Along with the usual club business, we will have two speakers. .. Kathy Lowry, the Bicycle Coordinator for the city of Thousand Oaks will get us up to speed on what the city is working on…Open Streets on 10/31…Green Bike Lanes And… Ben Cox, Owner of NPBS As we did last time, we need everyone to bring a folding chair to the meeting. This should be a great presentation and I hope you can attend. Do not park next to the homes. ** This is considered a "no drop" ride. The ride leader will keep an eye on everyone. No one is left behind. All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). If you get to a regrouping spot and no one is there, consider yourself dropped. As always we will try to stick together & have a fun, safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together. If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader. It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. The fast paced Rock Store ride continues on Tuesday July 14th 5:30 pm PDT sharp. The ride leaves from the Landings parking lot. Mellow single/double pace line until Cornell. Last week we had one current pro and one retired pro join. They sure disappeared up Rock Store quickly. RWGPS route with Mulholland return ( without Upper E) 26 + miles with 1,900' of climbing. Leaving from the Landing, the Tuesday-Thursday ride is a 25 to 40 mile intermediate level ride (between gold and gold rush). There are very few cars out at this time and the weather is nice and cool. Come and join us. No rider gets left behind. Route to be determined Sheila Sherwyn Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. CVC RIDE PREVIEW July 11-July 16 -RIDES FOR THIS WEEK- It is the individual cyclist’s responsibility to know the route, either by printed out route slip, or downloaded to their GPS. Saturday: 9am at Leo Carrillo State Beach Coastal Coffee Away Ride: Red, Orange, Gold-Leaders: Jerry Scott, Jim Doane, Chris Armstrong, Cam Young Route link: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/5179515 <http://ridewithgps.com/routes/5179515> Ride stats: 69 miles, a Metric Century (plus a little more), 1100 feet elevation mostly on the coast highway rollers. This will be a combination ride and we will all start out together. As the ride progresses, the ride leaders will spread out along the route according to their prospective groups. Since this is a longer ride than usual, and new territory for some, we will do our best to insure all riders have a fun and safe ride and be in contact with one another. We will be seeing the coast, farm fields, suburbia, and marinas. There is a Wienerschnitzel that we can get water at about 21 miles (noted on route slip) and at Emma Wood on the turnaround before heading to The Sandbox Coffeehouse (noted on route slip). For those who choose not to do the entire route, there is a Starbucks at about mile 22 (noted on route slip) if you’d like to get coffee and snacks before turning around. For those wanting to do a full Century, check in with Jerry Scott at the ride start. For those wanting to stay local, cyclists will need to organize themselves. A suggestion is a route through Hidden Valley, over and around Dos Vientos. Sunday Cruiser Beach Ride 10:30

Just a reminder that we are meeting at the lot attached to the Santa Monica Pier on Sunday to ride south down the coast. This is an easy paced ride on the bike path, and is a social get together! Many are renting bikes at the pier, I think they are around $25-$30 for the day. Others are taking their hybrids, or mountain bikes. Take whatever you want, let's just enjoy the day. I highly suggest helmets and locks regardless! We will be riding at 10:30, so if you need to get a bike, please get there early enough. We will meet on or next to the bike path at 10:30.
