Sunday July 28th G.O. Ride
by dpssmith＠aol.com 25 Jul '13

25 Jul '13

Hi Fellow CVC members and guests, Please come out and join us for our G.O.ride. (14 Mph Avg. Speed). Approximately 25-35 miles and then stay a while to socialize afterwards by having an after-ride beverage and snack. Here is the ride link created by Richard Fortune. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2929411 The plan for this Sunday is to head North on Reyes Adobe, cut through the school which puts us on Lindero Cyn., where we will find our way to the Multi Use Path that meanders through Oak Canyon Park. >From there we can take the not too traveled residential side streets to work our way South which puts us around Agoura High and heads to Chesborough and Agoura Road. Our planned route is out Cornell road with a Malibou Lake loop and back via Agoura road. Those riders that need to return earlier may decide to skip this part. Anyone needing a few more miles may want to add the Rockstore climb returning by way of Westlake Blvd. This route uses lightly traveled roads that avoid the traffic of the major streets. After ride socializing - Natural Cafe' Restaurant - Patio and/or front grassy courtyard area. Many options at this location for beverage and food establishments. Things to have: Helmet !!! - Water to complete the ride or at least to reach the next water stop - Tools to perform minor repairs -Chain repair linkage - Inner-tube and pump (or the like) - Cellular phone - Food to replenish energy. See you there!! Dale Note: Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. Please remember to park in the area along Westlake Blvd. (between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the shops or market. If we don't respect the requests of the lease tenants we could be asked to park elsewhere.

by Sherrie Felton 24 Jul '13

24 Jul '13

CVC Gold/Orange Riders: Let's ride the Rock Store route this week. I am including a link to the route that leader Dale takes on Tuesday as a reference, although our route will be slightly different. Please note: We will begin from our usual starting place on Triunfo Canyon Road. ROUTE: Rock Store Start Triunfo Canyon Rd RT Westlake Blvd RT Agoura Rd RT Cornell Rd X Mulholland Hwy (Stop Sign, Cornell becomes Lake Vista) Regroup Corner of Mulholland & Lake Vista Dr Continue Lake Vista Dr LT Mulholland Hwy X Kanan Road (CAUTION FAST TRAFFIC, HEED STOP SIGN) Regroup Mulholland at Encinal/Mulholland Split BR Continue on Mulholland Hwy RT Westlake Blvd/23/Decker Regroup Westlake Blvd after Potrero RT Agoura Rd RT Lindero Rd RT Triunfo Canyon Rd Finish Triunfo Canyon Rd RT = Right Turn, LT = Left Turn, X = Cross Road, BR = Bear Right DISTANCE: 20-25 miles. PACE: This is an intermediate level ride that includes both Gold and Orange paces averaging 14+/15+ mph. Please Note: The ride this week involves more ascending and descending than the other three rides we do on Thursdays. Be prepared. NO DROPS: I will wait ahead at strategic points/turns along the route, or sweep behind the group as needed, so nobody gets left behind. Faster riders who are familiar with the course and who prefer to ride ahead are encouraged to do so; they need not wait at regroup points. DIRECTIONS TO RIDE START: Triunfo Canyon Rd. in Westlake Village, just west of the Dam (tennis) Club and little yacht club building. From the 101 Freeway, take Lindero Canyon south until it ends at Triunfo. Go right on Triunfo a couple hundred yards. You will see a grassy area where we PICNIC after the ride. Park along the curb. PICNIC: If a QUORUM is present, the Post-Ride Picnic will begin immediately after we complete the ride. Please bring something to share: cheese crackers, fruit, olives, pretzels, cookies, whatever; a beverage and something to drink it out of if you don't want to drink it out of the bottle; something to sit on and a warm jacket. Bring your friends, neighbors, relatives, significant others, etc. QUESTIONS: Email Sherrie at hatoolah(a)msn.com or call 908-432-3480. SAFETY NOTES: A helmet is mandatory. I.D., water or sports drink, a snack, spare tube(s), CO2 cartridges or hand pump, patch kit, cell phone are recommended. Please do not call out "clear" at intersections. The intersection may not be clear for the rider(s) behind you. If you start with the group but decide to cut the ride short or take a different route, please let me know at a regroup stop or leave me a message (cell: 908-432-3480). CVC Inclement Weather Policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet road(s), it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. ADDENDUM: Round-the-lakers can start at any time and join us for the picnic (see note about picnic quorum, above). Regards, Sherrie

Hi Everyone, This weekend looks like another nice one and not too hot. so, how about a little Stunt Rd Climb. the route is around 40 miles. For those that want a bit more mileage, you can extend up 7 minute hill and return via Calabasas to Agoura Rd. We are badly in need of an Orange ride Captain. If we can't find one soon, we will need to suspend the Orange ride until we find one. Please contact me if you are interested or have questions. For this week, please keep an eye on each other and make sure you all know the route. For a detail look at the route, go to : <http://ridewithgps.com/routes/207956> *http://ridewithgps.com/routes/290200* As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot at 8:30 and have our pre-ride announcements prior to splitting into our groups and departing. The Orange ride is an intermediate/advanced recreational ride 40 to 50 miles in length with an average pace of 13-15 +mph. It is not a "no drop ride" but as always let's try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. And as always, helmets are mandatory and remember to have plenty of water and spares. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. After the ride, please join us at one of the many refueling options available at the finish such as Natural Cafe, Sea Casa, East Coast Bagel, Sprouts Market, etc.. Reminder-CVC Members Meeting/Pot Luck-This Wednesday Night
by Kent Koral 23 Jul '13

23 Jul '13

Hey CVC'rs, I want to make sure y'all make it out to the Members Meeting this Wednesday evening. In addition to our speakers, Jennifer Littles (With the Boy Scouts who run all of Cruisin's rest stops) and Brett Darrington (Speaking about sports nutrition), we will be discussing the open board positions that need to be filled. They are Ride Director, Secretary and Social Media/PR Director. Serving on the Conejo Valley Cyclists Board of Directors has been a personally rewarding endeavor for me and I know that there are many of you that would find a similar experience being involved in one of these roles. We will also discuss the clubs "Ride Committee", and the opportunities to serve the club by becoming a Ride Captain or Ride Leader (look for my announcement of a separate Ride Committee meeting). We will also discuss the future of Cruisin' and the opportunities for new charitable partners in addition to those we already have. And of course, Don't forget to bring a dish to share with your fellow club members at the meeting. We always recommend a dish that can feed 6-10 folks. Be sure to RSVP Henry and let him know what your bringing to share. I look forward to a full house Wednesday night! See you then, Kent Koral President Conejo Valley Cyclists
