CVC Saturday Purple Ride May 12th 8:30am Old Agoura Loop Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot in Westlake Village Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Route: Old Agoura Loop Hey, CVC Purple Riders! This week's Saturday Purple Ride takes us on the Old Agoura Loop. The PURPLE ride is 15.9 miles with only 957 ft. of climbing. We can extend this route to continue over Kanan and come down Westlake (which we often do), if you like. Remember - you can loop Westlake at the end for an extra 5 miles of flat rolling! Afterward, join the other members at the Natural Cafe for lunch! Here is the PURPLE ride: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/303609 Things you need for every ride: Helmet-MandatoryWater or Sports DrinkI.D.Cell phoneSpare tubeCO2 cartridge or hand pumpPatch kitRoute slip We will meet at Citibank (corner of Agoura Hills and Westlake), rolling out at 8:30 AM. To see Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Purple Ride, click here: http://www.cvcbike.org/?p=3127 The Purple ride is a beginner club ride with a 12-13 mph average pace but is open to all levels. No one gets dropped and no one is left behind. Please make sure to wear the appropriate riding attire. Please check your bike prior to Sunday and make any necessary repairs. Although the Purple ride is a "no drop" ride, for the enjoyment and safety of the participants, we will keep a 12-14 MPH average. If you feel you are not Purple ready, but want to work up to the Purple level, please contact the Ride Captain who will gladly give you some pointers and advise. We strongly recommend that you come out and meet the riders! The best stepping stone to grow into a Purple rider is to ride around Westlake! When you can sweep those 5 flat miles at a steady 12 to 14 mph pace, and still feel ready for more, then you will be able to handle many of the standard Purple routes. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. Above all, let's have Fun!! Beth McElhenny 818-207-3186

by Lee Cole 08 May '12

08 May '12

CVC Tuesday Evening Novice MTB ride Meeting this week at Wendy and Potrero and head toward Dos Vientos. Start time is 6:00pm Last weeks adventure up Los Robles my chain broke about 3/4 mile which then broke the dérailleur hanger leaving it on the ground. Some links and chain I had but a dérailleur hanger? I did not think of that. Joan took over the lead. Thanks Joan! This weeks ride starts at Wendy and Potrero and will go towards Dos Vientos and back. About 6.5 miles and 750' gain. You do not need a fully suspended mountain bike or any particular mountain biking skills. We will help you get going. Here is the RWGPS route for this evening. It would be best to view this in satellite view. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1157670 Any questions you have contact me by email or phone. See you there!
