CVC Members & Volunteers,

As a member of this great club of ours, I cannot thank you all enough for all the hard work and effort made to make the 30th anniversary of Cruisin the Conejo a successful event. It was an incredible and memorable day. I’m glad we were able to come together to enjoy the beautiful weather, incredible BBQ lunch and Beer Garden, raffle prizes and expo, and let's not forget the memorable rest stops, SAG, and surprise Ice Cream Stop--all made possible by your volunteerism and participation. THANK YOU! Because of our success, CVC is able to donate to or raise awareness for over a dozen charitable organizations, including the Boy and Cub Scouts of Newbury Park, Susan G. Komen, and Yield to Life, to name a few. I hope you all continue to follow these organizations throughout the year.

As a fellow volunteer of Cruisin the Conejo, I am reminded of the incredible community we have, not just in CVC, not just in the Conejo Valley but, in the cycling community as a whole. I write this note of thanks with the pride of knowing that when important events are at hand, we are there together making a difference. Thank you for letting me share in the moment with you.

I offer extended thanks to Lee Cole, Kent Koral, and Sheri Leiken for all the hard work and hours they put into creating this important event. Special mention should be made of Lee Cole, Cruisin’ Director. As a longtime member of CVC, Lee has poured his heart and soul into Cruisin the Conejo and I cannot thank him enough for his dedication and perseverance. Congratulations and Thank you Lee.

As we close out the 2014 Cruisin' season, our work to improve the community is not done…

Today, Wednesday, May 21st, at 5:30 PM, Conejo Valley Cyclists will participate in the Ride of Silence at The Lakes at Thousand Oaks. The Ride of Silence is a free event to honor fellow bicyclists who have been injured or killed by motorists. It allows us the opportunity to help raise awareness of bicyclist’s rights to the road, and to let motorists, the public, and bicyclists know they must SHARE the ROAD. I ask that you help us spread this message by attending this important event for our community. Please invite family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, teachers, and anyone else who is interested in helping us create a safer community.

Also, on Sunday May 25th at 7am, CVC Racing will be participating in the Barry Wolf GP. Please show your support and come out to cheer our fellow members.

Let’s go Ride,

Henry Montalvo
