Sunday December 1st G.O. ride
by dpssmith＠aol.com 16 Jan '14

16 Jan '14

Hi CVC Members and Guests, Our revised G.O. Ride Social Ride is typically 35 to 45 miles long with 2,200 to 4,200 feet of climbing and an average speed of 13 to 15 mph. As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride announcements promptly at 9:00 AM then splitting into our groups and departing. This Sunday it's off to Tapo Canyon via Erbes, Royal and Siquoa. Returning Erringer, Madera and Erbes. 42.5 miles. 4250 feet. For a detailed route slip go to:http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2181943 At the ride start we will announce the regroup locations. Should you decide to deviate the ride course please notify the ride leader to prevent unnecessary or lengthily wait times at regrouping locations. This is a "drop ride" meaning that if you can't keep up with the group, and/or catch up within the re-group times - you are "on your own" to know the route from previous knowledge or by following the route slip. It is possible and/or probable that members can assist others with mechanical & other rider emergencies along the route however. Our re-group spots are meant to allow a short break & a chance for riders to catch up so that the group can ride together as much as is possible. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel the official club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. Please remember to park in the area along Westlake Bl.(between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the Shops/Market. If we don't respect the requests of the lease tenants, we could be asked to park elsewhere. Have fun and ride safe, Dale

The Ride of Silence in May has eclipsed our local club ride however as a larger testiment to those cyclists who have been killed or injured while riding their bikes. Re-Group spots: 1) Juan Bautista de Anza Park ( water, restrooms) 2) Calamigos Ranch: Rusty horse statues (water) 3) 2nd top of Latigo : before the final long descent 4) Latigo & PCH : turn-around - back up Latigo Canyon 5) 2nd peak of Latigo Canyon : before descent to Kanan-Calimigos Ranch 6) Calamigos Ranch : water stop ( if needed) Inclement weather policy : If it is actively raining or threatening rain and the roads are wet, the official announced club ride is cancelled. Those club members who ride in these conditons do so at their own disretion, however their ride is not to be considered as an official club ride. Jim Doane- CVC Red Ride Captain
