wed. of each month, but because we had so much fun last week, and ya never know what the future Wednesdays hold, AND because it is our last Wednesday of extra daylight, we are adding ONE ADDITIONAL RIDE followed by Happy Hour at Cronies in Newbury Park. THIS WEDNESDAY! Make it out this time while the weather is great!Gotta change up the routes while we can. You can ride without staying after AND you can meet us at Cronies IF you can't make the ride start. |We are a social bunch and would love to socialize and have fun! Ride time:3:45-about a 20 mile lap with about a 15+ avg. Cronies Time: 5:30-5:45 Ride will begin in the Cronies Cronies Sports Grill - Voted Best Sports Grill in Ventura County 1620 Newbury Road (right after In and Out Burger), right off the freeway Please let me know if you are coming so I can reserve the seating. The red paced Rock Store ride continues one last time this year on Tuesday October 28th at 5:30 pm PDT sharp. The ride leaves from the Landings parking lot.
