New time!!!! 3:30! The afternoon landing ride has moved up 15 minutes. We may not get as many miles in, but we will speed through it. This is a fun way to spin legs during the mid week if you need to get outside. We will do more than a spin class, so come on out and get outside. Wednesday promises to bring spring like temperatures with fall like times. We will get about 20 miles in through Hidden Valley. It is a gold/orange level ride with about a 15+ avg. CVC MTB rides week of 11-4-13

Hey CVC Mountainbikers, The rides for this week are as follows. Tuesday we're riding Switchbacks/Space Mtn. Meet at the end of Moorpark Rd. at 6:00 pm Thursday we're riding in Chesebro. Meet in the front parking lot at 6:00 pm With the time change, lights will be needed for the whole ride. Most of our rides are approximately 8-15 miles and last around 1.5-2 hours. Our rides are done jointly with the Conejo Mountain Bike club (CMB). It is an intermediate/advanced paced ride and not a no-drop ride. but,lets stay together within our groups, and have a fun safe time. Due to scheduling conflicts, I will not be making the rides for the next few weeks. Always make sure you have your Helmet (mandatory),Water, spares, and a light. See you soon. *CVC SOCIAL RIDE -- Sunday, November 3rd, 9:00 a.m.* Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) for announcements; promptly at 8:30 am, then split into our groups to depart. I guess we were suppose to do this ride last week... *Route: **Oakpark Counter Clockwise; 19.4 Miles; 1,670 Feet* *For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3343987 <http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3343987> *The *Social Ride* is an ALL level of ride; 20+ Miles; 13+ mph; Moderate to average hill climbing; Regular regroups or stops. *This is a "no drop **ride**". Please note that the pace is faster than the Purple Ride and slower riders may be inadvertently dropped. * Please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). *Inclement weather policy*: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ridein these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.

Hi CVC'ers: At the beginning of 2013, I announced a year's worth of Club Away Rides As a reminder of the November Away ride for NEXT Sat. (the 9th) CVC Red/Orange Away Ride -- Saturday, November 9th, 9:00 AM Start Gold Ride- Could be available if someone would volunteer to lead ( see below) 9:00am Nordoff High School Parking Lot on Hwy #33 just west of the # 33 - # 150 Hwy Split in Ojai - see Thomas Bros. Ventura Co. map page # 441 grid # F-7 Park on the North side of parking lot - paralleling Hwy # 33 RIDE DESCRIPTION: Up the # 33 from Ojai through Meiners Oaks, Matilija Hot Springs, Wheeler Gorge, Rose Valley to the top of Pine Mt. and back Orange/Red : "Ride with GPS" route slip: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3616462 63.6 total miles for the complete ride to the top of Pine Mt. and back 6,154 total feet of climbing ( per my Garmin unit the last time we rode this ride) AVG. grade = 4.1% MAX grade = 13.8% Climbing = 35% of ride ( mostly up and back down)Flat Riding = 30% 4hr. 30 min. estimated-probable total riding time OPTIONAL Ride Extension: Adds the equivalent of TWO times up Rock Store - both in distance ( 2.3m X 2 = 4.6 miles) and climbing feet = approx. 1700' From the turn around point at the top of Pine Mt.:Ride down Pine Mt. on the # 33 to the Ozena Fire Station and come back up Pine Mt.and back to Ojai on the # 33 (as does the other ride) GOLD RIDE option: if someone would volunteer to be a Gold Ride Leader you could ride up to Rose Valley & Back to Ojai ( about 40 miles?) See the RWGPS map for details The nice part of this ride is that you can make it as long and/or as much climbing as you want by turning around at any point and coming back down the same way you rode up. Please let me know by responding to this email ( Hit "Reply" NOT .."Reply All")if you are planning on attending? Carpools can possibly be arranged. It would be great if some one's "significant other or family member" would volunteer to be a SAG driver for water, snacks and/or mechanical issues as there are no water stops avail. to my knowledge after Wheeler Gorge Campground. Red/Orange Ride leader for this ride will be: Jim DoaneGold Ride Leader: ? The Red/Orange is an Intermediate to advanced ride, 40+ miles in length. This is a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). As always we will try to stick together & have a fun safe ride. We will regroup regularly and to allow everyone a chance to ride together.
