Hi Fellow CVC Members and Guests, With the sun setting before 7:00 pm we are moving the start time to 5:00 pm for the remainder of the year. Front and rear lights are highly recommended! We will continue our Tuesday evening gold ride to the Rock Store from Citibank location to Malibou Lake - Rock Store - Mulholland Hwy - Decker Canyon - around Westlake Lake. 25 + miles with 2,100' of climbing. Starting at 5:00pm Same route as the Tuesday Red Ride (without upper Encinal Canyon). Re-group at: Cornell / Mulholland and top of Rock Store. With the sun setting early lights make it much easier to see and be seen. Here's the route using "Ride with GPS". Conejo Open Space Annual Trail Work Day

Hi CVC'rs On October 19th,the Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA), CORBA, and the Santa Monica Trails Council are having the Conejo Open Space Annual Trail Work Day. The trail work area will be on the Western Plataea, an area that many of you ride and hike. The Conejo Open Space is made up of in part, the area around Space Mountain(the Los Robles Trail that runs from Westlake to Sycamore Canyon), the aforementioned Western Plateau (west of Wildwood), and some other notable areas around the Conejo Valley. Hence, I want to get as many of us together from the CVC as we can to take part in this effort. I will also be putting this out to the Conejo Mountain Bike club which also has a great deal of trail users within the ranks. Please look into making time to go out and give a little back to the trails and organizations that give us so many riding and hiking opportunities!! Hi Fellow CVC members and guests, Our Sunday G.O. rides are typically 30 to 45 miles in length with an average speed of 14 to 16 MPH. As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride announcements promptly at 9:00 AM then splitting into our groups and departing. With the possibility of high winds this weekend let's stay closer to home. Sunday's ride is 37 miles and 2848 ft. The route is thru Oak Park via Palo Comado Cyn, Kanan to Erbes, Sunset, Olsen. We will announce regroup locations at the ride start. If you are available to lead please let me know. Thanks.* *Route: Malibu Lake, Conejo Valley Cyclist; 25.0 Miles; 1,954 Feet* *For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/289483 *The *Purple Ride* is an entry level ride no one is dropped; however, if you are not planning on completing the route please inform the ride leader. Average distance is less than 25 miles at a pace of less than 12 MPH. It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. Days are getting shorter...so: ROUTE: Out-and-Back through Hidden Valley START TIME: 5:15 p.m. DISTANCE: 20 miles PACE: This is an intermediate level ride that includes both Gold and Orange paces averaging 14+/15+ mph. NO DROPS:A no drop ride means that the leader will wait ahead at strategic points/turns along the route, or sweep behind the group as needed, so nobody gets left behind. Faster riders who are familiar with the course and who prefer to ride ahead are encouraged to do so; they need not wait at regroup points. DIRECTIONS TO RIDE START: Triunfo Canyon Rd. in Westlake Village, just west of the Dam (tennis) Club and little yacht club building. From the 101 Freeway, take Lindero Canyon south until it ends at Triunfo. Go right on Triunfo a couple hundred yards. You will see a grassy area. Park along the curb. Route: To PCH through Potrero Canyon, and returning on Mulholland Distance: 49.1 mi Elevation: + 3676 / - 3681 ft Regroups: Re-group Cal State University Channel Islands for restrooms and water Re-group Sycamore Cove for restrooms and water Important Notice: The water stop at the "stingers" on Decker has been shut off. Be sure to fill your bottles completely at the Sycamore Cove re-group.
