Hey CVCrs Temps are a bit cooler but we still have nothing to complain about since we live in cycling nirvana. So....lets go ride! Below is a re-cap of the rides this weekend and next week. See the ride leaders individual posts on the mail list for more information. Saturday: 8:30am Start at Citibank/Sprouts parking lot at Westlake Bl and Agoura Rd. - Purple: Petting Zoo with Beth - Gold: Dos Vientos with Norm - Orange: Santa Rose Rd route with TBD - Red: RockStore/Latigo OB with Jim Sunday: 9:00am start at Citibank/Sprouts parking lot at Westlake Bl and Agoura Rd. - Purple: Malibou Lake with John - Social: Malibou Lake with Adam Next Week: - Tuesday Night 6PM MTB Ride: Backbone from Kanan to Encinal O/B - Sheri's Wednesday Afternoon Landing Ride Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. CVC Sunday Social / Recovery Ride -- Sunday October 30th - 9:00am

CVC Sunday Social / Recovery Ride -- Sunday October 30th - 9:00am Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Come out and join us for a social paced recovery ride (14 Mph Average Speed/Pace). 25-30 miles max. and stay a while to socialize afterwards by having an after-ride beverage and snack. With Mulholland nicely paved from Las Virgenes to Westlake now, let's do our Malibou Lake route this weekend, either in the normal or reverse direction. The normal direction takes us down Agoura Rd. to a re-group at De Anza Park. South, down Las Virgenes to Mulholland. Lake Vista Dr. and around Malibou Lake, returning via Cornell. The reverse direction is to ride out to Mulholland Hwy via Cornell and do a loop around Malibou Lake. Then head East down Mulholland Hwy towards Las Virgenes where we will return via Agoura Road. Several optional return routes are available depending on what everyone feels like. After ride socializing - Natural Cafe' Restaurant - Patio and/or front grassy courtyard area. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.* ** * *CVC Sunday Purple Ride -- Sunday October 30th - 9:00am* Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Route: Malibou Lake *Hi Purple Riders,* This week we will ride our Malibu Lake loop in the clockwise direction. Below is a link to the Ride With GPS website that will show you the route. Be sure to print out a route slip if you are unfamiliar with the area. The ride is 19.2 miles with 1215 ft. of climbing. CVC Saturday Purple Ride -- Saturday Oct 29th 8:30 AM Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Route: Petting Zoo Hi Purple Riders, This Saturday Beth McElhenny will lead the Purples on the "Petting Zoo" route. (Okay, I've never seen any animals at the end of that road so maybe it's time we re-name the route? LOL) As usual, there will be an extra loop around Westlake at the end for those who would like and extra 5 flat miles. Here is a link to the Ride With GPS website that will show you the route. Hi Everyone, This week Orange will ride the Santa Rosa Rd loop. I will not be riding so if someone would help keep an eye on the group, I would appreciate it. For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/290166 As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride announcements promptly at 8:30AM prior to splitting into our groups and departing. The Orange ride is an intermediate/advanced recreational ride 40 to 50 miles in length with an average pace of 15+mph. It is not a "no drop ride" but as always let's try to stick together and have a fun,safe ride. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. After the ride, please join us at one of the many refueling options available at the finish such as Natural Cafe, Sea Casa, East Coast Bagel, Sprouts Market, etc.. Please remember to park in the area along Westlake Bl.(between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the Shops/Market. Hi Red Riders I and a few others are going to be riding the Santa Barbara Century this coming SaturdayFor those of you staying local, may I suggest the following Red Ride: Saturday, October 22nd CVC Red Ride 8:30am Citibank/Sprouts Parking lot (NE Corner of Agoura/Hampshire Rd.s/Westlake Blvd.) CVC RED Ride: Ride over to and up Rock Store: Then from top of Rock Store, options are: 1) Up and down Latigo Canyon to PCH - back up Latigo Canyon - then back to Westlake Other options from the top of Rock Store are........ 2) Across Mulholland Hwy -descend Upper Encinal Canyon and down Lower Encinal Canyon to PCH 3) Across and down entire Mulholland Hwy to PCH to Leo Carrillo Campground Then from Leo Carrillo Campground.... Choose a return route back up and over to Westlake Village. After Monday's and Tuesdays frigid cold... (ok, kidding), Wednesday is supposed to warm up! Let's stretch those mid-week legs with an afternoon ride. Please email me with suggestions for a route and I will finalize the decision and announce it. Be mindful of traffic at this hour. CVC Tuesday Night Mountain Bike 6PM Cheseboro

Hey All, This week Cheeseboro is up in our rotation. We will meet in the lower Cheeseboro Canyon Parking Lot on Cheeseboro Rd N of Driver Ave (don't park in the upper lot since they lock the gate). Be ready for a 6:05PM start. Most of our rides are around 10 miles and last a bit under 2 hours. The Tuesday MTB night ride is a social paced, no drop ride so lets stay together and have a fun safe time. Be sure to have a light capable of lighting a dark trail and lasting at least 2.5 hours and bring a spare tube & pump at a minimum. After the ride we will hit Ladyface Brewery to aid in recovery. October Membership Tally

As of October 23, 2011, The Conejo Valley Cyclists have 455 current members which includes family members. This is an all time record for membership! Our club continues to grow and flourish with numerous new members joining each week. This is a testament to everyone in this club. 2011 has been a great year for CVC and I am looking forward to even greater club events to come. If you are lurking on our email list as a non member, joining is simple and the benefits outweigh the small tax deductible cost of membership (see benefits below). Membership fees go a long way in ensuring proper advocacy moves forward for all of our cycling related issues and safety. I hope that, after riding with us a few times, you would want to join us as a member. Additionally if your membership has expired this is a perfect time to renew. Membership dues are based on a 365 day year.
