Safety Message DOGS!
by Sheri L 23 Jul '25

23 Jul '25

Hello CVC members, This week’s safety message is about the risk to cyclists of unleashed dogs. While there is no fail-safe strategy for cyclists dealing with dogs, we hope that this article at least encourages you to come up with some type of rational response in advance of any encounters with stray dogs. Please click on the link below the picture to view the article. [image: Screenshot 2025-07-23 at 7.29.17 PM.png] https://www.roadbikerider.com/how-do-cyclists-deal-with-dogs/

Tuesday Ride 8:30-Starbucks
by Sheri L 21 Jul '25

21 Jul '25

Hi All, Tomorrow's ride will be leaving from Starbucks at 8:30. In a nutshell, we will be going up Westlake Blvd. to Kanan. From there, we will have a quick regroup, and then go down Kanan to Lindero where we will make a left. We will ride all the way to the end, go right down the hill, and then make a left and slowly enter the bike path through the park. We will regroup at the park restrooms. Please be mindful of walkers on the path at this time of day. From there we will go straight through, crossing Kanan, and rolling through the neighborhood back to Kanan, Right on Kanan, right on Fountainwood, quick left at first street, then left on Laro, cross Kanan again, around the high school, Agoura Rd. to Cornell, left, around Malibu Lake and loop back to return. We can discuss anything else at the start. See you tomorrow, -- Sheri

King Gilette Closure
by jerry blkdog.net 18 Jul '25

18 Jul '25

CVC riders, As some or you already know King Gilette is closed as of now. Recently an 8-year-old boy was killed, and 4 others were injured while attending a summer camp in in the Sana Monica Mountains Recreation Area King Gilette will remain closed until arborists can conduct extensive evaluations of tree health to prevent further branch failures. No date is given when King Gilette will reopen. Those of you who will be riding in and around King Gilette need to plan on alternate water and bathroom stops. There is water at the fire station to the right of the intersection of Cold Canyon and Piuma. There is water on Stunt about a quarter mile for the summit on the right-hand side going up. Water in front of the fire station on Fernwood just after turning from Topanga Canyon. Water used to available in front of the first house on Sadlepeak Rd just after the right hand turn from Tuna Canyon Rd, not sure if it is still there. Jerry Scott 805 404-8525 jerry(a)blkdog.net
