WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENT

Hey CVC,

The weather should be perfect this weekend, with temps in the 70s and low 80s. 

On Saturday, we have four rides going out. The Red Ride will be heading out Hidden Valley, down to the coast via CSU, then up Deer Creek, down Yerba and back up over Mulholland. The Orange ride is heading south, up Cornell, over Muholland and up Stunt, then down Piuma and home direct from Cold Canyon and Muholland. The Gold ride is doing Moorpark and up Grimes Canyon before returning back over Read Road and Old Conejo. And the purple ride is doing a nice cruise out-n-back through Hidden Valley. 

On Sunday, we've got three rides going out. The G.O. Ride will roll through Moorpark, around the College and back through the West end of Simi Valley. The Social ride is doing a nice loop though Agoura up Reyes Adobe, Kanan and Fountainwood. And the new Mountain Bike/Gravel ride will start in Newbury Park and do some popular trails around Dos Vientos.

We've also got midweek rides Tuesdays and Thursdays, including the Rock Store race ride Tuesday night, and destination rides Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

As always, keep an eye out for debris in the lanes and warn riders behind you of everything in the bike lanes! You are their eyes when you are on the front - as well as in the pack.

Saturday, September 23rd

Fall and Winter ride start times return. Saturdays will now roll out at 8:30am. Sundays will now roll out at 9:00am. Midweek rides on Tuesdays and Thursdays will remain at 8:30am for now. 

October 14th, Away Ride starting from Leo Carrillo and going through Channel Islands, Ventura Harbor and Oxnard. 

We will have a number of routes ranging from 40 to 100 miles. Mark your calendar and join us.

Evening Ride - Leader Jonathan Woodbury 

The fast-paced Rock Store ride continues on Tuesday at 5:30 pm PDT sharp. More moderately-paced groups leave at 5:00 and 5:15. 

Both rides leave from the Landing's parking lot.

Sunset is 6:45 pm this week. That should give everyone time to return before sunset, especially if you take the Mulholland right turn at the Encinal "Y".

SAFETY REMINDERS

If there is a marked bike lane, cyclists may ride shoulder to shoulder. Single file otherwise.  There is no three or four abreast at any time while moving.If you are wearing a CVC kit, you represent the club, so please be sure to follow the rules of the road. When riding with CVC, you agree to: * Wear a helmet and ensure my bike is in good working order. * Ride to the right, pass on the left. * Ride in the bike lane (where available) and signal when moving into another lane. * Ride no more than two abreast in the bike lane, single file on narrow roads, and avoid "Swarming" (bunching up and multiplying the chance of accidents) * Call out and point if I see a traffic hazard * Respect ALL traffic laws and the rights of all autos, bicycles, and pedestrians* Ride predictably and remind other to be safe * Be a bicycling ambassador

PARKING

Please remember when parking at The Landing for any weekend morning rides to park and congregate towards the far end of the lot away from the street and use the middle row.  Do not park next to the homes.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

The Purple ride is considered a no drop. Having said that, please note that if you are falling behind or slower than the average pace, you may be dropped. All rides not asterisked are considered a "drop ride" so please understand the route before you start (and how to get back). If you get to a regrouping spot and no one is there, consider yourself dropped.  As always, we will try to stick together and have a fun, safe ride. We will regroup regularly to allow everyone a chance to ride together.

If for any reason you leave a group ride, please pass along the information to the ride leader. 

Inclement weather policy: In the interest of safety, whenever it is either actively raining or the ride route has wet roads, it is our club policy to cancel a club ride. Club members may still choose to meet and ride in these conditions; however, the ride will not be considered an official club ride.
