CVC WEEKLY RIDE PREVIEW and RACE TEAM NEWS March 1-6 Hi all! Like they say, “March comes in like a lion…”, so this weekend is likely to be rained out, although we may have better luck on Sunday. But, I’ll post the routes anyway so you have some good ‘stuck indoors’ reading. Coming next Saturday is our away ride. Starting in Ventura and doing the Lake Casitas/Carpenteria loop with leaders and routes for each level, it promises to be a beautiful ride, so we definitely have something to look forward to. Saturday: 8:30am at Sprout's parking lot Red-Gary Silver will lead the Crimson Crushers to the coast via Hidden Valley and up Yerba Buena. Check your emails for announcement early in the week. Wednesday: 3:45pm at The Landing parking lot Landing Ride-Sheri Leiken will lead the Mid-Week Wonders out Hidden Valley and back. Check your emails for any changes early in the week. Thursday: 5:30pm MTB Ride-Location and route TBA. Check your emails for announcement early in the week. SAFE CYCLING TIP OF THE WEEK: With wet roads it’s always best to deflate your tires 5-10 psi for better traction. Stay vigilant for debris that accumulates on sides of the road, and stay away from anything slippery; manhole covers, painted lanes, leaves. TEAM NEWS The team will be in Carson for the So. Cal. Crit Series on Sunday. After being stuck inside with this rain, the guys will be chomping at the bit to saddle up and put the hammer down on the competition. We “pity the fools” who want to go shoulder to shoulder. Let's wish them all luck! On Sunday, May 25, the team will be racing in town, so put the date in your calendar so that we can all be trackside to cheer them on. That’s all for now, folks. Have a great week! Here is the Orange ride announcement...... CVC ORANGE Riders: Note a few NEW things this week: (change can be good) 1) This is the 1st Sat. of the month and it's the "wear your club colors" Saturday 2) Jerry Scott & I are leading the Orange ride this week 2) Cam Young is planning on riding with us along with some of his Gold riders who are interested in trying out an Orange Ride ( AKA: a "bridge ride") 8:30am: Citibank/Sprouts Parking lot - Westlake Village ( NE Corner: Westlake Blvd. & Agoura/Hampshire Rd.s) RIDE ROUTE: Agoura Rd.-Malibou Lake-Mulholland Hwy-King Gillette Ranch Piuma-Stunt Rd.-Mulholland-Malibou Lake-Westlake Lake Loop back to start. 43.8 miles 5,715' climbing (as calculated by RWGPS which is always a little higher than actual) For a detailed map & route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/users/2519/routes Significant climbs on this route: Piuma = 2X the Rock Store Climb in distance & overall climbing feet Schueren to Stunt Mulholland Hwy from Las Virgenes to Malibou Lake Re-Group spots: 1) King Gillette Ranch ( water, restrooms) 2) Top of Piuma ( on North side with LA overview) 3) Top of Stunt Rd. It's 'Wear Your CVC Kit Day', so everyone fly the club colors! CVC PURPLE RIDE - Saturday March 1st, 8:30 a.m. Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) for announcements; promptly at 8:30 am, then split into our groups to depart. Ride leader for this ride will be: Bill Sietsema Route: Malibu Lake Loop; 20.4 miles; 1441 feet For a detailed map and route slip, go to: <http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2845778> http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2845778 The Purple Ride is an entry level ride - no one is dropped; however, if you are not planning on completing the route please inform the ride leader. Average distance is 20 to 25 miles at a pace of less than 12 MPH. It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition. This is a "no drop ride" however, please try to stay together. As always we will try to stick together & have a fun safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together. CVC GOLD RIDE -- Saturday, March 1, 8:30 AM Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) for announcements; promptly at 8:30 am, then split into our groups to depart. Route: Out and back to Newbury Park via Lynn and Green Meadow bypass. This is a good ride for any Purple folks who'd like to give Gold a try. Ride Specs: 33 Miles, 2700 feet--for extra credit: a lake loop Water & restrooms: On Green Meadow For a detailed map and route slip, go to: hhttp://ridewithgps.com/routes/4100331 Ride leader this week: Petros Vasiliou Safety Tip of the Week: Give your bike a good check up before you ride (or just after every ride). Better to find any problems in the garage than out on the road. Tires, rims, spokes, brake pads, cables, derailleur and chain. If you suspect anything is not right, and you don't work on your own bike, get it to your local shop. It's worth the few dollars charged for labor. Note: If you start with a group, the posted routes are to be followed. If you depart from the group ride or wish to deviate from the posted route for whatever reason, you must pass along the information to the ride leader so that there is no confusion for the other cyclists. The Gold Ride is an Intermediate recreational ride, 30+ miles in length and averaging 12-14 mph. It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. TIME CHANGE WED. AFTERNOON 3:45

Hi Riders! Starting THIS week, the time for the ride has changed to 3:45 every week until the end of June when we go on summer break. We will ride about 20 or so miles at a 15+ pace. If you haven't come out, come on and join us for your mid week exercise! Route given at start, usually Hidden Valley, Malibu Lake, or a North Ranch Loop. We meet at The Landing at the end of Lindero parking lot. We will leave at 3:45 Hope to see you there! CVC MTB for the week of 2-24-14

Hi CVCrs, Hi All, Some rain in the forecast, so, if we are lucky enough..... The ride schedule for this week is as follows: Tuesday we're riding in Dos Vientos. Meet at Wendy and Potrero at 6:00 pm Thursday we're riding in Malibu Creek. Meet at DeAnza park at 6:00 pm Most of our rides are approximately 8-15 miles and last around 1.5-2 hours. Our rides are done jointly with the Conejo Mountain Bike club (CMB). It is an intermediate paced ride and not a no-drop ride. but,lets stay together within our groups, and have a fun safe time.
