How about one of the young girls who received a bike from Conejo Valley Cyclists when she lost everything else? A bike was not first on her parents list of quick replacement items when they lost everything they owned in a fire. City of Thousand Oaks Active Transportation Plan - Public Input

Hi, The City is looking for public input on the Active Transportation Plan (ATP). the APT is the City's roadmap for prioritizing future bikelanes, bike paths, and sidewalks. PLEASE take a few minutes and provide input and please forward this email to others, especially if you are part of a cycling group and have access to their emails and/or post it on your social media page. *The City would like comments to be submitted by May 17. * This is the link for Public Input: https://www.toaksatp.org There is a short survey. There is also a map to add comments. The map is on the left. It didn't take me very long to figure out how to click and add my comments. There's a "how to" add comments on the left side that helps get you started. You can add as many comments as you want and when you are done, hit submit, and you will see all your comments. For example, I would like the City to complete the sidewalk on Agoura Road between Westlake Blvd and the City limit to the east. That will allow pedestrians to not walk/jog in the street, and cyclists riding east on Agoura Road can focus on cycling and not dodging pedestrians. I added this comment to the map. I'm sure you all have other sections where you would like to see a new bikelane/path and sidewalks. You can add this as one of your comments in addition to any other areas you would like to see improvements. The next Bicycle Advisory Team meeting is this Thursday, May 15th at 4:00 in the Park Room at the Civic Arts Plaza. *Anyone can attend the meeting* - please attend if you would like to learn more about the ATP AND provide input! Improve ride safety

New: Ride start procedure. More about this in the pre-ride announcements Saturday morning The risk management team is excited to move forward with our first initiative to improve safety within our group rides. Beginning on 5/17 at 8:30 all cyclists will meet at our regular spot for a brief club announcement. Then everyone will gather with the group they intend to ride at a designated area within the parking lot (see map above). Therefore, it's important that you review the routes prior to Saturday morning, have a group you intend to ride with, and ideally have the route on your bike computer or phone. You will receive instructions pertinent to your ride rather than listening to route details of all rides.

Dear CVC Members, It is time! We need everyone to get on the ball and register for our annual Picnic & Benefit ride. This is what CVC is all about. Promoting cycling to the youth. And OUR Picnic and benefit ride is where we get our charitable funding! Come be a part of this great event! Many of you have not seen this event in action, but it is filled with fun! We will have a silent auction, a food truck, a beer garden, and more, all for YOU! But time is of the essence and we need to start purchasing, so will need a full count. I want you to check out this picture. This is a lovely high school student. She lost everything. Her home, her school and her beloved bike along with all of her belongings. With prior funds, we were able to purchase a bike for her when her family could not. She cried with excitement. Literally tears running down her eyes. It was such a special moment. She asked, "Why would strangers help me out to get a bike?" Because we are a cycling community and a compassionate club. Funds for this were made through CVC member EVENTS. These young students have been completely qualified and vetted by the schools. Verification of losses and needs are there.
