*CVC PURPLE RIDE -- Sunday, August 4th, 9:00 AM* Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) for announcements; promptly at 8:30 am, then split into our groups to depart. *Route:* *Carlisle Canyon Out and Back; 13.3 Miles; 629 Feet* *For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/289395** **REGROUPS AS OFTEN AS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN GROUP* - Helmets must be worn - Obey all traffic laws - Where provided, ride in the bike lane - Ride to the right, Pass on the left - Point-out hazards & approaching situations to riders behind you - Ride 2 abreast only where it is safe to do so; Single file where it is not. - Never ride more than 2 abreast - Avoid passing other riders on down-hills. - Indicate your intentions verbally For safe cycling, CVC recommends the following: - Ear buds and headphones are not permitted - Ride predictably; Avoid rapid changes in movement - Be vigilant for doors opening on parked cars - Use a mirror ** The *Purple Ride* is an entry level ride no one is dropped; however, if you are not planning on completing the route please inform the ride leader. Average distance is less than 25 miles at a pace of less than 12 MPH. It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition. *This is a "no drop **ride**" however, please try to stay together. As always we will try to stick together & have a fun safe **ride**. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together.* *Things to have: *Helmet !!! - *Water to complete the ride or at least to reach the next water stop* - Tools to perform minor repairs - Chain repair linkage - Inner-tube and pump (or the like) - Cellular phone - Food to replenish energy*.* *Inclement weather policy*: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ridein these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. Please remember to park in the area along Westlake Blvd. (between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the Shops/Market. If we don't respect the requests of the lease tenants, we could be asked to park elsewhere.

It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition (check expiration on helmet inner tag) and that your bike is in working condition as well. *This is a "drop **ride**" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). As always we will try to stick together & have a fun safe **ride**. CVC Orange ride Saturday 8-3-13 8:30am Citibank

Hi Orange Riders, How about a run to the coast....and a nice jaunt back up Mulholland. Just a delicious little route,I tell you! (I know, frightening...me, not the route) We are still badly in need of an Orange ride Captain. If we can't find one soon, we will need to suspend the Orange ride. Please contact me if you are interested or have questions. For this week, please keep an eye on each other and make sure you all know the route. For a detail look at the route, go to : *http://ridewithgps.com/routes/303626* As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot at 8:30 and have our pre-ride announcements prior to splitting into our groups and departing. The Orange ride is an intermediate/advanced recreational ride 40 to 50 miles in length with an average pace of 13-15 +mph. It is not a "no drop ride" but as always let's try to stick together and have a fun,safe ride. And as always, helmets are mandatory and remember to have plenty of water and spares. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. After the ride, please join us at one of the many refueling options available at the finish such as Natural Cafe, Sea Casa, East Coast Bagel, Sprouts Market, etc.. Saturday, 8-3-13 CVC Red & Racer Ride

Hi All: I know some club members are riding the "Tour de Big Bear" on Saturday and the Race Team is riding the Brentwood Race on Sunday. For those of us Red Riders and/or Racers riding local and looking for an option for a slightly longer distance ride than our typical 50 miles and 5,000 climbing feet rewd ride, here is a route that I propose: Westlake-JBDA Park-Mulholland-Rock Store-Encinal Canyons-PCH-Yerba Buena-Westlake As per the RWGPS route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1054193 - It shows 55 miles and 7,000+ ft climbing Depending on our Sat.'s riders preference, we can leave off the Juan Bautista de Anza Park-Mulholland part and ride from Westlake directly to the Rock Store and continue riding the rest of the route from there. 8:30am Citibank/Sprouts Parking lot NE corner = Westlake Blvd. & Agoura/Hampshire Rds. Jim Doane - Red Ride Captain Inclement weather policy: should it be actively raining or threatening adverse weather conditions, the announced club ride will be officially cancelled for safety reasons. Should members decide to ride in these conditions, it will not be considered an official club ride.

Our Rock Store venture seemed to be a hit with everyone who rode last week. A vote to repeat was unanimous, so we will repeat that ride soon, at a slightly earlier (5:15 PM) start time. Hi CVC'ers: As you've heard me announce over the past week or so .... We are asking for your participation in improving and organizing our group club rides by your attendance and involvement at the following club meeting: *CVC Ride Committee Meeting: Wednesday, 8-14-13 7:00pm * * Westlake Community Room ( Westlake City Hall area- by Library) * * 31200 Oak Crest Dr., Westlake Village * * Snacks & refreshments will be served * The subjects of the meeting will be : 1) Establishing persons & defining roles for : Ride Captain: one person for each colored ride - who will then co-ordinate the : - Ride Leaders: members from each group that take turns creating & leading rides 2) Away Rides: Tweak current routes and create new routes and leaders for various colored rides 3) Explanation for the use of our current club database of established rides from the "Ride with GPS" computer database (RWGPS) 4) Safety Issues and community goodwill With your generous and enthusiastic support, we can keep club rides a valuable and important benefit of our club membership. Hey CVC Mountainbikers, The rides for this week are as follows. Tuesday we're riding in Sycamore Canyon. Meet at Wendy and Potrero at 6:00 pm Thursday we're riding in Malibu Creek. Meet at DeAnza park on Lost Hills Rd. at 6:00 pm Exact routes to be determined. Most of our rides are approximately 8-15 miles and last around 1.5-2 hours. This is an intermediate/advanced paced ride and not a no-drop ride. but,lets stay together within our groups, and have a fun safe time. Hi All, Another great weekend of riding is coming up and as usual, we have some great rides planned. *As a * * reminder: we made some changes to our Sunday Ride line-up. We added t he GO (Gold-Orange) Ride. This ride is aimed at the riders that use Sunday as their main weekend ride and want to go at a faster pace than the Social Ride moves at. Dale Smith will be the Captain of the new GO Ride, and **Henry Montalvo will Captain the Social Ride. * Here is this weekend's club ride recap. Please refer to the individual ride announcement email for more specific ride details. *Saturday-8:30 AM* Ride Start Location: Citibank/Sprouts parking lot at the corner of Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road.
