CVC Orange Ride -- Saturday, October 12, 2013 -- 8:30 AM Meet at Citibank parking lot in Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) at 8:30 AM for announcements, and then split into our groups to depart. Route: Simi Valley to Box Canyon, returning through Calabasas Regroups: Re-group at Carl's Junior (Los Angeles Avenue) for restrooms and water. Re-group at McDonald's in Agoura for restrooms and water. For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/825927 Distance: 47.4 mi Elevation: + 4530 / - 4533 ft Ride leader/s for this ride will be: Ken Reed, Cell Phone (805) 338-4859 The Orange is an Intermediate to advanced ride, 40+ miles in length. It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition. This is a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). As always we will try to stick together & have a fun safe ride. Frequent re-groups will allow everyone a chance to ride together. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel club rides. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions. However, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. CVC MTB rides for the week of 10-7-13

Hey CVC Mountainbikers, The rides for this week are as follows. Tuesday we're riding in Chesebro. Meet in the front parking lot at 6:00 pm Thursday we're riding in Dos Vientos. Meet at Wendy and Potrero at 6:00 pm It is starting to get dark midway through our rides, so at this point you need to have your light. Most of our rides are approximately 8-15 miles and last around 1.5-2 hours. Our rides are done jointly with the Conejo Mountain Bike club (CMB). It is an intermediate/advanced paced ride and not a no-drop ride. but,lets stay together within our groups, and have a fun safe time. CVC Tuesday Rockstore 5:15 PM ride moving to 5:00

Hi Fellow CVC Members and Guests, With the sun setting before 7:00 pm we are moving the start time to 5:00 pm for the remainder of the year. Front and rear lights are highly recommended! We will continue our Tuesday evening gold ride to the Rock Store from Citibank location to Malibou Lake - Rock Store - Mulholland Hwy - Decker Canyon - around Westlake Lake. 25 + miles with 2,100' of climbing. Starting at 5:00pm Same route as the Tuesday Red Ride (without upper Encinal Canyon). Re-group at: Cornell / Mulholland and top of Rock Store. With the sun setting early lights make it much easier to see and be seen. Here's the route using "Ride with GPS". Right now the forecast does not look good, but we need rain SO bad, I will take it! Let's plan on meeting if it is NOT raining (and it is dry) at 3:45 at the Landing (shopping Center at the end of Lindero) for our mid-week spin. This is a gold/orange ride... See you then. Sheri

Hi CVC'ers: As previously announced via' our master schedule of 2013 Away Rides Saturday, October 12th Away Ride is: Buellton-Los Alivos-Solvang-Buellton 9:00am start time in Buellton # 101 Frwy North: exit at Ave. of the Flags - Route # 246 shopping center parking lot on right Here is the GWGPS route : 68 miles 4,200' climbing http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1812199 Last year we had a good turnout of CVC club riders and were very fortunate to have excellent weather and a nice after-ride group lunch. Conejo Open Space Annual Trail Work Day

Hi CVC'rs On October 19th,the Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA), CORBA, and the Santa Monica Trails Council are having the Conejo Open Space Annual Trail Work Day. The trail work area will be on the Western Plataea, an area that many of you ride and hike. The Conejo Open Space is made up of in part, the area around Space Mountain(the Los Robles Trail that runs from Westlake to Sycamore Canyon), the aforementioned Western Plateau (west of Wildwood), and some other notable areas around the Conejo Valley. Hence, I want to get as many of us together from the CVC as we can to take part in this effort. I will also be putting this out to the Conejo Mountain Bike club which also has a great deal of trail users within the ranks. Please look into making time to go out and give a little back to the trails and organizations that give us so many riding and hiking opportunities!! Sunday Oct. 6 G.O. Ride

Hi Fellow CVC members and guests, Our Sunday G.O. rides are typically 30 to 45 miles in length with an average speed of 14 to 16 MPH. As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride announcements promptly at 9:00 AM then splitting into our groups and departing. With the possibility of high winds this weekend let's stay closer to home. Sunday's ride is 37 miles and 2848 ft. The route is thru Oak Park via Palo Comado Cyn, Kanan to Erbes, Sunset, Olsen. We will announce regroup locations at the ride start.
