Hi CVC Red and Orange Riders : Here is my proposed Red & Orange Ride for this Saturday, 7-20-13 It's going to be HOT again - but since we've ridden Coast routes for the past few weeks, let's ride in the Calabassas direction this time. CVC Red & Orange Ride Saturday, 7-20-13 8:30am Citibank Parking lot = NE corner Agoura Rd & Westlake Blvd. Westlake Village- Lake Malibou- King Gillette Ranch- up Piuma Rd.- across Saddle Peak -down Fernwood-Up Old Topanga Canyon then Calabassas return to Westlake This ride affords us to the opportunity to climb Piuma & ride in the reverse direction of our usual Fernwood climb and then we'll return via' Old Topanga Canyon and Calabassas-Mureau Rd.-Agoura-Westlake Here are my Garmin stats. from a previous time we rode this ride: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/138097301 ( King Gillette instead of JBDA Park however) 49. miles, 4,500+ ft. climbing 3:30 approx. riding time 8:30am start: Westlake Village First re-group: King Gillette Ranch Second re-group: top of Piuma - ocean overlook FYI: Piuma is 2X Rock Store in distance & climbing feet Third re-group: top of Stunt Rd. - then proceed up Saddle Peak riding to the East, across Tuna Canyon down Fernwood Pacific- Fourth re-group: Fernwood Market at Fernwood/Topanga Canyon Back up Old Topanga Canyon - through Calabassas to Westlake See you at 8:30am Jim Doane- CVC Red Ride Captain _______________________________________________

CVC North Ranch Ride, Thursday July 18 @ 5:30 PM

Come on out and join CVC this Thursday July 18th for the North Ranch Ride. Please see the route slip for details. The Ride starts at 5:30 p.m.ROUTE: North RanchDISTANCE: 20-25 miles. PACE: This is an intermediate level ride that includes both Gold and Orange paces averaging 14+/15+ mph.NO DROPS: I will wait ahead at strategic points/turns along the route, or sweep behind the group or as needed, so nobody gets left behind. Faster riders who are familiar with the course and who prefer to ride ahead are encouraged to do so; they need not wait at regroup points.DIRECTIONS TO RIDE START: Triunfo Canyon Rd. in Westlake Village, just west of the Dam (tennis) Club and little yacht club building. From the 101 Freeway, take Lindero Canyon south until it ends at Triunfo. Go right on Triunfo a couple hundred yards. You will see a grassy area where we PICNIC after the ride. Park along the curb.PICNIC: If a QUORUM is present, the Post-Ride Picnic will begin around 7:00 p.m. Please bring something to share: cheese crackers, fruit, olives, pretzels, cookies, whatever; a beverage and something to drink it out of if you don't want to drink it out of the bottle; something to sit on and a warm jacket. *Its CVC BBQ Time* Hi CVC'rs, Its time again to all get together for some major chow and grog We have been riding hard all summer long, and now its time plow into some well earned BBQ. So, mark that calender. The date is Sunday, September 15th from 1-5pm. We are moving to the Conejo Creek Park this year and will take over the Creekside picnic pavilion. As usual, the club will supply meats and drinks, and members will bring a side dish to share. I will send out more information in the next few weeks. Looking forward to seeing all of you! Kent.

CVC MTB Rides for week of 7-15

Hey CVC Mountainbikers, The rides for the week of 7-15 are as follows. Tuesday we're riding in Lang Ranch. Meet at the end of Lang Ranch Pkwy at 6:00 pm. Always options for short or longer rides. Thursday we're riding in Dos Vientos. Meet at Wendy and Potrero at 6:00 pm Exact routes to be determined. Most of our rides are approximately 8-15 miles and last around 1.5-2 hours. This is an intermediate/advanced paced ride and not a no-drop ride. but,lets stay together within our groups, and have a fun safe time. See you soon. Kent

It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is in good condition. *This is a "no drop **ride**" however, please try to stay together. As always we will try to stick together & have a fun safe **ride**. Hi AllConsidering everyone's Away Ride ideas & suggestions, I've revised this Sat.'s Away Ride .........9:00am Leo Carrillo State Beach ( PCH & Mulholland Hwy) Campground entrance by Ranger's booth Parking lot costs $ 10.00 for day ... or... Park on ocean side of PCH and go under PCH tunnel to access campground start location Here is a 65 mile almost flat route: 1428' climbing ( RWGPS is usually a 20-30% overestimated climbing )Leo Carrillo to Seaside Park in Ventura and back http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2850013Rest Stops: food, drinks & rest rooms: many options along the way at our choosing This should get you back at Leo Carrillo in the early PM Optional: 15-18 mile additional loop after Seaside Park for those so inclined. Hi Everybody, This Sunday's Social Ride is thru Moorpark. The ride a little longer than most at 41 miles and will finish around 12:45. Those of us that need an earlier return may want to head back to the Read Road bypass at Tierra Rejada to keep the ride around 30 plus miles. Moorpark loop. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1987850 As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride announcements promptly at 9:00 AM then splitting into our groups and departing. It is mandatory to have and ware a helmet and it is the rider's responsibility to ensure that the helmet is valid (check expiration on helmet inner tag, usually good for five years) and in good working condition. It is not a "no drop ride" but as always let's try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. Things to have: Water to complete the ride or at least to reach the next water stop. Tools to perform minor repairs. Chain repair linkage. Inner-tube and inflated device. Cellular phone. Food to replenish energy. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. After the ride, please join us at one of the many refueling options available at the finish such as Natural Cafe, Sea Casa, East Coast Bagel, Sprouts Market, etc.. Please remember to park in the area along Westlake Bl.(between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the Shops/Market. If we don't respect the requests of the lease tenants, we could be asked to park elsewhere.
