CVC RIDE PREVIEW July 26-July 31 -UPCOMING- Beach 'n Bikes Ride-CVC's away ride on Saturday, August 9. This year we start from Sycamore Cove with all levels included. Afterwards we can stick around for club supplied sodas and snacks on the beach. Bring your board shorts and frisbees, tell the family to meet up, and have some surfside fun! -THE RIDES- It is the cyclist's responsibility to know the route before the ride start and how to get back. Routes may vary from week to week so check your emails for announcement. MTB Ride-Location and route TBA. Check your emails for announcement early in the week. ** This is considered a "no drop" ride. The ride leader will keep an eye on everyone. No one is left behind. All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). If you get to a regrouping spot and no one is there, consider yourself dropped. As always we will try to stick together & have a fun safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together. If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader. It is mandatory to have & wear a helmet. Thursday 5:30 pm Red Ride

The Thursday evening red ride will continue on Thursday July 24th, 2014. The ride leaves from the Landing parking lot at 5:30 pm PDT sharp. The route this week will be Up and Over to PCH via Encinal and back. Riders may choose to hammer the climbs and we will re-group at the top. Going down Encinal to PCH is a great place to work on leg speed technique, which means maintaining a smooth high cadence for a long time. Maintain some power to the pedals but not much. You're not trying to go fast. See how quick you can spin smoothly without bobbing. The route will change week to week and includes: 1) Reverse Rock Store Loop 2) Up and over to PCH via Encinal and back. 3) Up and over to PCH via Encinal and Mulholland 4) Whatever else riders want to do. What: The Inaugural Thursday LAB Ride @ 5:30 p.m. After the Ride: Join your cycling friends for food and beer at LAB @ 7 p.m. We will meet at the parking lot beside the LAB Brewing Company, 30105 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills. Please RSVP if you will be joining us at LAB after the ride. I need a headcount for the reservation. We will be sitting on the patio facing Agoura Rd. where those who ride to the start can keep their bicycles in view. I will send out a full ride announcement/reminder early next week. What: CVC GO Thursday Ride @ 5:30 p.m. When: Thursday July 24, 2014 Route: Sunset Hills DISTANCE: 23.5 miles. PACE: This is an intermediate level ride. The group includes mixed paces averaging 13 - 15+ mph. NO DROPS: The leader will sweep behind the group or wait ahead at strategic points/turns along the route, as needed, so nobody gets left behind. Faster riders who are familiar with the course and who prefer to ride ahead are encouraged to do so; they need not wait at regroup points. DIRECTIONS TO RIDE START: Triunfo Canyon Rd. in Westlake Village, just west of the dam, Westlake Tennis Club and the Westlake Lake Management building. From the 101 Freeway, take Lindero Canyon south until it ends at Triunfo. Go right on Triunfo a couple hundred yards. You will see a grassy area. Park along the curb. *CVC Members Meeting & Pot Luck -- Wednesday, July 23rd, 7:00 PM* Meeting location: Westlake Village Library 31220 Oak Crest Dr. (Corner of Agoura Rd. & Oak Crest) Hey CVC'rs... It's time to meet for the 3rd Annual Members Pot Luck and Meeting. Bring tasty finger foods, chips and dips, and any other party specialties you can dig up. Please RSVP if you plan on bringing something, so we can make sure we have an even spread. Don't worry about drinks, plates, and the like, we have plenty of that stuff. *We have had some RSVP's and they sound delicious. Hope to see you there. * Along with the Pot Luck, we will have the below guest speakers among other items to be covered. *Bicycle & Bicycle Parts Donation* As part of our continuing outreach to charitable organizations, we are asking for donations for Bicycle Angels. All types of Bicycles (Road & Mountain, Kids, etc...) and bicycle parts are welcome. *Please bring with you to the meeting*. *We will have a trailer available.* Bicycle Angels is a non-profit charitable organization that provides loaner road bicycles for free to fundraising individuals who participate in a secular charity cycling event (like Cruisin' the Conejo). Bicycles are loaned to motivated and committed individuals who are not financially capable of owning a suitable bicycle, but are passionate to fundraise for a charity. *Guest Speakers:* *Dal**e Capewell* of CVC Racing and long time member, fresh off his successful RAAM achievement, will discuss his cross country adventure. Don't miss out on the details of his inspirational journey. *Jennifer Little* from Boy Scout troop 753 is coming to talk about the positive affect that Cruisin the Conejo has had on her troop and the young men that participate in the club's annual ride. This ride is officially back on. I will be there. I apologize for dithering; life gets complicated sometimes. WUnderground forecasts temperature in the 70's with 63% humidity and a wind speed of 12mph when we start. What: CVC GO Thursday Ride @ 5:30 p.m. When: Thursday July 17, 2014Route: North Ranch #3 * DISTANCE: 23 miles. PACE: This is an intermediate level ride. The group includes mixed paces averaging 13 - 15+ mph.NO DROPS: The leader will sweep behind the group or wait ahead at strategic points/turns along the route, as needed, so nobody gets left behind. Faster riders who are familiar with the course and who prefer to ride ahead are encouraged to do so; they need not wait at regroup points.DIRECTIONS TO RIDE START: Triunfo Canyon Rd. in Westlake Village, just west of the dam, Westlake Tennis Club and Westlake Lake Management building. From the 101 Freeway, take Lindero Canyon south until it ends at Triunfo. Go right on Triunfo a couple hundred yards. You will see a grassy area. Park along the curb. * This is a new route with several quiet residential detours off of Westlake Blvd and then Kanan. Although the leader has ridden it a couple times, she has not memorized all the turns yet so she is bringing a cue sheet.
