Hello Red Riders:Thank you Jonathan & Howard for leading the Red Ride last Sat. in my absence.Continuing on the theme of "mixing up" the Red Ride Sat. routes and offerring new climbs & ride directions,here is another interesting ride variation: Piuma-Saddle Peak-La Tuna Canyon-PCH-Las Flores-Piuma-Cold Canyon-Rock Store -Upper Encinal-WestlakeRide East on Agoura Rd. to JBDA Park ( 1st re-group spot)Las Virgenes -Mulholland-Piuma (2nd re-group spot at top of Piuma) Scheuren to Stunt Rd. overlook -continue up Saddle Peak- descend Tuna Canyon to PCHLas Flores climb to Rambla PacificaDescend Piuma to Cold Canyon Mulholland Hwy to Rock StoreUpper Encinal Canyon to LechusaReturn to Westlake Blvd. descent Approx. 69 miles & maybe 10,000' climbing ? ( RWGPS plots a little high in climbing feet) Thank you Richard F. for plotting out the "Ride with GPS" route http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1757054 As you can see, there are several "bail out" points should you not wish to ride the entire route.Discuss at tonight's Member's Meeting w/Richard should you have any questions. (see below for rules) He will be speaking on the below subjects: - Injury Prevention, Comfort, Efficiency, Power - The levels of importance with fit - Fitting the bike to the rider not the rider to the bike - Rider History and goals - Cleat Position (Half the fit) - Saddle height and fore aft positioning - Body Weight distribution and basic posture on the bike Rules for give away - Must be a current member as of 9/26/2012. - Must be in attendance at the meeting. - Please contact Henry Montalvo if you would like instructions on how to update your membership, or to check if you are a member.

CVC Tuesday PM MTB ride 6PM Los Robles East Trailhead

Hey CVC Mountain Bike Riders, This Tuesday the Intermediate/Advanced Mountain Bike ride is riding the Los Robles trail east, including the White Horse trail, to Triunfo Park and back. Meet at the end South end of Moorpark Rd. at 6:00 pm (same spot as Space Mountain). Most of our rides are approximately 8-15 miles and last around 1.5-2 hours. This is an intermediate/advanced paced ride and not a no-drop ride. but,lets stay together within our groups, and have a fun safe time. With the sun setting closer to 7pm, you need to have your lights. After the ride we can go for some food and refreshments. See you out there. Kent Koral (818) 802-0826

Tuesday Evening Beg/Int MTB ride, Lang Ranch/Cave, 6:00pm start

CVC Tuesday evening Beginner/Intermediate MTB ride. *This ride is a mix of fire roads and technical single track ridden at a slower pace than the advanced ride.* Meet at north end of Las Virgenes Rd. Start time is 6:00pm. Route to be determined. The goal is to ride from 1.5 - 2 hrs and travel about 8 - 12 miles. You don't have to have a mountain bike if you're new to the sport. A bike with wide tires and a little front suspension will do to get started. *Lights are now required. We recommend lights with at least 750 lumens. Two lights are ideal - one for your handlebar and one for your helmet. You're able to see surprisingly well with this set up. CVC encourages you to support our cycling community by shopping at local bike stores.* Afterwards we can go for some food and refreshments. CVC Sunday Purple Ride – Sunday 9:00 AM Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner),. Route: New route, Agoura through Old Agoura, up Kanan towards North Ranch Stopping at Oak Canyon Park for restrooms and water, up Kanan and through North Ranch to Westlake then over to Hillcrest to Old Conejo School and back to the start. Hi Everyone, On Sunday starting at 9:00 AM the Purple Ride is riding the North Ranch, Old Agoura Loop. Please refer to the detailed map. For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1737928 Re-grouping Locations: As frequent as needed to maintain rider contact. Agoura High School from Thousand Oaks Blvd. Oak Canyon Park for Restroom and Water. Hillcrest at Westlake . As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride announcements promptly at 9:00AM then splitting into our groups and departing. It is mandatory to have and ware a helmet Purple Rides are "no drop rides" let's try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. Things to have: Water to complete the ride or at least to reach the next water stop. Tools to perform minor repairs. Chain repair linkage. Inner-tube and inflated device. Cellular phone. Food to replenish energy. After the ride, please join us at one of the many refueling options available at the finish such as Natural Cafe, Sea Casa, East Coast Bagel, Sprouts Market, etc.. CVC Sunday Social Ride – Sunday 9:00 AM Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner), this is a longer social route with options to make it shorter. Route: Westlake to North Ranch Down Kanan to De Anza Park, up Mulholland around Lake Malibou qnd back to the start.This route is new to the rotation so have a route slip if you are unfamelier with these directions. Hi Everyone, On Sunday starting at 9:00 AM the Social Ride is riding to North Ranch down Kanan around Lake Malibou and back to the start. Please reference the route slip and map for details as this is new to the Social Ride. CVC Saturday Purple Ride 8:00 Wildwood Loop Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village. Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) This Saturday, the Purple ride will be doing the: Wildwood Loop Hi Purple Riders, NEW TIME!!! 8:00 AM START! Please arrive BEFORE 8:00 AM to beat the heat! This week we will ride our Wildwood Loop. Below is a link to the Ride With GPS website that will show you the route. Be sure to print out a route slip if you are unfamiliar with the area. The ride is 20.5 miles with 1413 ft. of climbing. Here is the link: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/303586 To see Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Purple Ride, click here: http://www.cvcbike.org/?p=3127 The Purple ride is a beginner club ride with a 12-13 mph average pace but is open to all levels. No one gets dropped and no one is left behind. Please make sure to wear the appropriate riding attire. Please check your bike prior to Saturday and make any necessary repairs. Although the Purple ride is a "no drop" ride, for the enjoyment and safety of the participants, we will keep a 12-14 MPH average. If you feel you are not Purple ready, but want to work up to the Purple level, please contact the Ride Captain who will gladly give you some pointers and advise. We strongly recommend that you come out and meet the riders! The best stepping stone to grow into a Purple rider is to ride around Westlake! When you can sweep those 5 flat miles at a steady 12 to 14 mph pace, and still feel ready for more, then you will be able to handle many of the standard Purple routes. Things you need for every ride: Helmet-Mandatory Water or Sports Drink I.D. Cell phone Spare tube CO2 cartridge or hand pump Patch kit Route slip Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride.
