Hi Everyone, Up in the rotation this week is the popular Northern and North Western Thousand Oaks / Lynn Ranch ride. For those that have not ridden this route before we climb North up Westlake to Arboles. A quick hop over to Pederson and around to Big Sky / Wildwood Park. We then cut through the residential area of Thousand Oaks to avoid Lynn Road where we end up in Lynn Ranch. A couple return options exist with a final cut through at what I call Pentagon Park back to Village Glen Plaza. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1835712 After ride socializing - Natural Cafe' Restaurant - Patio and/or front grassy courtyard area. Many options at this location for beverage and food establishments. Things to have: Helmet !!! - Water to complete the ride or at least to reach the next water stop - Tools to perform minor repairs -Chain repair linkage - Inner-tube and pump (or the like) - Cellular phone - Food to replenish energy. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel club rides. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. Please remember to park in the area along Westlake Blvd. (between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the Shops/Market. CVC Purple Level Ride -- Saturday, October 27th, 8:30 AM Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) for announcements; promptly at 8:30 AM, then split into our groups to depart Route: Agoura to Mulholland to Las Virgenes to TO Blvd. For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1837986 Regroups: Oak Canyon Community Park for water and restrooms As frequent as possible to maintain the group King Gillette Ranch for Restrooms and Water Morrison Park for Restrooms and Water on Forest Cove Lane. Ride Leader/s for this ride will be: Steve Vertrees and Michael Levy The Purple Ride is an entry level ride no one is dropped; however, if you are not planning on completing the route please inform the ride leader. Average distance is less than 25 miles at a pace of less than 12 MPH. It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition. This is a "no drop ride" however, please try to stay together. As always we will try to stick together & have a fun safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together. Route: Westlake to Moorpark down Balcom, up Grimes and Back. There are options to shorten the ride. Garmin Distance: 58 Miles Garmin Elevation 4136 feet Regroups: Rolling re-group at Westlake and Arboles. Re-group at Tierra Rejada Park after turning on Mountain Trails Re-Group at Grimes and Broadway before turning left. Re-Group at McDonald's on Spring at Los Angeles. It is a classic club climb that we all need to experience. Hi CVC Red Riders : The forecast as of now for Sat. is for a dry, warmer day. Since we've been having some damp, cool and/or chilly rides lately - lets try a warmer inland route for this Sat. ( Continuing on my Fall Season - longer-distance slightly less overall climbing intensity theme compared to our Summer rides ) CVC Red Ride: Saturday, 10-27th 8:30am (Westlake Citibank Parking lot - NE Corner Westlake Blvd. & Agoura/Hampshire Rd.'s) Westlake-Hidden Valley-Somis-Balcom-Grimes Canyon-Moorpark-Thousand Oaks-Westlake Here is my Garmin readout from a previous time we rode the longest version of this ride : http://connect.garmin.com/activity/177523326 67.76 total miles 4196 ' climbing Approx. 4 hrs. ride time Around WL Lake - out through Hidden Valley to the CSCI driveway for 1st re-group. Decide from there who wants to ride with whom for suggested ride route options: 1) Through the College streets to Lewis Rd. - Pleasant Valley Rd. - Santa Rosa Rd. Upland Rd. to the town of Somis - to LA Ave. - Bradley Rd. - Stockton - Balcom Canyon Rd. to town of Moorpark OR..... for a longer by a few miles and some additional climbing version...... 2) Ride over to up the southside and down Balcom Canyon - across Bardsdale - TO: UP Grimes Canyon then ride down the S side of Grimes Canyon Rd. back to Broadway/Walnut Canyon Rd. to town of Moorpark Either ride then- From Moorpark's High St. : R Spring St. (south) L on Tierra Rejada R on Moorpark Rd. L on Read Rd - through housing development to bypass R Olsen Rd. L on Sunset Hills to Erbes Rd. or... L on Pederson to Erbes Rd. Hey CVC Mountain Bike Riders, This Tuesday the Intermediate/Advanced Mountain Bike Ride will be at Space Mountain. Meet at trail-head on Moorpark rd at Green Meadow. Be ready to ride at 6pm. Routes to be determined. Most of our rides are approximately 8-15 miles and last around 1.5-2 hours. This is an intermediate/advanced paced ride and not a no-drop ride. but,lets stay together within our groups, and have a fun safe time. You will need a light and spares.
