CVC Sunday Purple Ride -- Sunday Sept 18th - 9:00 AM Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Greetings, This week's Sunday Purple Ride takes us on the Malibou Lake Loop. It is 19.2 miles, with around 1200ft of climbing - all rollers or not much worse! Christine will handle the leading and we can designate a sweep on Sunday. Remember - you can loop the lake for an extra 5 miles of flat rolling! Afterward, join the other members at the Natural Cafe for lunch! Hey CVCrs Another beautiful (and cooler, I hope) ride weekend is upon us, and I for one will be taking full advantage of it! Below is a re-cap of the rides this weekend and next week. See the ride leaders individual posts for more information. Saturday: 8:30am Start at Citibank/Sprouts parking lot at Westlake Bl and Agoura Rd. - Purple: Lee is riding the Agoura Loop - Gold and Purple Plus: Joe and Beth will ride the Piuma short route - Orange: I am riding Piuma/Stunt route - Red: Jim is riding Piuma/Fernwood route Juan Batista Park will be a busy place on Saturday Morning! Sunday: 9:00am start at Citibank/Sprouts parking lot at Westlake Bl and Agoura Rd. - Purple: Brian is riding Hidden Valley out and back - Social: Adam is riding Malibou Lake route Next Week: - The Tuesday Evening Gold and Red rides - Sheri's Wednesday Afternoon Ride - The Thursday Evening Gold and Red rides - Jan's Thursday Picnic ride I will be kicking the Tuesday MTB ride back into gear in a few weeks. This seasons edition will be a social paced affair with more friendly, less technical routes than in the past. Look for announcements soon. CVC Saturday Purple Plus Ride -- Saturday Sept 10th - 8:30am Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Purple: Agoura Loop via T.O. Blvd. Purple Plus: Piuma Ok Troops! There's gonna be a new ride this Saturday and you're gonna like it! We have something for all Purples this weekend! Introducing a second edition of Purple Plus! Let's follow the Gold Ride to Piuma! We'll hang a right at the end of Las Virgenes and start up Mulholland17 miles with about 1500' climbingOption at mile 10 to get 7 extra miles, if you want Please see the map for the full Gold 27 miles with 2476' climbing Sounds like fun and it will help you get from the Purple to the Gold level. CVC Saturday Gold Ride, Piuma (Short Edition), 8:30am

*CVC Saturday Gold Ride, August 10, 8:30am Meeting at the Citibank Parking Lot, Westlake Village, (corner of Westlake Blvd & Agoura Rd) *Route: Piuma (Short Edition) 27 miles, with 2,200' climbing Hey Gold Riders, The weather is looking to cool down noticibly by Saturday. Lets take advantage of this and head out towards Piuma. This is the ride introduced six weeks ago. Really nice and well within Gold ride standards. I am recovering from hernia surgery and need to take it easy. Joe Hettinger has volunteered to lead the Gold Ride this Saturday and I will be helping Beth with a special short, flat, very easy ride. :-) Basic Route: Leave Citibank towards Agoura. Juan Bautista Park, Las Virgenes to Mulholland, Left on Mulholland to Cold Canyon, down Cold Canyon to Piuma, Las Virgenes again, Muholland, Cornell, Agoura Rd and back to the finish. The Gold Ride is an intermediate recreational ride, 30 to 40 miles in length with an average pace of 14 mph. It is not a "no drop" ride but as always let's try to stick together as much as possible. Remember to park in the area along Westlake Blvd (between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the Shops/Market. If we do not respect the requests of the lease tenants we could be asked to park elsewhere. CVC Sunday Social / Recovery Ride -- Sunday September 11th - 9:00am Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Come out and join us for a social paced recovery ride (14 Mph Average Speed/Pace). 25-30 miles max. and stay a while to socialize afterwards by having an after-ride beverage and snack. With Mulholland nicely paved from Las Virgenes to Westlake now, let's do our Malibou Lake route this weekend, either in the normal or reverse direction. The normal direction takes us down Agoura Rd. to a re-group at De Anza Park. South, down Las Virgenes to Mulholland. Lake Vista Dr. and around Malibou Lake, returning via Cornell. The reverse direction is to ride out to Mulholland Hwy via Cornell and do a loop around Malibou Lake. Then head East down Mulholland Hwy towards Las Virgenes where we will return via Agoura Road. Several optional return routes are available depending on what everyone feels like. After ride socializing - Natural Cafe' Restaurant - Patio and/or front grassy courtyard area. Hi All, Looks like another nice warm weekend but not as toasty as the past few days so, lets go climb Piuma and come back down Stunt. For a detailed map and route slip, got to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/207938 As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride announcements promptly at 8:30AM prior to splitting into our groups and departing. The Orange ride is an intermediate/advanced recreational ride 40 to 50 miles in length with an average pace of 15+mph. It is not a "no drop ride" but as always let's try to stick together and have a fun,safe ride. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Hi CVC Red Riders Congrats to all the CVC troops riding this Sunday's "Cycle Oregon" ride. I'm not announcing a "second Sat." Away Ride for the Red Ride as we rode the only Cool temp. route ( Cool Breeze & Last Monday's Carpenteria ride) twice within the last month. So rotating through our local Red Rides - how about this one? ........ CVC Red Ride Saturday, 9-10-11 8:30am Citibank Parking lot = NE corner Agoura Rd & Westlake Blvd. Westlake Village- Piuma Rd.- across Saddle Peak-down Fernwood-Up Old Topanga Canyon then Calabassas return to Westlake This ride affords us to the opportunity to climb Piuma & ride in the reverse direction of our usual Fernwood climb and then we'll return via' Old Topanga Canyon and Calabassas-Mureau Rd.-Agoura Rd.-Westlake 8:30am start: Westlake Village First re-group: Juan Bautista de Anza Park Second re-group: top of Piuma - ocean overlook FYI: Piuma is 2X Rock Store in distance & climbing feet - see if you can ride it in less than 30 min's Third re-group: top of Stunt Rd. - then proceed up Saddle Peak riding to the East, across Tuna Canyon down Fernwood Pacific- Fourth re-group: Fernwood Market at Fernwood/Topanga intersection Back up Old Topanga Canyon Rd. Thursday Bike Ride/Picnic - Hidden Valley loop

Should be *great* weather tomorrow evening (as in "hot"). C'mon out and join us! For those going to Oregon and tapering off riding, come and enjoy the picnic anyway! Thursday, September 8th, *5:30 p.m.* (Around-the-lakers can start at any time - picnic @ ~7:00) Westlake Village Start (directions below) *Route:* Hidden Valley - Triunfo to Westlake to Potrero, Lake Sherwood Drive, Potrero, Hidden Valley Road and same way back, and around Westlake lake on return…approximately 20 miles. For CVC'rs, longer ride is between a "gold" and "orange" level. No drops. I wait for the slowest rider. *RIDE START:* Triunfo Road just west of the Dam (tennis) Club and little yacht club building in Westlake Village. (From the 101 Fwy, take Lindero Cyn. south until it ends at Triunfo. Go right on Triunfo a couple hundred yards…where there's grass, sidewalk, the lake…and park along the curb.) *TIME:* Those wishing to get in ~20 miles, 5:30, ready to ride. Those just going around the lake can show up at any time. *PICNIC:* After riding - picnic starts around 7:00 p.m. (where the cars are parked). *WHAT TO BRING:* *HELMET AND BIKE!* For picnic, bring something to share (cheese, crackers, fruit, olives, pretzels, cookies, whatever…), a beverage (and something to drink it in if you don't want to drink out of the bottle), something to SIT on and a warm jacket. Citibank start location to Malibou Lake - Rock Store - Mulholland Hwy - Decker Canyon - around Westlake Lake. 25 + miles with 2,100' of climbing. Starting at 5:15pm Same route as the Tuesday Red Ride (without upper Encinal Canyon). Re-group at: Cornell / Mulholland and top of Rock Store. Here's the route using "Ride with GPS".
