The Tuesday evening 5:30 pm Rock Store ride continues on Tuesday September 6th at 5:30 pm PDT sharp. The ride leaves from the Landings parking lot. Agoura between Kanan and Cornell is open to thru traffic so we will not need to turn right on Kanan. Sunset is 7:14 pm tonight. Still time to do the full route with Upper Encinal in the day light. Hi CVC Members, The clothing orders should be in this week. I will get in touch with you to get you your clothing. The club has purchased a few extra assorted extra jerseys, arm warmers, bibs, and shorts. If you are interested, please let me know as sizes are extremely limited. Next, there are a couple of members who need to sell their Amtrak registration. If you are interested in that, also let me know and I can put you in touch. Last, we are looking very hard for a purple ride leader for Saturdays. Even if you could commit to one Saturday a month, that would be so appreciated. This would be a step past the Newcomer ride which was so well received. This would be taking riders out on a shorter ride, 20-25 miles at a pretty easy pace. ONE Saturday a month would be great. If you could do more even better, and maybe it is only for a month that you could help out, that would be awesome as well. Thanks so much, Sheri Leiken CVC President

We only have one more evening ride after this, so if you haven’t been, now is the time to come out and enjoy! This is about a 19 mile loop at a Gold/Orange pace. If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader. See you at 5:30! Sheri Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. On Saturday, the Red ride will head for 7-minute Hill, Old Topanga and Fernwood with a return down Stunt. The Orange ride is doing a Simi Loop starting out toward Calabasas, through the Valley, over Santa Susanna and back over Erbes. The Gold ride is heading for 7-minute up over Mulholland from Cornell. We will also have our first Newcomers' Ride on Saturday headed for a loop around Agoura Hills. Sunday the Red group is doing Rock Store and Gillett Ranch. The GO ride is doing Chesboro and Kanan up to Westlake and a Dos Vientos loop through Hidden Valley. The Social ride is headed up Reyes Adobe on a Kanan and Fountainwood cruise. On Monday Labor Day, we will have a social ride at 10am. Depending on turn-out we may add another ride. Drop me an email if you would like to lead one. We are having a little potluck and pool party afterward, as well. See the info above. We've also got midweek rides Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, including the Rock Store race ride Tuesday night, cruise rides Tuesday and Thursday mornings, the Wednesday Pub Ride, and mountain biking on Thursday afternoons. We are doing our first Newcomers' Ride this Saturday and will host them on the first Saturday of every month. Please join us this week to help develop the curriculum! All the local construction seems to be complete but keep an eye out for uneven surfaces (esp at crosswalks) and warn riders behind you of anything in the bike lanes! SAFETY REMINDERS If there is a marked bike lane, cyclists may ride shoulder to shoulder. Single file otherwise. There is no three or four abreast at any time while moving.If you are wearing a CVC kit, you represent the club, so please be sure to follow the rules of the road.When riding with CVC, you agree to:* Wear a helmet and ensure my bike is in good working order.* Ride to the right, pass on the left.* Ride in the bike lane (where available) and signal when moving into another lane.* Ride no more than two abreast in the bike lane, single file on narrow roads, and avoid "Swarming" (bunching up and multiplying the chance of accidents)* Call out and point if I see a traffic hazard* Respect ALL traffic laws and the rights of all autos, bicycles, and pedestrians* Ride predictably and remind other to be safe* Be a bicycling ambassador PARKING Please remember when parking at The Landing for any weekend morning rides to park and congregate towards the far end of the lot away from the street and use the middle row. Do not park next to the homes. ADDITIONAL NOTES The Purple ride is considered a no drop. Having said that, please note that if you are falling behind or slower than the average pace, you may be dropped. All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). If you get to a regrouping spot and no one is there, consider yourself dropped. As always, we will try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together. If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader.
