Hello Riders, We’re excited to share an upcoming change to how we publish our weekly ride schedule! Starting Monday, April 27, we’ll be moving to a new, streamlined format. The weekly ride list will now go live every Monday evening via a single Google Doc link. *What this means for you:* - Once you have the link, you won’t need to search for the weekly email to find rides - You can save the link to your computer favorites or desktop for quick access - You can also create a shortcut on your phone for easy, on-the-go viewing - Rides for the entire week will be posted and live each Monday evening We will still send out a Monday email each week, but it will simply be a reminder—you can go directly to your saved link anytime to view the latest rides. Hi everyone, Just a quick reminder about our upcoming *Sunday mountain bike ride tomorrow starting at 9am* — and we’d love to see you there! Get ready for some fresh air, great trails, and even better company. Start at the Cheeseboro parking area and ride up Palo Comado Canyon fire road. At the top, loop around China Flat, then return to the parking area. If we're going faster than expected, we can continue on Albertson for a stretch above China Flats before heading back to parking. *Directions: *Take the 101 Freeway to the Chesebro exit in Agoura. Head north and make a right on Chesebro Road. Follow the narrow road one-mile and turn right at the park entrance. Continue up the paved road 1/4 mile to the top parking lot. Group Ride Safety: Communication & Emergency Response

To All: Once the scene is safe and injuries are being assessed, the next critical role is communication. This role is just as important as first aid. Assign a Communication Lead One or two people should take control of communications: • Call 911 and communicate with responders • Coordinate next steps (including contacting family if needed) • The ride leader should call (or assign someone to call) the CVC club president immediately for any accident that is serious. Multiple calls may be required to get a response. The person who calls 911 should step slightly away from the scene, away from distractions, take a breath, and focus. This person may need to leave the area to get a cell signal and/or identify the location of the accident. Calling 911: What Matters Most Be clear and specific. Dispatchers are not familiar with many cycling routes. Provide: • Exact location • Address if possible • Or nearest cross street • Or mile markers or landmarks if cross streets are not relevant • If you have cell service open google maps or apple maps app. Tap your location to obtain a pin which will reveal either an address or latitude and longitude coordinates and read those numbers to the dispatcher. • What happened • Cyclist crash, vehicle involvement, etc. • How many people are injured • Condition of the rider(s) Avoid vague descriptions like: “Halfway up Mulholland climb”. While Waiting for Help • Keep the rider still and comfortable • Continue to monitor their condition and talk to them • Avoid unnecessary movement or crowding • Maintain traffic control • Look for Road ID or access their “In Case Of Emergency” contact info on their phone. When Emergency Services Arrive Have one spokesperson, most likely the person providing aid: • Provide: • Name and age (if known) • What happened • Main injuries • Whether they lost consciousness • Keep it brief and clear • Then step back and give them space to work If Law Enforcement Is Involved • One person should provide a clear, factual account of what happened • This can be important for: • Insurance • Protecting the injured rider • Establishing fault if a vehicle was involved If no one speaks up, key details may be lost. Mt. Wilson away ride April 25

Hello All The away ride to Mt. Wilson on April 25 is a joint ride with the Pasadena Cycling Club. This is for the most hearty mountain climbers! It is 53 miles with 6500+' of elevation gain. Almost all the climbing is in the first 26 miles. It is an out and back course so you can turn around whenever you want. I recommend it for Red, Orange and the most aggressive Orange Light riders. It would be much appreciated if everyone wore their CVC kits! The home ride from the Landing will probably be a combined Red, Orange and Orange Light ride at an Orange Light pace. Here is the ride announcement: The route will take us out and back from Sunland, following Big T, Angeles Forest Highway, and Angeles Crest Highway to the base of the Mt Wilson road. Since it’s an out-and-back route, riders can climb as far as their legs will take them, then enjoy the thrilling descent on a wide highway with new pavement and moderate traffic on the way back. Riders who complete the climb to Mt Wilson can snack at the Cosmic Cafe (we checked it is open on weekends in April), whose offerings now come from Little Flower Bakery & Cafe in Pasadena. At the end of our ride, the excellent coffee, pastries and lunch dishes of the Back Door Cafe <https://share.google/gdJ2ckSCz8RP3PdpC> in Sunland await those looking for refreshments.
