CVC Club Ride Recap for Week of 7-20-12 Hi CVC'rs, Here’s this upcoming week’s club ride recap summarizing the rides and identifying the club ride leaders. Please refer to the individual ride captain’s ride announcement emails for specific ride details. Note that each club colored ride has a “Ride Captain” with a team of “Ride Leaders” who will lead the specific announced rides as posted by the Ride Captains. Everyone is invited and encouraged to take part in leading and assisting the rides, just contact the ride Captain and they will tell you all you need to know. CVC Sunday Purple Ride 9:00around the lake to Foothill Dr then Conejo School Rd, to Hillcrest eventually meandering through the bike path Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village. Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) This Saturday, the Purple ridewill be riding around the lake to Foothill Dr then Conejo School Rd, to Hillcrest eventually meandering through the bike path Hi Purple Riders, This week we are riding around the lake to Foothill Dr then Conejo School Rd, to Hillcrest eventually meandering through to the bike path along Conejo Creek South Park and stopping for water and rest rooms, we will then return on Erbes. This ride will be making frequent regroups and is a no drop ride; however, please inform the ride leader if you are not planning on riding the entire route. Be sure to print out a route slip if you are unfamiliar with the area. The ride is 16.8 miles with 988 ft. of climbing. No one gets dropped and no one is left behind. Please make sure to wear the appropriate riding attire. Please check your bike prior to Saturday and make any necessary repairs. Although the Purple ride is a "no drop" ride, for the enjoyment and safety of the participants, we will try to keep a 12-14 MPH average. If you feel you are not Purple ready, but want to work up to the Purple level, please contact the Ride Captain who will gladly give you some pointers and advise. We strongly recommend that you come out and meet the riders! The best stepping stone to grow into a Purple rider is to ride around Westlake! When you can sweep those 5 flat miles at a steady 12 to 14 mph pace, and still feel ready for more, then you will be able to handle many of the standard Purple routes. CVC Sunday Social / Recovery Ride -- Sunday, July 22-- 9:00am Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Come out and join us for a social paced ride (14 Mph Avg. Speed). Approximately 30 miles and then stay a while to socialize afterwards by having an after-ride beverage and snack. Up in the rotation this week is the popular Northern and North Western Thousand Oaks / Lynn Ranch ride. For those that have not ridden this route before we climb North up Westlake to Arboles. A quick hop over to Pederson and around to Big Sky / Wildwood Park. We then cut through the residential area of Thousand Oaks to avoid Lynn Road where we end up in Lynn Ranch. A couple return options exist with a final cut through at what I call Pentagon Park back to Village Glen Plaza. See you there ! Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Greetings CVC Purple riders, friends and family!!! This Saturday July 21th Purple Ride takes us to Carlisle Canyon, out and back. It is only 13.3 miles but several extension options are available. You can add in some Hidden Valley scenery or add a lake loop a the end depending on what the group wants to do. CVC Saturday Orange Level Ride -- Saturday July 21th 8:30 AM Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Route: Westlake to PCH returning on Encinal. Weather forecast is for 82 Deg., at the start the temperature should be in the high 60 Deg. Hi Everyone, On Saturday July 21th. starting at 8:30 AM we are leaving to Santa Rosa Road through Potrero and returning through Read Bypass. The first re-group will be at Chanel Island University followed by a stop at McDonalds at Pleasant Valley and 101 FWY. Route: Potrero to Lewis in Camarillo, returning on Santa Rosa Road to Read Bypass. Reference detailed map and route slip below for details and if you are unfamiliar with the route, bring a route slip with you. Please use the restroom before departing. Thursday July 19th Ride: Hidden Valley - 5:30 p.m.

Come on out and join CVC this Thursday July 19th for a ride through Hidden Valley featuring an out-and-back warm up ramble on Carlisle Road. The Ride starts at 5:30 p.m. ROUTE: Triunfo to LT on Westlake Blvd. From Westlake Blvd., we will take a RT to head out-and-back on Carlisle Rd. Returning via Carlisle, we will take a LT on Westlake Blvd., followed by a LT on E. Potrero Rd. to continue with the standard Hidden Valley ride.DISTANCE: 20-25 milesPACE: This is an intermediate level ride that includes both Gold and Orange paces averaging 14+ / 15+ mph.NO DROPS: I wait for the slowest rider at strategic points along the route.DIRECTIONS TO RIDE START: Triunfo Canyon Rd. in Westlake Village, just west of the Dam (tennis) Club and little yacht club building. From the 101 Freeway, take Lindero Canyon south until it ends at Triunfo. Go right on Triunfo a couple hundred yards. You will see a grassy area where we PICNIC after the ride. Park along the curb.PICNIC: If a QUORUM is present, the Post-Ride Picnic will begin around 7:15 p.m. Please bring something to share: cheese crackers, fruit, olives, pretzels, cookies, whatever; a beverage and something to drink it out of if you don't want to drink it out of the bottle; something to sit on and a warm jacket. Bring your friends, neighbors, relatives, significant others, etc.BE PREPARED: A helmet is mandatory. Other things to bring include water or sports drink; I.D. Spare tube(s); CO2 cartridges or hand pump; patch kit; cell phone.SAFETY NOTE: Please do not call out "clear" at intersections. The intersection may not be clear for the rider(s) behind you. Tuesday Morning Ride 8:30

Come join us for our fun Tuesday Morning Ride! We will be leaving at 8:30 from Citibank, Sprouts lot! It will be nice and cool for us to tackle Rock Store! (and I personally have some tackling to do!) The Tuesday morning ride is a gold/orange level pace with average of about 15+ mph. Rides vary from 25-35 miles. Tuesday morning is not a "no drop ride" but as always let's try to stick together and have a fun,safe ride.
