The Tuesday evening 5:00 pm Rock Store ride continues on Tuesday November 1st at 5:00 pm PDT sharp. The ride leaves from the Landings parking lot. Sunset is 6:02 pm. With a 5:00 start we'll get to the Encinal Y about 5:50. Since I've done it, this is the first November edition of the Rock Store ride. This is the last one for 2016. Hey MTB'rs this week we are going to ride Las Virgenes Canyon up into Ahmanson ranch. We will meet at the north end of Las Virgenes Road at the cul-de-sac. Meet at 6 PM and ride at 6:10. This route is almost all fire road and has great views of the valley and all the fun that goes with a night ride. Don't forget to charge your lights and bring your helmet, water, and spares. Increment Weather Policy Reminder

Hey CVC, As all of you know, The club has an inclement weather policy. I have attached it below for your review. Tomorrow morning at 7 AM we will send out a "go/no go" email for Saturday's club rides. The forecast now shows a 10-20% chance of rain tomorrow and higher for Sunday. "Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride." As the policy states, riders are welcome to get together and ride out from the parking lot, but these are not considered official sanctioned CVC rides. If it is actively raining, or has been raining steadily for over an hour, we will most likely cancel the official rides. Be safe, have fun and I'm sure I'll see you this weekend. Finally. On Saturday, we have four rides going out. The Red Ride will be heading for Calabasas, then a loop up Mulholland, up Stunt and down Piuma. The Orange ride is heading up Mulholland then looping back down to Agoura, up over Kanan and Westlake, and a loop out around Lynn and Hidden Valley. The Gold ride is doing a loop around Agoura and Kanan, then a spin around Ventu Park and return via Green Meadow. The purple ride is going doing a lake lap before heading up Reyes Adobe and the bike trails toward Deerhill Park. On Sunday, we've got three rides going out. The Red Group will be going over Norweigen Grade to Moorpark and Grimes Canyon. The G.O. Ride will head for Simi Valley and do both Long Canyon and Lang Canyon on the North side of the Valley. The Social ride is doing a nice loop though Agoura up Valley Spring, Kanan and Grey Rock. Our Family Fun Halloween ride will do a couple Lake Laps and a spin around Westlake Village. We've also got midweek rides Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, including the Rock Store race ride Tuesday night, cruise rides Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and a Wednesday afternoon ride with Sherie. As always, keep an eye out for debris in the lanes and always warn riders behind you of everything in the bike lanes! You are their eyes when you are on the front. Our Purple and Newcomer courses are getting a fantastic response. Please help spread the word and bring friends! We now have regular purple rides every Saturday, and another Newcomer's class and ride coming up on November 5th. Come join us for the Monthly Newcomers Class, with lots of great info from bike checks, to riding strategies, to group dynamics. Let me know if I can help with anything bike or ride-related. No rider gets left behind. SAFETY REMINDERS If there is a marked bike lane, cyclists may ride shoulder to shoulder. Single file otherwise. There is no three or four abreast at any time while moving.If you are wearing a CVC kit, you represent the club, so please be sure to follow the rules of the road. When riding with CVC, you agree to: * Wear a helmet and ensure my bike is in good working order. * Ride to the right, pass on the left. * Ride in the bike lane (where available) and signal when moving into another lane. * Ride no more than two abreast in the bike lane, single file on narrow roads, and avoid "Swarming" (bunching up and multiplying the chance of accidents) * Call out and point if I see a traffic hazard * Respect ALL traffic laws and the rights of all autos, bicycles, and pedestrians* Ride predictably and remind other to be safe * Be a bicycling ambassador PARKING Please remember when parking at The Landing for any weekend morning rides to park and congregate towards the far end of the lot away from the street and use the middle row. Do not park next to the homes. ADDITIONAL NOTES The Purple ride is considered a no drop. Having said that, please note that if you are falling behind or slower than the average pace, you may be dropped. All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). If you get to a regrouping spot and no one is there, consider yourself dropped. As always, we will try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together. If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader. Hi CVCers! Just wanted to remind all members that our last members meeting of 2016 is Wednesday night at 7:00 PM at the Westlake Community Center. The Westlake Village Civic Center 31200 Oak Crest Dr. Westlake Village Come meet and learn from Win Allen, renowned cycling mechanic that has been a part of many world pro tour cycling teams. We are extremely lucky to have him as a local shop owner and are fortunate that he will come his expertise regarding bicycle upkeep. Among some of the topics covered will be a tire changing seminar, and how to conduct a pre-ride bike inspections. Tamari from Hyperthreads will be joining us to share some women's cycling fashion! Should be a good one, the designs are amazing! We will have some club discussion and a good time breaking into groups. Yummy snacks provided. See you all THIS Wednesday at 7:00.
