Thursday bike ride/picnic - Hidden Valley

FUN RIDE LAST WEEK! AND PICNIC, TOO! We'll see what the weather brings tomorrow...rain or wet roads cancel. Thursday, April 26th, 5:30 p.m. (Around-the-lakers can start at any time - picnic @ ~7:00) Westlake Village Start (directions below) *Route:* Hidden Valley- Triunfo to Westlake, left to Potrero, right to Lake Sherwood Dr., left on Potrero to Hidden Valley Road, left to end and back, return same way and loop around lake for about 20 miles. Longer ride is between a "gold" and "orange" level. No drops. I wait for the slowest rider. *RIDE START:* Triunfo Road just west of the Dam (tennis) Club and little yacht club building in Westlake Village. (From the 101 Fwy, take Lindero Cyn. south until it ends at Triunfo. Go right on Triunfo a couple hundred yards…where there's grass, sidewalk, the lake…and park along the curb. Picnic is here after the ride.) *TIME:* Those wishing to get in ~20 miles, 5:30, ready to ride. Those just going around the lake can show up at any time. *PICNIC:* After riding - picnic starts around 7:00 p.m. (assuming people bring food and beverages, preferably to share). *WHAT TO BRING:* *HELMET AND BIKE!* For picnic, bring something to share (cheese, crackers, fruit, olives, pretzels, cookies, whatever…), a beverage (and something to drink it in if you don't want to drink out of the bottle), something to SIT on and a warm jacket. Also bring any friends, neighbors, relatives, S.O.'s and anyone else who might like to join us (preferably with bikes). Don't forget spare tubes, water bottles, etc. *ROUTES:* Longer ride: Routes will include Hidden Valley, Lake Malibou, North Ranch, and wherever. Around the lake: cruise around the lake in wide bike lanes…no left turns…~5 miles each loop…all flat, no discernible hills. *Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. CVC Tuesday Evening Novice to Intermediate MTB ride Meeting this week at Cheseboro Rd and Cheseboro Canyon Rd in Agoura Hills. Start time is 6:00pm Last weeks adventure in Wildwood was a lot of fun! This weeks ride is back at Cheseboro, 8 miles in length with an elevation gain of 600'. You do not need a fully suspended mountain bike or any particular mountain biking skills. Tuesday PM Novice and Advanced MTB Rides 4-24-12 at 6PM

Hey CVC Mountain Bikers This Tuesday both the Novice(with Lee) and Advanced(with Kent) Mountain Bike rides will ride Cheesebro Canyon. We will meet in the lower parking area and ride at 6PM. Don't park in the upper lot since sometimes the Rangers lock the gates. The parking lot is on Cheeseboro Rd about 1/2 mile North of Driver Ave in Agoura. Routes to be determined. Lee will send out a route itinerary for the Novice ride. Most of our rides are approximately 8-15 miles and last around 1.5-2 hours. The Tuesday evening Novice ride is a beginner/intermediate paced ride and the Advanced ride is an intermediate/advanced paced ride. Lets stay together within our groups, and have a fun safe time. At this point you probably wont need to use a light except in case we get caught out late. After the ride we can hit Ladyface Brewery for some well earned refreshments. See you out there. Hi Gold Riders, We will start this Tuesday evening gold ride to the Rock Store from Citibank location to Malibou Lake - Rock Store - Mulholland Hwy - Decker Canyon - around Westlake Lake. 25 + miles with 2,100' of climbing. Starting at 5:15pm Same route as the Tuesday Red Ride (without upper Encinal Canyon). Re-group at: Cornell / Mulholland and top of Rock Store. With the sun setting early lights make it much easier to see and be seen. Here's the route using "Ride with GPS". CVC Sunday Purple Ride -- Sunday, April 22, 2012 - 9:00am Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Come out and join us for the CVC Purple Ride a beginner recreational ride of 12-25 miles at a 12-13 mph pace. Stay a while to socialize afterwards by having an after-ride beverage and snack. This week we will do the Carlisle Out'n Back Ride with an option fro an points for if you do a extra Lake Lap! After ride socializing - Natural Cafe' Restaurant - Patio and/or front grassy courtyard area. Many options at this location for beverage and food establishments. Conejo Valley Cyclists Recap For The Week Starting 4-14-12 Hi CVC'rs, This Saturday is our *all level away ride in Ventura* as Jim mentioned in his post. See the ride leaders posts for route information and start locations. I have posted the Local Rides in the recap this week. some of the rides may not have a leader due to the away ride. This weekend will be a perfect time in the Ventura area so get out there if you can. Cruisin' is in 2 weeks and we would like to encourage those of you that are not working the event and/or riding the event to please come down and visit the Cruisin the Conejo Expo area. This year we have an all new Expo location and a large number of vendor and sponsor displays...Come out and be a part of the fun!!! Keep in mind that with the new Ride Team Format, you will still see the rides posted by the individual Captains, and lead by the Ride Captain *or* another Ride Team Leader. Everyone is invited and encouraged to take part in leading and assisting the rides, just contact the ride Captain and they will tell you all you need to know. * * Below is a re-cap of the rides this weekend and next week. Right on Triunfo Canyon Rd. Left on Westlake/Decker to Mulholland Hwy (1st re-group - top of Westlake Blvd/Mulholland) Across Mulholland Hwy to PCH descent ( 7.5 mi. mostly descending) ( 2nd re-group - Leo Carrillo campground entrance) PCH eastbound ( can cross under PCH by using walkway from Leo Carrillo parking lot) Back up Decker Canyon/Mulholland Hwy Descend Decker Canyon/Westlake Blvd. Around the lake - Triunfo/Lindero Canyon Blvd. West on Agoura Rd back to start You can decide at the Leo Carrillo re-group spot an alternative return route if you so desire. *CVC Saturday GOLD Level Ride -- Saturday Apr 21st 8:30 AM*** *Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) * **** *Route: Rock Store Direct w/ Upper Encinal Extension (w/ GOLD+ Hidden Valley Extension). 30.1 Miles; 2,712 Feet * For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/983989 <http://ridewithgps.com/routes/290166> As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-rideannouncements promptly at 8:30 am then splitting into our groups and departing. The *Gold Ride* is an Intermediate recreational ride, 30-40+ miles in length and averaging 14 mph. It is mandatory to have and wear a helmet. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition (check expiration on helmet inner tag). Please make sure your bike is in working condition as well. *This is a "drop **ride**" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). As always we will try to stick together and have a fun safe **ride**. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together.* *Things to have:*** Helmet !!!
