We've planned routes in case it doesn't rain and some longer ones for Sunday when it's expected to be nicer. If you do ride in the rain or wet conditions, watch your speed, especially on corners and descents. I will send an update email on Saturday morning around 6 AM. On Saturday, we have three rides hoping the storm moves out by then. The Red Ride is heading up over Westlake to the beach and back up Encinal Canyon, then down Rock Store. The Orange ride is doing a loop around Hidden Valley, back over Erbes and around Oak Park on Kanan. And the Gold ride is heading for Calabasas over Mureau and back over Mulholland and 7-Minute HIll. On Sunday, we've got three rides, and hopefully a beautiful day. The Red Ride is doing a crooked line over Mulholland including a bit of Piuma, Stunt and Old Topanga. The G.O. Ride is heading out HIdden Valley to Camarillo and back up Santa Rosa Valley. And the social ride is going to combine two of our local favorite rides with Malibu Lake and Carlisle Canyon. We've also got midweek rides Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, including a Tuesday night mountain bike ride, a Wednesday afternoon spin with Sheri and destination rides Tuesday and Thursday mornings. When riding with your groups, please be very verbal and watch for debris in the bike lanes. Always warn riders behind you of everything approaching! You are their eyes when you are on the front. Our Purple and Newcomer rides are getting a fantastic response. Please help spread the word and bring friends! Our next ride and class is scheduled for two weeks on the 4th of March. When riding with CVC, you agree to: * Wear a helmet and ensure my bike is in good working order. * Ride to the right, pass on the left. * Ride in the bike lane (where available) and signal when moving into another lane. * Ride no more than two abreast in the bike lane, single file on narrow roads, and avoid "Swarming" (bunching up and multiplying the chance of accidents) * Call out and point if I see a traffic hazard * Respect ALL traffic laws and the rights of all autos, bicycles, and pedestrians* Ride predictably and remind other to be safe * Be a bicycling ambassador PARKING Please remember when parking at The Landing for any weekend morning rides to park and congregate towards the far end of the lot away from the street and use the middle row. Having said that, please note that if you are falling behind or slower than the average pace, you may be dropped. All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). MTB Backbone/Etz Maloy tommorow.

Everyone, I'm going out with a few others to ride Backbone/Etz Maloy from the Encinal trailhead. If you want to join, let me know you're coming and I'll look for you. Around 20 miles/2700 feet of climbing. Should be perfect conditions for that area. Meet at the trailhead at 8:30 for an 840am roll out. Keep in mind, this is not a beginner/novice ride. Be aware of wet roads and watch your speed on descents and corners. We've got some fantastic routes in Ojai tomorrow and fun local rides on Sunday. On Saturday, we have three fun AWAY rides starting in Ojai, including Rose Valley, Pine Mountain and Lake Casitas. The Red Ride is heading right out of Ojai and up Rose Valley all the way to the newly-paved summit at Pine Mountain. The Orange ride is doing a loop around Ojai, then up Rose Valley to the first turn-around and back down before looping around Lake Casitas. The Gold ride is enjoying the Ojai bike path for a bit before heading up Rose Valley and ending with the smooth descent back to lunch. Beautiful area, epic routes, great lunch options. Join us. On Sunday, we've got three LOCAL rides. The Red Ride is doing a nice flat recovery ride to the top of Grimes and back. The G.O. Come on out and be a part of our Annual Spring Club Ride and Picnic Team Planning! We need ideas, we need some planning, some fun marketing, some charities to research, some regroup plans, and lunch plans. This is NOT a huge commitment, think of it as similar to planning a BIG PARTY. Lots of fun, and lots to be done and even more to enjoy. This will be YOUR RIDE and ultimately YOUR DAY, so come put the time in now to help spread the fun to everyone! Share your ideas, even if you think they are crazy! Crazy makes for fun! It will be up to you if you want to continue your involvement, but for now, help throw some out on the table, make some phone calls, and help to make this a really fun day for our entire club and their family! We are in good shape! I waited to announce until the weather stabilized, and we got it, a Wednesday afternoon clearing with highs in the mid 60's! What could be better, (don't answer). Come out, get outside while you can, and come and ride the 3:30 Wednesday afternoon ride! We will go out for about 18-20 miles of spin, fun and fresh air at 3:30 from the landing parking lot. Ready to go by 3:30.
