CVC MTB rides week of 7-8-13

Hey CVC Mountain Bike Riders, Here are the Int/adv rides for this week. As I have explained before, The CVC rides MTB in tandem with the Conejo Mountain Bikers. I usually will ride one of the days (usually Tuesdays) But there is always a good turnout for both days. Tuesday we're riding the Los Robles trail east to Triunfo, via the Whitehorse trail. Meet at the end of Moorpark Rd. at 6:00 pm Thursday we're riding in Chesebro. Meet in the front parking lot at 6:00 pm Exact routes to be determined. Most of our rides are approximately 8-15 miles and last around 1.5-2 hours. This is an intermediate/advanced paced ride and not a no-drop ride. but,lets stay together within our groups, and have a fun safe time. See you soon. Kent Kent Koral (818) 802-0826

*CVC PURPLE RIDE -- Sunday, July 7th, 9:00 AM* Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) for announcements; promptly at 8:30 am, then split into our groups to depart. *Route:* *Carlisle Canyon (Out & Back)*; *13.3 Miles*;* 629 Feet* *For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/289395** **REGROUPS AS OFTEN AS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN GROUP* - Helmets must be worn - Obey all traffic laws - Where provided, ride in the bike lane - Ride to the right, Pass on the left - Point-out hazards & approaching situations to riders behind you - Ride 2 abreast only where it is safe to do so; Single file where it is not. - Never ride more than 2 abreast - Avoid passing other riders on down-hills. - Indicate your intentions verbally For safe cycling, CVC recommends the following: - Ear buds and headphones are not permitted - Ride predictably; Avoid rapid changes in movement - Be vigilant for doors opening on parked cars - Use a mirror ** The *Purple Ride* is an entry level ride no one is dropped; however, if you are not planning on completing the route please inform the ride leader. Average distance is less than 25 miles at a pace of less than 12 MPH. It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition. *This is a "no drop **ride**" however, please try to stay together. As always we will try to stick together & have a fun safe **ride**. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together.* *Things to have: *Helmet !!! - *Water to complete the ride or at least to reach the next water stop* - Tools to perform minor repairs - Chain repair linkage - Inner-tube and pump (or the like) - Cellular phone - Food to replenish energy*.* *Inclement weather policy*: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ridein these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. Please remember to park in the area along Westlake Blvd. (between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the Shops/Market. If we don't respect the requests of the lease tenants, we could be asked to park elsewhere.

It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition (check expiration on helmet inner tag) and that your bike is in working condition as well. *This is a "drop **ride**" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). As always we will try to stick together & have a fun safe **ride**. Hello Fellow CVC members and guests, Up in the rotation this week is the popular Northern and North Western Thousand Oaks / Lynn Ranch ride. For those that have not ridden this route before we climb North up Westlake to Arboles. A quick hop over to Pederson and around to Big Sky / Wildwood Park. We then cut through the residential area of Thousand Oaks to avoid Lynn Road where we end up in Lynn Ranch. A couple return options exist with a final cut through at what I call Pentagon Park back to Village Glen Plaza. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1835712 After ride socializing - Natural Cafe' Restaurant - Patio and/or front grassy courtyard area. Many options at this location for beverage and food establishments. Hi All: Since tomorrow's the July 4th Holiday and most of us have off work and will be attending family parties, I'm moving the 5:30pm Red Ride to 8:30am, 7-4-13. Sprouts/Citibank Parking lot Same route: around the lake, up Westlake Blvd. to Mulholland- West Little Sycamore to top of Yerba Buena & back around the lake to the start.
