Hi CVC'rs,
Just a reminder that tomorrow is the CVC Presidential Birthday away ride, It is shaping up to be a stunning spring day in the Los Olivos area with temps in the mid 70's, clear, with very little wind.
There is water available on the Gold and Orange Lite routes in Solvang.
But, the Red Fig Mtn Route does not have any water options on the route. Bring 2 large bottles at a minimum and it would be prudent to have an extra in your jersey pocket.
See my original email below for more details and Richards ride announcement for the route information.
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow morning for our 9:30 AM start.

Hi CVC'rs,
This Saturday 3/27/21 we are having a special away ride opportunity, The CVC Presidential Birthday away ride. Washington? Lincoln? Nope...Leiken!
For those that have not ridden the area, it is the home of the well known Solvang Century and also the winter locale of many pro teams and a favorite of tour companies!
You will be riding past famous wineries, beautiful estates, and gorgeous ranches in a stunning mediterranean setting (think Tuscany!)
Here is our game plan:
Park in downtown Los Olivos (anywhere near the corner of Grand Ave and Alamo Pintado, (the intersection with the flagpole in the middle). There is street parking all around town, and it's a small town.
We will ride from The Corner House Cafe, one block east of the Flagpole intersection at 9:30 am  (we are starting 30 minutes later than our usual away start time due to the extra travel time).
We have 3 routes that you will get to choose from:
A Gold level ride that takes in the sights around the area and rides through the beautiful wine country of the Santa Ynez Valley.
An Orange Light level ride that is similar to Gold but with an additional run into Happy Canyon.
We also have a R/O level route that tours the above mentioned wine country and then tackles the famous and picturesque Figueroa Mountain!
When you finish, there are many food establishments to choose from to get lunch and a glass of wine (or beer, or whatever). One of the standouts is where we started, The Corner Cafe ( https://www.cornerhouselosolivos.com ), they have many different food options to choose from along with beer and wine.
Since we will be returning at all different times, get with your ridemates and enjoy the post ride food options in town (just as we do when we ride from the Garden Market at Santa Claus Lane).
A couple of other tidbits of information are that there is a public restrooms right in the center of town, and there are also a lot of very cool local tasting rooms right in town and wineries to visit very nearby if you’re interested. It would also be a good idea to bring a lawn chair.
Don't miss this chance to visit quant Los Olivos, and the opportunity to ride and enjoy a beautiful area.
You can see all the routes in this weeks ride announcement.
Looking forward to seeing you all this Saturday!
Kent.
