Weekend Ride Route Summary Saturday is Leo Carrillo Away Ride! We will meet at Leo Carrillo State Park on PCH and ride north, with route options for 44, 60 or 100 miles. Rollout will be 9:00am because of the remote start. Leo Carrillo is located at: 35000 West Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA 90265. See you there for a day of flat routes and beach breezes! It will get windy, but should compliment our out-n-back ride up the coast on Saturday. Keep hydrated and remember to eat something as you ride. On Saturday, we have three routes going up the coast from Leo Carrillo on PCH, as well as one local Orange ride. The Red Ride will be riding all the way to Carpinteria and back. The Orange will also head up the coast through Channel Island and grab lunch in the Ventura Harbor. The Gold ride will go north as well and head back from Channel Islands. And the local Orange ride is heading North through Newbury Park and Hidden Valley. On Sunday, we've got three rides. The G.O. Ride will roll up Westlake toward Simi and Wood Ranch before coming back for a run down Kanan. The Social ride is cruising up Old Conejo through Thousand Oaks to Wildwood Park on an out-n-back loop. And the new Mountain Bike/Gravel ride will start in Newbury Park at Satwiwa Park and ride the Vista Del Mar Trail. Please note the start location in Newbury Park for that ride. We've also got midweek rides Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, including the Rock Store race ride Tuesday night (now beginning at 5:00pm), Wednesday afternoons with Sheri, and destination rides Tuesday and Thursday mornings. This week has had high winds so keep an eye out for debris in the lanes (especially branches and tree limbs) and warn riders behind you of everything coming at them! That should give everyone time to return before sunset, especially if you take the Mulholland right turn at the Encinal "Y". Lights are recommended even if you plan on getting back in time. If you have a mechanical, you don't want to be stuck without a light after dark. When riding with CVC, you agree to: * Wear a helmet and ensure my bike is in good working order. * Ride to the right, pass on the left. * Ride in the bike lane (where available) and signal when moving into another lane. * Ride no more than two abreast in the bike lane, single file on narrow roads, and avoid "Swarming" (bunching up and multiplying the chance of accidents) * Call out and point if I see a traffic hazard * Respect ALL traffic laws and the rights of all autos, bicycles, and pedestrians * Ride predictably and remind other to be safe * Be a bicycling ambassador PARKING Please remember when parking at The Landing for any weekend morning rides to park and congregate towards the far end of the lot away from the street and use the middle row. Do not park next to the homes. ADDITIONAL NOTES The Purple ride is considered a no drop. Having said that, please note that if you are falling behind or slower than the average pace, you may be dropped. All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). If you get to a regrouping spot and no one is there, consider yourself dropped. As always, we will try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together. If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. The Red Ride will be heading out Hidden Valley, dropping to the beach down Potrero and returning back up Yerba Buena. The Orange ride is going south, through Lost Hills and Mulholland to climb Piuma and return down Stunt. The Gold ride is heading south as well, through Calabasas and back over Mulholland and 7-Minute Hill. Our purple ride is doing a nice loop up around Westlake, Kanan and Reyes Adobe. And we even have a mini-away ride doing Lake Casitas and Carpinteria from a Ventura Harbor start. On Sunday, we've got three rides. The G.O. Ride will roll through HIdden Valley, over Dos Vientos, and down Potrero to the beach, then south on PCH and back up Encinal. Wednesday Afternoon Ride is back with changes

Hey CVC'rs, Announcing the return of the Wednesday afternoon ride! The ride will vary to keep it interesting! Some of the rides will leave from the landing, some may leave from Satwiwa and be more mountain/gravel based, and some may leave from just a different location all together for a road ride. Please watch for weekly announcements telling where each week's ride will be starting from. *This first week will be a mountain/gravel ride on Oct. 4th. * We will be leaving from Satwiwa Culture center in Newbury Park *at 3:45*. We will go down Sycamore and up Ranch Center drive and return Wood Canyon and up Sycamore. 4121 Potrero Road, Newbury Park, CA 91320 (Turn left off of Lynn Rd. at the *National Park Entrance*. The Gold ride is doing our popular Newbury and TO loops around Dos Vientos and Wildwood parks. And the purple ride is doing a nice lake lap before heading south to Cornell and Malibu Lake. On Sunday, we've got four rides going out as well. The Red ride will be doing a nice 4-Lake tour at a recovery pace. G.O. Ride will roll through HIdden Valley, over Dos Vientos, fly down Borchard and continue around Wildwood, Pederson and return back over Westlake. The Social ride is cruising south to Cornell and will do the Malibu Lake loop with the Waring loop up Mulholland extension. And the new Mountain Bike/Gravel ride will start in Newbury Park and ride some moderate trails around Dos Vientos. Please note the start location in Newbury Park for that ride. WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENT Hey CVC, The weather should be perfect this weekend, with temps in the 70s and low 80s. On Saturday, we have four rides going out. The Red Ride will be heading out Hidden Valley, down to the coast via CSU, then up Deer Creek, down Yerba and back up over Mulholland. The Orange ride is heading south, up Cornell, over Muholland and up Stunt, then down Piuma and home direct from Cold Canyon and Muholland. The Gold ride is doing Moorpark and up Grimes Canyon before returning back over Read Road and Old Conejo. And the purple ride is doing a nice cruise out-n-back through Hidden Valley. On Sunday, we've got three rides going out. The G.O. Ride will roll through Moorpark, around the College and back through the West end of Simi Valley. The Social ride is doing a nice loop though Agoura up Reyes Adobe, Kanan and Fountainwood. And the new Mountain Bike/Gravel ride will start in Newbury Park and do some popular trails around Dos Vientos. We've also got midweek rides Tuesdays and Thursdays, including the Rock Store race ride Tuesday night, and destination rides Tuesday and Thursday mornings. As always, keep an eye out for debris in the lanes and warn riders behind you of everything in the bike lanes! You are their eyes when you are on the front - as well as in the pack. That should give everyone time to return before sunset, especially if you take the Mulholland right turn at the Encinal "Y". Thursday: Leaders Susan Ashby and David Stumpf Rollout promptly 8:30am at The Landing parking lot. 7-Minute Hill route (direct over Mulholland and return through Calabasas, with shortening options for King Gillette Ranch Out-n-Back). SAFETY REMINDERS If there is a marked bike lane, cyclists may ride shoulder to shoulder. Single file otherwise. There is no three or four abreast at any time while moving.If you are wearing a CVC kit, you represent the club, so please be sure to follow the rules of the road. When riding with CVC, you agree to: * Wear a helmet and ensure my bike is in good working order. * Ride to the right, pass on the left. * Ride in the bike lane (where available) and signal when moving into another lane. * Ride no more than two abreast in the bike lane, single file on narrow roads, and avoid "Swarming" (bunching up and multiplying the chance of accidents) * Call out and point if I see a traffic hazard * Respect ALL traffic laws and the rights of all autos, bicycles, and pedestrians* Ride predictably and remind other to be safe * Be a bicycling ambassador PARKING Please remember when parking at The Landing for any weekend morning rides to park and congregate towards the far end of the lot away from the street and use the middle row. Do not park next to the homes. ADDITIONAL NOTES The Purple ride is considered a no drop. Having said that, please note that if you are falling behind or slower than the average pace, you may be dropped. All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). If you get to a regrouping spot and no one is there, consider yourself dropped. As always, we will try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together. If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.

Hello Everyone! This is to remind you that this week marks the official end of summer, and with that, comes the end of the summer ride hours. Weekend Ride Times: Saturday: 8:30 Sunday: 9:00 This will remain in effect until Summer, 2019! Weekday mornings will remain at 8:30 am for now. Happy Fall Equinox! Hey CVC, Many options this week, so come out and enjoy! Saturday, September 16th Away Ride, Leo Carrillo to Ventura Join us for a ride through Malibu, Channel Islands and Ventura Harbor. There will be a few route options. We will start at the beach and enjoy some flat miles - for a change! *SATURDAY* *Away Ride: ALL Levels-meet at Leo Carillo Beach 8:30!* MEET at Leo Carillo Parking Lot (or in front of it) This is a 60 mile flat route. You can shorten it to be a 40 mile gold ride by turning back at the Starbucks regroup. (Gold Level see Sharon and Lisa for info on Starbucks.) Stretch it out for the longer version for 60 miles or beyond, maybe a full century which is what most do! Take route with you so you can make your own decisions on how long!
