As of October 23, 2011, The Conejo Valley Cyclists have 455 current members which includes family members. This is an all time record for membership! Our club continues to grow and flourish with numerous new members joining each week. This is a testament to everyone in this club. 2011 has been a great year for CVC and I am looking forward to even greater club events to come. If you are lurking on our email list as a non member, joining is simple and the benefits outweigh the small tax deductible cost of membership (see benefits below). Membership fees go a long way in ensuring proper advocacy moves forward for all of our cycling related issues and safety. I hope that, after riding with us a few times, you would want to join us as a member. Additionally if your membership has expired this is a perfect time to renew. Membership dues are based on a 365 day year. For example, if you join August 13, 2011, your club membership is valid until August 12, 2012. ** Please note: We have made some changes to our email list server. Anyone may join our email list and receive club emails, however, ONLY current club members may now post to this list. Final Tuesday Eventing Gold Ride for the season, 5:00pm

This Tuesday's Evening Gold Ride will be the last one for the season. Please note the start time at 5:00pm. Citibank start location to Malibou Lake - Rock Store - Mulholland Hwy - Decker Canyon - around Westlake Lake. 25 + miles with 2,100' of climbing. Starting at 5:00pm Same route as the Tuesday Red Ride (without upper Encinal Canyon). Re-group at: Cornell / Mulholland and top of Rock Store. Here's the route using "Ride with GPS". CVC Sunday Social / Recovery Ride -- Sunday, October 23rd - 9:00am Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Route: Hidden Valley Backwards (Option Dos Vientos Extension) Come out and join us for a social paced ride (14 Mph Avg. Speed). Approximately 30 miles and then stay a while to socialize afterwards by having an after-ride beverage and snack. This week we will once again take some favorite roads and run them backwards. Right turn out of the parking lot onto Townsgate Rd. Right on Lakeview Cyn. Left on Agoura Rd. Right on Lindero Cyn. Right on Triunfo Cyn. Left on Hampshire Rd. Left on Foothill Dr. Left on Willow Ln. Left on Thousand Oaks Bl. Left on S. Rancho Rd. Right on Haaland Dr. Right on Rolling Oaks Dr. Left on Moorpark Rd. Right on Green Meadow Ave. Use the Green Meadow MUP. Left on Lynn Rd. At Reino Rd, you can make a left to W. Portero Rd and take Hidden Valley backwards back to the start or *Optional extension: While on Lynn Rd., cross S. Reino Rd. which becomes W. Portero Rd. Right on Via Las Brisas Left on Portero Rd which becomes Lynn Rd. Right on S. Wendy Dr. Left on W. Portero Rd. Hidden Valley backwards back to the start. After ride socializing - Natural Cafe' Restaurant - Patio and/or front grassy courtyard area. CVC Saturday Gold Ride, 8:30am, Citibank Start

Hi Everyone, I have volunteered to assist with leading gold rides effective Saturday October 22. This week starting at 8:30 AM we are riding the three lakes route. For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/772233 First stop at Juan Bautista De Anza Park, for restrooms and water. Second Stop re- group at the corner of Kanan and Agoura after returning from Cornell. Last Stop Fire Station at Lake Sherwood for R/R and water. As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride announcements promptly at 8:30AM then splitting into our groups and departing. The Gold Ride is an intermediate recreational ride 30 to 40 miles in length with an average pace of 14+mph. It is not a "no drop ride" but as always let's try to stick together and have a fun,safe ride. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. After the ride, please join us at one of the many refueling options available at the finish such as Natural Cafe, Sea Casa, East Coast Bagel, Sprouts Market, etc.. Please remember to park in the area along Westlake Bl.(between the street and the first driveway aisle) and not in the area in front of the Shops/Market. Hi Everyone, This week Orange will ride Las Virgenes/Rockstore/HV out and Back. For a detailed map and route slip, go to: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/271709 As usual, we will meet at the Citibank parking lot and have our pre-ride announcements promptly at 8:30AM prior to splitting into our groups and departing. The Orange ride is an intermediate/advanced recreational ride 40 to 50 miles in length with an average pace of 15+mph. It is not a "no drop ride" but as always let's try to stick together and have a fun,safe ride. Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride. CVC Sunday Purple Ride -- Sunday Oct 23rd - 9:00am Meeting at Citibank Parking Lot - Westlake Village -- Westlake Blvd. & Agoura Road (North East Corner) Route: Hidden Valley, (out and back) Hi Purple Riders, This Sunday, we will ride out to Hidden Valley (out and back). Below is a link to the Ride With GPS Website that will show you the route. Be sure to print out a route slip if you are unfamiliar with the area. The ride is 20.7 miles with only 880ft. of climbing. I will be leading the ride on my tandem with my daughter in the stoker position. It'll be fun! The Saturday Purple will be one of our regular, mid-range, routes...there are options for those who want more or less...just let me know so I don't think I've lost someone (not that that ever happens...!) :-) We will ride 20.3 miles with about 1255' climbing Basically, up Westlake, over and down Kanan, thru Agoura and back Please see the map http://ridewithgps.com/routes/592907 Optional loop around Westlake at the end of the ride for 5 more smooth miles! The Purple ride is 12-25 miles at 12-13 mph average pace but is open to all levels. No one gets dropped and no one is left behind. It's already that time... the time to be spinning our legs on our beautiful day....humpday! We made a choice of routes based on traffic and weather at the start of the ride... Let's look at it again on Wed. Maybe Rock store is in order.. but if it is too hot, or if it is not a popular choice.. .hey... we can change! CVC Wednesday Landing Ride (almost to end of Lindero in parking lot) Oct. 19th 3:45pm We will vote at start!!!
